HI all,
Long story short, I bought a 63 plate TSI VRS yesterday with 60,000 miles on the clock. About 20 minutes after leaving the garage the EML came on, so back to the garage for it to be scanned. The scan found a 'coolant temperature fault'. As garages are operating as 'click and collect' at the moment, they agreed that if the code were to return then they would arrange for the repairs to be carried out at a garage local to me. I later also noticed that the water temp gauge wasn't working properly, and the oil temp gauge on the dash was showing '--'.
A search on the forum has led me to believe the most likely cause of the failure is the thermostat housing, which I believe is attached to the water pump? I believe the salesman was assuming it was a simple coolant temperature sensor fault - but I now don't think that is the case.
Has anybody any experience of a similar fault? And if so what is the likely cost for Skoda to replace?
Thanks in advance
Ryan
