  1. I intend to! And this forum is a great source! But sometimes it's good to chat to an owner about their own personal experiences. A week with a freshly prepared press car is one thing - it's good to know how the car feels after a few thousand miles. Cheers.
  2. Hello, I've currently got a new Octavia 2.0 TFSI vRS on review for PetrolBlog and am looking to get some owners' opinions on the car. If anyone would be willing to share their thoughts on the car, either via email or phone, could you send me a DM please? Be delighted to feature photos and words on the site. Thanks in advance. It's been good to get behind the wheel of an Octy vRS again. I still miss my MK1 and have been generally very impressed with the MKII. All the best.
  3. Good spot. Amended with thanks!
  4. The pics were taken up on Okehampton Loop. Do you know the road?
  5. Thanks. Sadly, my budget of zero couldn't stretch to a helicopter, hire of a racing circuit and Sienna Miller! I see you have one on order? Fair play - managed to get in before the waiting list undoubtedly grows...
  6. it wasn't just Top Gear who reviewed the Skoda Yeti yesterday. My own review went live on PetrolBlog.com. Skoda Yeti on PetrolBlog My final Skoda review having already driven and reviewed the Fabia vRS and Superb estate. A hattrick of great cars. Could easily see myself buying one of them. Push come to shove I'd probably choose the Yeti over the Superb, but only just. Both exceptionally good cars.
  7. Absolutely right. The Audi approach these days is to decide on a look and then put it through the photocopier at different sizes. The new A6 is a case in point, as is the A8 which is essentially just a bloated A4. Skoda is on a roll at the moment and produce relevant cars that people demand. I'm testing the Yeti in January and I fully expect it to confirm my suspicion that Skoda is the most relevant and important car manufacturer in the UK. Cheers,
  8. Thank you! Appreciate the feedback! Have to say I'm missing the Superb. An exceptional car.
  9. I doff my cap to you sir - that would be my ideal spec! Would be good to get it featured on PetrolBlog if you're interested?!
  10. Thanks Al. Oversight on my part - I added it in during the proof check. D'oh! I see you have the 4x4 - are you happy with it? Presumably it has come in handy over recent weeks?!
  11. Hello again. Further to my recent Fabia vRS review, I've just finished reviewing the Superb estate. Lots of reviews on the net, but here are my personal thoughts: Skoda Superb estate on PetrolBlog Thanks for reading.
  12. Guys, thanks for the comments. Glad you enjoyed it and that the car is getting the respect it deserves. In the week I had the car I really took to it. I'm envious of anyone who has one on order.
  13. Former owner of brilliant Octavia vRS and a Superb. Both excellent cars in my opinion.

  14. Hello. It has been sometime since I was active on the site as I sold my Octavia vRS a few years ago. But last month I was given a new Fabia vRS to play with for a week. Thought you guys might be interested in my thoughts. If so, you can read them here: Fabia vRS on PetrolBlog Needless to say, I was very impressed with the car. Would choose one over a Polo or Ibiza every time.
  15. Bit late on this, but I'm from West Devon and hope to be behind the wheel of another vRS soon. Checkout SWDubs - VW Club for local events - very friendly bunch.
  16. A couple of years back I had a nearly new Octy vRS which I adored. Fantastic car. I stupidly sold it to fund home improvements, but have missed the mixture of practicality, exclusivity and performance. My situation is that I'm now doing 600 or so miles a week, which in a Corrado VR6 is a little bit insane (on the wallet!) and a diesel seems the best option. But I don't like diesels!! I've fallen for another Octy vRS, from a main dealer, 2003, 50k on the clock, FSSH, parking sensors, cruise, metallic paint, taxed, MOTd, serviced and warrantied for £6,800. My reasoning is that on long trips I used to get 45mpg from the vRS and with petrol cheaper than diesel, it makes more sense. Plus I get a wonderful car to boot! My budget is £7k, so a) does this seem like a good deal and am I mad not to go for a TDi, TDCi or the equivalent. Cheers!
  17. Nothing wrong with the Accord Type-R. Strangely enough I debated between the vRS and ATR a couple of years back and the vRS won. Second time around, thought I'd give the ATR a try. With hindsight, should have gone back to the vRS. The ATR is a fantastic driving machine though. Focused, raw, full of feedback and has the ability to dance along b-roads in a way which belies the size of the thing. Wonderful Recaro seats and leather MOMO wheel add to the experience. Two things are a concern though. Firstly I can't get our double pushchair in the thing meaning that family outings have to be taken in our Forester. Secondly, I've just changed jobs which will mean a fair amout of long distance driving. At 80mph, the ATR is high revving and a little tiring. The most I can manage out of a tank of V-Power is 300 miles (and it MUST be V-Power). My old Octy was a far more rounded vehicle. Great fun when required yet comfortable and relaxed at cruising speeds. If our pushchair fits in the boot, we'll be tempted with the hatch again. If not, it is time for the estate! BTW, the vRS in question has done 30k miles, FSH, one owner and is up for
  18. Cheers :P Was interested to find out if it was owned by an enthusiast - the plate would indicate it was. Looking to get back behind the wheel of a vRS soon. Currently running an Accord Type-R, but currently debating between a vRS hatch or estate. Be good to be back!
  19. Just been to take a look at a silver vRS for sale in my local Proton dealer. Reg is M12 VRS. Does anyone know anything about this car? Looked quite tidy. Cheers.
  20. Hello all (again). I originally joined this site when I purchased my Octy vRS. Having sold that in January, I haven't been around the site much. Am now back because on Saturday I pick up my Superb Comfort TDi. The necessity to drive a minimum of 2750 miles of month, including a 200 mile round trip three times a week meant I felt a comfortable diesel would be a good choice. Was going to purchase a Fabia vRS, but was swayed by a good deal on a Superb and I was very impressed with the ride and general relaxed nature of the car. As 180 of the 200 mile round trip will be on dual carriageways, I think the Superb makes perfect sense. Hoping to achieve 50-55 mpg which will also be a good thing! Now I have to find a suitable weekend toy to balance the fun factor once again. All the best. PS - anyone seen my old Octy vRS flying around the North East. Red with K10 VRS plate.
  21. I've found the red paint to be fine. Just keep the waxing quite regular and it looks fantastic. For me, the ultimate vRS colour! When clean, the red looks fantastic and the shine is beautiful. You'll see how good mine is after 2 years here: Unfortunately now up for sale on ebay- gonna miss her :( Edited to remove link before I get in trouble with the mods for advertising!

  23. I only became interested in the Skoda brand after the VW takeover and following the launch of the Octy vRS. I fell in the love with the car and very nearly traded-in my Racing Puma for a black demonstrator. Went for a VX220 instead! The birth of our son last year deemed the VX220 inpractical so finally bought a vRS and love it to bits. I really respect the Skoda brand and product range but would only consider myself to be a vRS enthusiast (at the moment). If that makes sense?!
