  1. VAG are never to blame!
  2. Fine...I was just unlucky. But I'll not be unlucky again with reference to Skoda!
  3. ....and every day I thank my stars that I got rid of the noisy, oil burning 1.2TSI as soon as the warranty expired. VAG quality and reliability are a complete illusion.
  4. Emissions scandal, the problem with brake sensor lights on earlier VW cars , the Yeti faults outlined in this forum etc etc.Yet still VAG continues to foster the illusion that its cars are reliable and its dealers reputable. I don't know how they get away with it!
  5. Glad the matter was resolved...I thank my lucky stars I recognised all was not right with starting, idling noises etc and got rid of my 2010 1.2 Yeti as soon as warranty was up.. Great design but just too unreliable! Qashqai for the last four years or so has not been as exciting but certainly less stressful!!
  6. In short no.....See my history. Too unreliable, couldn't wait to get rid after warranty expired,
  7. A nostalgic return to this site and this thread vindicates my decision to cut and run in May 2013...I just was not prepared to take the risk of ownership out of warranty. Incidentally the Qashqai is excellent so far.Doesn't even use any oil!
  8. I read the Auto Express surveys and the What Car reports and I feel cheated that I was one of the supposed few with Yeti problems....But when I see some of the reports on here about problems I was familiar with....v rough engine noise on start up, excessive oil consumption....I thank my lucky stars I got rid after 3 years and 32 000 miles. Not all Skoda dealers are as wonderful as the surveys make out. My current car is a Qashqai, nowhere near as satisfying as the Yeti was at first but I am hoping it'll be far more dependable.
  9. Daveyeti....if this post is directed at me it is too late. Thanks for your concern but I am an ex Yeti owner.I visit occasionally to see if anyone has experienced anything similar.
  10. But some dealers are just not interested...will tell you there is no problem, will take you to the end of the three year warranty and leave you with no alternative but to change if you don't want a horrendous bill
  11. Keeping the Yeti 1.2 beyond warranty is just too risky. Great in parts yes,but could the problems stem from engine being underpowered and having to work too hard?
  12. The main reason I got rid after 3 years....too many incidents of going into limp mode, turbo problems, very rough diesel like sounds from engine and not just on start up.Too much oil being consumed.I simply could not risk looking after this 1.2 reg10 Yeti after expiration of warranty and bought a Qashqai last May.Not as immediately attractive as the Yeti but I hope it turns out far more reliable.
  13. Ex owner here, 10 reg 1.2 tsi which I had to get rid of on third anniversary as soon as it was out of warranty. Very rough sounding, particularly on start up but let me down on three or four occasions, going into limp mode .Some of the problems were highlighted here if you see my history. Anyway after using a full litre of oil n the last 3 thousand miles I just lost faith and am now in the Qashqai club. The Qash isn't nearly as good as the Yeti but I hope it turns out to be far more reliable. I see more problems surfacing in future as the mileage on these cars increases . By the way mine was on 40 thou when I got rid..

Not really likely to happen. There are superb aspects to the Yeti and for 2 years I would accept it as the best car I'd ever owned. Then my luck changed and I couldn't depend on it. I can't regret getting rid of a car that latterly couldn't be trusted.

1.6 petrol...would point out the qq also has esp as standard...an unforgivable economy on the lower spec Yeti models.

If you look through my history you'll see some comments about dependability.....being left in limp mode on roundabouts and on the A19. Basically down to two major faults...turbo shim needed and problem with cylinder/coil. However though nothing said to be wrong with it car sounds like a diesel on first start up,really really rough. Definitely not right and now coming up to 3 years old. Definitely going to cost money so I want rid. I start again with a Nissan 3 year warranty and hope for the best. Loved the Yeti for about 2 years but lost confidence after that. On the plus side the trade in offer was astonishing so little has been lost.

Just taken in Yeti and picked up new Qashqai. Goodbye.
  18. Further to this we entered the dreaded limp mode in early January as reported elsewhere.., coil etc .. sorted by RAC. May 9th oil warning light showing, no probs, got a litre of oil in the boot. I've always found bonnet release stiff but this time afer pulling release in car could not work catch under bonnet. ****ing rain so after 10 mins had to call Skoda Assist yet again.RAC man also struggled for10 mins or so before he could open bonnet. Ok so I should be more careful about checking oil but it seemed to go down v quickly...RAC man said it should not have used a litre since last service and I am sure it was ok last time I looked about six weeks ago. I have absolutely no idea what goes on under the bonnet of a car and so have to rely on the integrity of mechanics. I get more peace of mind by changing when warranty runs out. I am going to have to this time and I hope my Qashqai is more reliable.
  19. Must admit I felt like this.......criticising Yeti on here is like farting in church. So many people get upset at your impertinence. Sorry, things do go wrong, not all dealers are that wonderful, and after 3 years I'm going to change. If that makes me a turncoat well tough titty. I may regret my new qashqai but I'll get another 3 year warranty.
  20. Thanks Bobby.....I'll also take my ball home once I have spat my dummy out.
  21. Will be changing before warranty expires.....and it won't be a Yeti.
  22. In my history you'll see I've had issues with dependability..ie engine going into limp mode on at least six occasions. I have had issues with VAG cars in the past after warranty expires. Golf ESP light came on and I was quoted £ 1300 for repair six months out of warranty.Much hassle and argument got bill down to £ 120. So I now keep a car only until warranty runs out . I personally like the Yeti apart from those issues above .SWMBO has no faith in it at all and also complains of water falling onto the passenger seat when the door is opened after rain. I also live near to Sunderland and was persuaded to assist the local economy by a friend who has kindly offered me the friends and family discount that Nissan workers are entitled to. Great trade in on Yeti at 75%of original price plus £2500 off the qashqai makes it a no brainer.
  23. 6quote name='MarieK' timestamp='1367053791' post='3241221'] I wonder if you'd all be so forgiving if I changed my order to ano My qashqai is ordered and due in 4 weeks.....I await the abuse for my last 4 weeks as a Yeti owner.
  24. Not much argument on Skoda's get out clause though.
  25. Can't guarantee parts for life but not looking good against Hyundai's 5 years, Kia's 7 years and Vauxhalls life while you own the car. I hope Skoda are not becoming too complacent as I see Korean manufacturers where Skoda was 5years ago....trying hard and increasing quality. I will be changing when warranty expires and it won't be a Yeti.
