Might want to give this a watch, it's pretty impressive tbh. Make it full screen and on a PC / Laptop ideally so you can press "R".

I'm not sure the term 'suck' is justified tbh. It's unrealistic for a dealer to stock every spec available for that one person who comes in to try it. As said, credit to them for even asking around for one. It's an unfortunate situation, but no worse than that IMO.
True not all dealers can. But what the original poster has said is that Skoda UK have non available and they won't put the one they have in their showroom on the road, so that does suck.

Fair enough, each to their own

VRS or an Ibiza FR wouldn't come on my radar for a cheap "fun" toy, they both burn the wrong fuel and even when fettled don't do a lot for me, but my personal preference is free reving petrols.
Old EP3 CTR, Pug 306 GTi 6, Clio 172 Cup, Mazda MX5 all relatively cheap to run and fun.
If you were sold on a diesel though and it's just a second car get the Ibiza purely because they're cheaper.

A colleague of mine ended up buying a merc van instead of one of these recently, purely because the price was obscene with the scene tax.

I'm gonna have to watch this thread as I need to do this soon. I've been running water without antifreeze/coolant for the past 4 months and someone pointed out to me the other day I might get limescale build up :|
Drop it out and just buy a bottle of G12/13 coolant (can't remember which) and your sorted as the coolant is a lifetime item so should never need to be replaced.

In a cheap tool kit my dad gave me a few years back it has an extendible magnet (think old school car aerial), I would assume you could pick up something similar fairly cheaply in a DIY store. The magnet is bloody strong as well.

I hate DRLs full stop, yet another thing on modern cars that you'll need to fix at some point, along with stop / start, auto wipers and lights, auto dimming mirrors, electric seats, radar, parking cameras, I could go on...

Quantum Platinum 5w40 Fully Synthetic - Part number: ZGB115QLB00520
The oil has to be VW 505 01 specification or it isn't suitable. Just buy it from a dealer a 1l top up is like £6 or £7
Or alternatively full list here: http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/21250-what-engine-oil-must-i-use-in-my-fabia-vrs/

Not sure as a bolt on, I would imagine the manifold is different. The 150 turbo off a Mk4 platform car should be a straight bolt on though.

I'm guessing the leather front seats aren't heated?

Not sure if this is the right place to post this but it seemed the most appropriate. Can anyone recommend a good body shop somewhere near Swindon? I've noticed a few bits I would like refreshing due to stone chips etc. but don't have a clue where to start as I'm originally from the north so don't know the places to go down here.

Now I'm not a big cleaner as I can't use a pressure washer where I live and I do mega mileage, but the guide below should help you out (can't remember if you need to be a member or not). I see you've bought most of your kit but I'd add a grit guard which I didn't see.
When washing have one bucket with your shampoo in and the other with your grit guard and just some clean water, dip your mitt into the bucket with shampoo, clean your car, dip it into the other and clean your mitt on the grit guard as that will remove anything that may damage your car then rinse and repeat.

Hi, I had my last service in February but it's nearly getting to that time again in probably a month or so, last time I went to CN Tuning but it will be a bit out of my way so I'm looking for some closer options / those that are on the way to South Wales.
I've found the following but if anyone could let me know their experiences or if they could recommend somewhere else it would be appreciated.
Dialynx
Audi VW Centre

If it isn't the level it'll be the sensor in the expansion bottle, either clean it with a tooth brush or just buy a new bottle there like £5-£10.

I'd get down to Stokesley depending on where you are and see John at Big Fish Tuning. Know a lot of people who've got maps from him and would recommend his work.

New job needing me to do 25k miles a year and I don't need anything bigger than a hatch back.
The car I go also came with factory fit xenons and heated seats so bonus.
-
if I bought a brand new cartridge wouldn't that be already balanced? Sorry hope this comment doesn't come access and being cocky
Again I don't know that much about turbos past the basics, but even though it is new I still think you need to get it balanced etc.
-
Yeah Pilot Sport 3's are great I've got them on the front, not really the best tyre for the 25k+ miles a year I'm doing at the mo though haha. Exaltos next for me.

Sounds like it could be an issue, I know the SRS light on Civic Type R's includes airbags, SRS ECU and the seatbelts. I'd assume it would be the same on most cars as you tend to have a separate ECU for the safety systems (not sure if that applies to Fabias).
Could be a fault with a pre-tensioner rather than it not being installed though.

Before you go changing the engine, are you losing coolant? Are you losing excessive amounts of oil? How long does the white smoke stay for on idle? Is it just when you start the car and its cold? Or is it all the time?

Fabia Xenon Ignitor
in Skoda Fabia Mk I (1999-2007)
Posted
Afternoon,
I've had a bit of a weird issue, basically when the lights are off, or I've got only my sidelights on the bulb warning lights comes on the dash. But when the main beam is on all is well and the light goes back out, and when I turn the lights off it comes back on. I've checked the bulbs and everything is fine and working. My car has factory fitted Xenons.
So I've taken it to a local specialist who's gone over it twice checked the wiring etc. tried new xenon bulbs with no resolution. The next step they say is to change the ignitors which they've quoted £550 as it's a specialist part that has to be ordered from Germany. To rule it out I want to try some second hand units or new units, ideally Hella but would consider others but I don't want too much hassle fitting them. Does anyone know what I should be looking for or have part numbers? I've checked on here and from reading the ignitors and ballasts are integrated in the same unit, but I just want to confirm that as well.
Or if you have other ideas let me know. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
