  1. Hi Andy

Everything was fine, took about 10 days from placing the order to receiving the alloys. Paid credit card no problems there either. Had to place 2 orders for 2 wheels each as the DHL carriage max was 30 kg and alloys are 12.9 each.

Other than that no worries, and less than 50% cost in UK.

Wheels are on the car now with my winters fitted

    Steve

    Thanks for the update Steve

  2. Hi

I currently have a 2010 Octavia L&K 1.8Tsi with a set of steel rims for winter, they are 15".  I have just ordered a VRS (well its been pre ordered by the dealer, so I should have it within 3 weeks).  Looking at the VRS, I am pretty sure that there is no way my existing steels will fit, can someone confirm for me please?

    Thanks

    Andy

  3. Hi

Sorry if this has been asked before, I did try a search but couldn't find the answer.

I have searched ATS, Kwick Fit, Mytyres and Black Circles and they all suggest that I can put 91 load rating rather than 94 on my Superb s 1.8TSi.

Can anyone confirm if this is correct please? I did take the max laden weight, and add 25% and it's within the figures.

    thanks

    Andy

  4. Hi

What do people think about pavement parking? i.e. 2 wheels or more on the footpath.

I went for a walk earlier, with pushchair and friend in wheelchair. Got to a point on the pavement where we had to turn around, find a dropped kerb and cross over.

Now, dont get me wrong, there are roads where it makes sense for peopleto put 2 wheels on the pavement, but in the case we are talking about wide roads.

Anyway, on the way back, I knocked the door and asked the owner if there was any way he could park on the road in future, the language was amazing :-0 I then asked him to come out so he could see for himself that neither the pushchair or the wheelchair could fit and he went off on one about what he would do if we scratched his car trying to get past and went back in his house....

My mate lost his legs in Iraq, so a little f* respect would be appreciated but this guy thought he had a right......

So, what do you guys and girls all think?

  5. I have always been a little concerend about how rigid isofix systems are, having worked in the steel industry for many years, sometime flexing is a good thing.

However, since last Friday when someone ran into the side of me, I was grateful to have the BeSafe Izi combi X3. Did it's job and littlen is all fine. 2 and half and on a trip to drayton manor today was telling us all about the bad man who crashed into her door and set of the airbags :-)

p.s. As for sideways movement, this would be rediculous, in a big impact with maybe 2 car seats and a young child in the middle they would be crushed....

  6. Thanks for all the well wishes, and you are all of course correct, it's just a lump of metal.

I only have 4 years no claims so couldn't protect them, the thought of paying £2k a year again makes me feel sick, lets hope Direct Line fight my case for me.

oh and I actually have 12 years no claims, but due to changing companies before getting my own car I was only able to transfer the 3 years at the last company on to my private policy.

  7. I'm afraid Google maps doesn't show the new roundabout, it's only been there about 3 months as part of a major road widening project.

It stays 2 lanes down to the next round about, so he can't use that excuse.

Direct line have been a little useless to be honest, they said this evening that he may have admitted fault, but I still haven't even had a call from them to take proper details of the incident.

  8. Thats the way I see it, but he claimed I pulled into the side of him whilst he was in the left lane, after changing his mind several time about what had happend.... Wish I had started the voice recorder on my iphone but in the heat of the moment and all that.

Hopefully the insurance companies will realise we wouldnt have both pulled to the right if it had happend on the left :-(

I hate cars when stuff like this happens.

  9. Well

I was in the right hand lane of a roundabout today exiting in the right lane, the roundabout is clearly marked and some guy drives his mondeo into the side of the superb. No photos yeat as it was dark by the time we got the car home and we put gaffer tape over the sharp edges as the mondeo left a long cut in the door.

Lower sill also well dented, and the curtain and passanger side airbag deployed.

Very frustraiting that no one stopped, I even asked one person but she didnt want to get involve, what has this world come to.

I imagine the superb 1.8Tsi will have to go at insurance renewal, I only have 4 years no claims so couldnt protect and I think with this been on a roundabout with no witness it will go 50/50? Anyone got similar experiance?

This was the only photo I could get, very busy roundabout at 5pm ish with my 2.5 year old with me. He claims I pulled into him, damage is to the whole passanger side, main initial impact was front pasanger door and then his front wing slid down my car until I came to a stop as seen in the photo.....
