  1. VAG are never to blame!
  2. Fine...I was just unlucky. But I'll not be unlucky again with reference to Skoda!
  3. ....and every day I thank my stars that I got rid of the noisy, oil burning 1.2TSI as soon as the warranty expired. VAG quality and reliability are a complete illusion.
  4. Emissions scandal, the problem with brake sensor lights on earlier VW cars , the Yeti faults outlined in this forum etc etc.Yet still VAG continues to foster the illusion that its cars are reliable and its dealers reputable. I don't know how they get away with it!
  5. Glad the matter was resolved...I thank my lucky stars I recognised all was not right with starting, idling noises etc and got rid of my 2010 1.2 Yeti as soon as warranty was up.. Great design but just too unreliable! Qashqai for the last four years or so has not been as exciting but certainly less stressful!!
  6. In short no.....See my history. Too unreliable, couldn't wait to get rid after warranty expired,
  7. A nostalgic return to this site and this thread vindicates my decision to cut and run in May 2013...I just was not prepared to take the risk of ownership out of warranty. Incidentally the Qashqai is excellent so far.Doesn't even use any oil!
  8. I read the Auto Express surveys and the What Car reports and I feel cheated that I was one of the supposed few with Yeti problems....But when I see some of the reports on here about problems I was familiar with....v rough engine noise on start up, excessive oil consumption....I thank my lucky stars I got rid after 3 years and 32 000 miles. Not all Skoda dealers are as wonderful as the surveys make out. My current car is a Qashqai, nowhere near as satisfying as the Yeti was at first but I am hoping it'll be far more dependable.
  9. Daveyeti....if this post is directed at me it is too late. Thanks for your concern but I am an ex Yeti owner.I visit occasionally to see if anyone has experienced anything similar.
  10. But some dealers are just not interested...will tell you there is no problem, will take you to the end of the three year warranty and leave you with no alternative but to change if you don't want a horrendous bill
  11. Keeping the Yeti 1.2 beyond warranty is just too risky. Great in parts yes,but could the problems stem from engine being underpowered and having to work too hard?
  12. The main reason I got rid after 3 years....too many incidents of going into limp mode, turbo problems, very rough diesel like sounds from engine and not just on start up.Too much oil being consumed.I simply could not risk looking after this 1.2 reg10 Yeti after expiration of warranty and bought a Qashqai last May.Not as immediately attractive as the Yeti but I hope it turns out far more reliable.
  13. Ex owner here, 10 reg 1.2 tsi which I had to get rid of on third anniversary as soon as it was out of warranty. Very rough sounding, particularly on start up but let me down on three or four occasions, going into limp mode .Some of the problems were highlighted here if you see my history. Anyway after using a full litre of oil n the last 3 thousand miles I just lost faith and am now in the Qashqai club. The Qash isn't nearly as good as the Yeti but I hope it turns out to be far more reliable. I see more problems surfacing in future as the mileage on these cars increases . By the way mine was on 40 thou when I got rid..

Not really likely to happen. There are superb aspects to the Yeti and for 2 years I would accept it as the best car I'd ever owned. Then my luck changed and I couldn't depend on it. I can't regret getting rid of a car that latterly couldn't be trusted.

1.6 petrol...would point out the qq also has esp as standard...an unforgivable economy on the lower spec Yeti models.
