  1. Thanks for the reply, RetiredDinosaur. Any other opinions?
  2. Since Autodoc took my money for 4 new 03L130277B injectors, but came back and claimed they are discontinued, I found this https://www.ukdieselparts.com/brand-new-vdo-common-rail-injector-a2c9626040080_p32333857.htm £300 incl VAT Reading the reviews, I can't make my mind up if they are a hit-and-miss operation, or just scammers? Any experiences with them, or maybe a link to a reputable seller of NEW injectors. I have had bad luck with "refurbished" injectors form Dieselfix Neuss, which have excellent ratings on Ebay. The engine was recently replaced with a ~100k miles engine from a wreck standing two years, and after only a few thousand km, an injector failed and was replaced with one of the "refurbished" from the original engine, which failed mechanically. After a few thousand km more, one of the "refurbished" injectors failed again, en route in Poland.
  3. What to do if the correction values aren't accepted by VCDS - error message "oiut of range"?
  4. It's a Superb II so it doesn't have it. Trust me, I've had plenty time to try out all features. Now I drive a Mercedes C-class estate, which is quite underwhelming
  5. I've recently started as a taxi driver. Which car I drive any given day is up to the whims of the dispatcher. If I'm unlucky, I get one without auto-hold, which results in agony after 11-14 hours of driving in Copenhagen and sitting for 100's of red lights. One of the cars without is a Superb 2,0 TDI 150 DSG 6 with ACC, which is great. Again, driving for 11-14 hours, you want to use your legs as little as possible, as the static pressure is painstaking. Unlike UK, drivers here are not taught to apply the hand brake at each traffic stop, and on the Superb, the creeping is so severe that the hand brake has to be applied hard, and the stupid ECU doesn't realise that I want to stand still. Switching to N or P at every red light defaets the purpose of an auto gearbox
  6. Lesjöfors replacement springs work great on my H/B http://www.bestpartstore.co.uk/2260996 With a decent jack you can do it in your own driveway in 10 minutes pr. side.
  7. A strip of 25x180 cm of jeans-like fabric was cut up and sewn into 6 small pouches, filled with the contents of a 5 liter bag of silica gel kitty litter and finally sewn shut. Now I have 6 Pingi-like moisture absorbers, for the price of one genuine Pingi 300 gram, only mine are 400 gram. All this came about because I killed one of my 4 Pingi bags, by giving it 7 minutes microwave in one stretch, causing the grill wire rack to melt holes in the bag. Of course my cheap version doesn't have the tell-tale blue dot, which pales as the ability to absorb moisture diminishes. Having so many makes it easy to just swap them before they are used up, and I will simply write the dry weight on each bag so I can weigh how much water they've absorbed.
  8. Well, then I can't imagine that getting the emissions fix carried out will be left to the owner's own decision, since it will be trivial to flag all the involved VIN-numbers in the VOSA system which has not had the fix done, blocking them from passing MOT. I know that this is exactly what they are going to do here in Denmark, where we have MOT every other year, starting from 4 years from the first registration date.
  9. Maybe the MOT is only a matter between the car's owner and the garage performing the MOT, with no central database keeping records about the MOT status of any particular vehicle?

  11. Post means past, but I can never remember when I need to.
  12. You didn't see my tongue in the cheek. But seriously. I can never remember if AM stands for after midday or PM stands for past midday, so I have to look it up every time. Besides, 12H clocks with green digits remind me of 1980's Japanese cars and any vehicle with a 12H clock digital which can't be changed to 24H screams out "cheap, low quality" to me. I come to think of Sun Maid raisins: "New metric pack: 227 gram" (½ lbs) You do things differently across the Channel. If a German and Dane agree to meet at ½ 4, they mean 3.30 whereas you Brits mean half past 4, 4.30
