  1. To be fair the base RS3 has a lot of extra's but definitely doesn't have 7 seats. I wasn't trying to compare a Kodiak vrs with an RS3 - they are patently two completely different cars. I was pointing out if you have already take the mental leap to go over £50k for a car then its not a big difference to consider other cars at the same general price point - 2.5k difference when you are at 50k isn't that significant. Didn't buy an RS3 in the end, too small. Considered all sorts of manufacturers and cars, ended up ordering an RS4 estate, build week 25 so ~4 months waiting. Kodiak orders seem to be moving a bit better now so fingers crossed for everyone waiting that they get their cars soon.
  2. Not quiet, additionaly the side detection was disconinued, Area view and the CANTON music system also had to be removed due from my order to unavailble. My order was pre December. I can only repeat what the dealer told me, I cant vouch for the accuracy of the statement. However I had already told him I was cancelling the order before he told me they had heard from skoda - use or ignore as you see fit.
  3. Thats what the dealer said, I have no way of validating it. Without a build week then any numbers you get are just made up imo, even if you have a build week its not a guarentee but personaly I would be happier than non at all.
  4. This was re price VRS vs RS3. My spec Kodiak VRS was 52k, the base Audi RS3 is 54.5k - within 2.5k of each other in cost, hence my "pretty much the same price".
  5. Placed my order end of Sept, in December had to modify the order (skoda discontiued extras) spoke to dealer today who told me they have been advised of delays to VRS of upto 52 weeks - presumably new orders. Still dont have a build date so have called it a day and cancelled my order. Will revisit once the supply situation calms down, then again Audi RS3 for pretty much the same price..... might just switch queues
  6. You are conflating prioritizing production of low emission vehicles (without citing direct evidence), regulatory targets and how VW group report profit I doubt anyone is surprised that multinational companies seek the most preferential legal method of reporting such profit. 2020 saw a global pandemic with disruption to orders, production, supply and delivery. Any motor manufacture might reasonably argue for relief given the unprecedented circumstances. Regardless all manufactures seek to diversify and produce low emission vehicles to offset less green models, this is nothing new. Aston Martin Cygnet in 2011 for example. If wish to make a point regarding availability of Skoda Kodiak's I would suggest your post has failed to do so.
  7. Probably a dum question, can the plenty full but short hub caps be inserted from the rear of the wheel? ie they would be sunk into the hub well on the alloy.
  8. and an update. Got a call from the dealer yesterday re my order. Skoda apparently have instructed dealers to contact owners of orders that don't yet have an allocated build week and have specified any of the following: CANTON sound system Area View Blind Spot Detection Skoda unable to supply the above , as I had all the above ticked what would I like to do? Cant fault the car but I am concerned that essentially I'm starting over and am now tempted to see what alternatives potentially have a better prospective delivery time.
  9. If confirmed, this is more in line with Seat's recent quote saying expect recovery after July next year as opposed to Skoda's previously reported position - situation improving towards the end of this year. Again, if confirmed, it also makes a mockery of 30 week lead times and explains all the warnings and caveats Skoda gave when accepting my new order. It doesn't change anything much for me as I kept my car and every other manufacturer is in the same position. That is unless or until other manufactures get moving again faster than Skoda. I wonder if the auto manufacturers are rethinking their reliance on far eastern semi-con manufacturers now?
  10. Hi Folks, I placed an order for a Kodiak VRS 29th September. Being quoted 30 weeks for delivery per Skoda's guidance. Dealer reckons that it may well be 27 weeks based on what they are seeing to date, we'll see. Have paid deposit and now have to sit & wait for about 10 weeks before likely to get a build date. I went for a lot of electronics so fully expect to hit all the delays possible. will post updates when anything happens
  11. yes you can link your iphone, I have a 3GS you can plug in via an optional cable fitted into the glovebox which fits on to the apple connector at the base of the phone. Down side to this is it stops being a phone at that point. You then use the radio to navigate the music content on the iphone. You also have an audio jack socket in the jumbo box so a standard 3.5mm? audio jack cable and you can play through the radio - control is via via the IPod thou. Havent tried via bluetooth but I notice when my phone pairs with the bluetooth the maxidot shows an ipod symbol so Im guessing it knows there is music content, no idea how or indeed if this will work thou. I have the 3GS which definately works with my facelift VRS factory bluetooth, not certain about older modles compatability - suspect its a case of a software update but others far more knowledgeable than I should be able to tell you. You could also search on some of the posts on the forum on this subject as there are a few.. Best of luck sourcing a car, they realy are great - so good infact we have two.
