Here in Israel I've heard more than once about out of warranty goodwill repairs regarding this issue. I guess it shouldn't be any different in UK. However this appears to be problem only with earlier models of 1.2 TSI. The way I understand it, the new models have a redisigned camchain and tensioner so it shouldn't be a problem on newer engines. I for sure am not worried about this with my new Yeti.

Had this on my 1.2 Octy which eventually resulted in timing chain skipping. Definitely not something to ignore.

I have a 1.2 manual with 3500 km on the clock. I've found it to be VERY sensitive to the way you're driving. Being gentle on throttle and shifting up quickly plays a major part with this engine in the Yeti. Crusing at 90km/h I get around 5.5l/100km. Doing 120km/h I get around 7l/100km. Heavy right foot will get you easily into 10l/100km. krko

Just curios, how do you do it? All best, krko

Going to the beach... it's around 30 degrees celsius here in Tel Aviv. Having said that, would give anything for some snow.

For what it's worth we own both a Yeti (1.2 TSI Manual) and a Superb (1.8 TSI DSG) and I prefer the Yeti

Glad you got it sorted out! Now you'll be able to enjoy your Yeti

Hello all, I received my Yeti 2 weeks ago after having to wait for it for 10 long days (at least there are some advantages to being in Israel) . It's a 1.2 TSI manual, candy white. Just thought I might share some pictures of it... All best, krko

This would be my fourth Skoda After replacing my 2 years old Octavia for Superb I'll probably replace the 1 year old Fabia for Yeti :) The questions I have: 1. Does the 2x4 offer any more off road capabilities than a regular car? 2. Does it have the "off road" mode (like 4x4) or any other "off road" settings not found in a regular car? I'm not going to use it much off road just curious wether I should go for the 4x4 models or stick with 2x4. Thank you in advance, krko

Bought a brand new Fabia a week ago. After driving it for about 500km I noticed that starting the car requires to hold the starter a bit longer than normal. Took it to my local dealer (in Israel) and they diagnosed faulty injectors! How bad luck is that! This completely ruined the experience of buying a new car for me :( Maybe I'm exaggerating but all I'm thinking of is what else is wrong with the car... bummer... krko

Had exactly the same issue develop around 20k (only happening when car warm) took it to Skoda, they had my clutches replaced with "new improved" version that shouldn't be doing this. According to my experience and mine only, this isn't normal, it's a problem and Skoda are replacing clutches to people who experience this issue. 20k later, all is fine. krko

had the same issue, took the car to the dealer and a new set of clutches was fitted under warranty. apparently, according to my dealer, many 7-speed dsgs have this issue and vw are replacing them quite often. they also said there's a new improved set of clutches which is what my car was fitted with now and they said hopefully the new clutches that vw have developed won't develop the same shudder and will prove to be better for all 7-speed dsg customers.

Same here. 87,000 km later all is fine.

May I ask why?

Hello all, I currently own a 2010 Octy which is going to my wife and I'm going to buy myself a new Superb. The question is 1.8 TSI or 2.0 TSI? I don't want a diesel. It's going to be DSG equipped. Thank you. krko

Hello all, Just wanted to know what's the most km you guys have on your 7-speed DSG? Mine's got only 4000 km on it but I have it only for about a month. krko

just two points really: 1. parking in crowded/confined space on a slight slope (not steep enough to engage hill hold) requires either a very brisk but very gentle work with your right foot, a bit of left braking or using the hand brake, to avoid touching the car behind you. 2. the box sometimes hesitates downshifting. btw it doesn't hold the clutches at the biting point when in D with brake on. at least my 7 speed DSG doesn't. there's a slight delay from releasing the brake until the clutch engages. in start/stop traffic upon stop it will hold the clutch at biting point for like a sec or two assuming you'll start moving in a sec but if you don't it will release it. krko

I have the 1.2 Octavia. It's a superb car and a really nice engine. Engine noises are really low, the engine has a pretty good power. It feels like a 1.8 or 2.0 non turbo engine. The fuel consumption is good, surely better than the 1.6 but I've found that if you want, it can be really economical. On highway I normally achieve about 4.8-5 l/100km and if I think economy and drive accordingly I can achieve 4.1-4.3 l/100km. Same goes for the city. If you drive it without thinking too much about economy it will do between 7-8 l/100km depending on how much start-stop traffic you have but you can achieve better numbers. I can't really comment on servicing expenses as I have mine for about 4000 Km... krko

So I guess it is normal...