  12. Had some scumbags visit at 4 o’clock this morning. Kicked in the front door to get in to the house, while the family was asleep up stairs. Looks like they where after the keys for our VRS’s. They did get the wife’s keys but not mine. Managed to scare them off as they where trying to get into her car – no idea why he found it so hard but he was having trouble putting the key in the door lock, I guess remote door locks confused him or something. Sadly he took the keys when he legged it. Couple of things of note: These guys targeted us for the Octavia’s when we live on a street full of Audi’s, BMWs and sorts of prestige brand cars, there’s even a guy with an old Ferrari further down the road. Would never have thought I’d see the day when that happened. They clearly had no concerns about noise or the dog so where very determined to get the cars. As a side note, my local garage tell me it can take up to a month to get replacement barrels for the door and ignition and a bill of over £700 to do it. The car is now in secured storage of course. The recovery driver tells me he’s doing a lot of work in the MK area particularly BMWs and VAG at the moment, mostly keys taken.
  13. Ive used several Skoda garages and have few complaints with any in truth. Wayside service does stand out as the best Ive seen, highly comprable to BMW (in the days before I converted to skoda). Been in today about a warrenty fault, service realy couldnt have been better. Two thumbs up from me.
  14. Probably a known problem but I couldn’t find any reference to it so sharing with the collective. Wife’s VRS (2010 hatch) has an intermittent rattle/squeak coming from the rear from new, seemed to be around the hatch itself but could never track it down. Dealer tried and failed to find it once telling me that they would need to strip down the rear tail gate to investigate further so we would be without the car for a day or so. Was too much bother so just turned the radio up and left it.. My VRS (2011 estate) started a similar rattle/squeak from the rear after couple of weeks old. By chance found that when I had a heavy box in the boot the rattle stopped. Tracked the cause to the jack sat in a polystyrene holder in the spare where. When wrapped in an old tea shirt the rattle stopped. Just on the off chance did the same fix to wife’s car and low and behold that one is now rattle free as well. Fix has been in place on both cars for a month now and seems to have done the trick. Its an easy thing to eliminate from your rattle & squeak hunt so may be worth a go if you have the optional spare wheel.
  15. there is a reason why the Seat is available instantly whilst at the same time theres a waiting list for Skoda's
  16. yeah 1 yr old VRS front and rear badges same problem. Will get them changed at next service under warrenty.
  17. Update Order Date...........Colour..........Body..........Transmisison...........Fuel...........Build 22/12/2010...........Black..........Estate.........DSG....................Petrol.........quoted Week 06 - built 6th Feb, delivery 5th march
  18. nah. My daughters fabia, that I had from new has, 10,000 on the clock after 3 years. The octavia estate I part-ex'd for the VRS was 7 years old with 35,000 miles again had that from new. The wifes VRS is a year old with 8000 on the clock (which includes a run to Germany and back) - and that will do around 4000 miles next year as Im picking up my VRS on Saturday so wont be pinching her's any more. All genuine miles, fsh
  19. Its really good most of the time. On the really odd occasion thou I curse it ie when you want to get into a gap on a roundabout, rolling in at 10mph-ish and the gearbox decides 3rd at 1000 rpm is best with 4th gear preselected, when what you really needed was 2nd now. But that really is the odd occasion. The rest of the time its great, wouldn’t be without it
  20. Going off topic here and I'll make this my last say on the matter. I suspect its not that cheap if you consider the real manufacturing cost, and its still probably above what VAG pay for the units. Call me suspicious but if I had questionable ethics I suspect its cheaper, way less risk and more profitable to buy a dozen units from someone connected to the supplier. Consider many electronic items are often manufactured in china, or at least assembled from parts sourced there. How much of a clone is something that comes off the same assembly line or contains the same parts? No one will tell you who the someone is because they dont want VAG persuing the supplier to close down the supply. Just a thought.
  21. To the OP, Ive ordered one as standard on my next VRS imo they are a good unit if some what over priced. For me whilst portables may be more flexible and more up to date they are also a hassle to carry around, mount/dismount, & more attractive to the casual thief. To those concerned about prices of non-factory units being “too” low (whatever that value is) and thus an indicator they are all stolen, report the seller to the police if you think this is sufficient evidence of guilt, otherwise all you are doing is risking slandering someone. By that metric Amazon.com must be guilty of theft on almost every item. There are many reasons why anything may sell for less than the manufactures rrp, theft is but one of them.
  22. I got contis on ours (registered in Jan of last year), good tyres but the fronts are getting close to needing changing after 10,000 miles
  23. Similar situation here, ordered petrol VRS late December, was built 6th Feb, last update was 11th Feb sat in Emden. Confirmed with the dealer via email that the car will be registered on a 11 plate - had no quibbles no arguments just a "of course" .
  24. Order Date...........Colour..........Body..........Transmisison...........Fuel...........Build 22/12/2010...........Black..........Estate.........DSG....................Petrol.........quoted Week 06 - was built 6th Feb, eta 3 weeks
  25. I assume monitor for use is something on top of checking the seatbelt in plug if a passenger is in the seat? Normal behaviour on mine is If the passenger doesnt buckle up I get the seat belt warning sign and audio chime. Many thanks for the response and explanation.
