  1. Hello Mike! Thanks for the reply, and sorry I've only just seen it. I'm a bit out of the loop, and had forgotten the combi existed (!) in mk1. Anyway your link was brilliant and allowed me to confirm that the spring available from autodoc had the right OE number. I still can't believe that there's nothing in the country but fingers crossed the part arriving from Europe will match in reality as well as onlin. Thanks again,
  2. Hello all, I have a "well-used" MK1 4x4 with a cracked rear coil spring. Any ideas on here on where I might be able to source a replacement pair? The usual sources (Skoda, TPS, Euro Car Parts) have it listed as obsolete. Thanks in advance,
  3. Hello, I'm looking to retro-fit cruise control to my 2011 Octavia. The car had Maxi Dot from the factory, and steering wheel module 5K0 953 569 C. Having read the excellent guide from Mike Holroyd (linked below) and the information at the Ross Tech wiki at http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/Steering_Wheel_Control_Module_Versions , I think the steering wheel module already fitted should support the CC. My questions are: Can anyone tell me the part number of the stalk I need to order Can anyone confirm that my steering wheel module is, indeed, "Cruise ready"? And, finally, I have a full (genuine) CAN VCDS cable and the (12 point, from memory??) tool to undo the steering wheel bolt. Are there any "surprises" I should be looking out for? Many thanks, T
  4. Mine's done it for 7 years and counting.....
  5. Hi TKW. I've been advised to get in touch with you for a VCDS for my Octavia 2 which has an ABS and ESP warning light showing.
I'm in Canterbury and have had some bad advice from my local Skoda dealership and have been advised by Briskoda members to get car scanned by someone like yourself. Looking forward to hearing from you.

    Many thanks

  6. Right, now I promise I had searched before posting, but have just found a thread which I'm going to investigate further! Any other advice gratefully received in the meantime.
  7. Hello, The problem I have a problem with one of the windows on my car - it currently refuses to roll up! It seems like it's triggering the "arm / leg / head / other appendage in the way" sensor, and stops while rolling up, before rolling back down a few cm. This happens whether I try pulling the switch all the way up for auto closing, or holding on the first "notch". What I have tried The car is kept clean, and I've run a sponge around the slot that the glass would sit in when in the "up" position, and didn't get any real dirt out. I've also checked, and there are no obvious other obstructions. If I trigger the rain close function by locking the car and pouring water over the rain sensor, the window tries a few times to wind up but stops (at different points each time, so definitely not a static obstruction.) I have also run a scan with a fully-registered VCDS and found no fault. Next? Any suggestions? It feels like there's just too much resistance, but I don't know why, or where to try lubricating (?) or with what. If the suggestion is to take the door apart, are there any photo guides to help me? It's a FL Octavia 2. Thanks, T
  8. A coding error that you just haven't spotted since you made it? Have you a history of codings for the central electrics module?
  9. As everyone else has said, that video shows classic battery (accumulator) problems. Resting voltage doesn't tell you very much about battery health. Follow GFWC's advice and report back.
  10. Hello, I have a FL Octavia and am trying to work out which parts I need to order to retrofit 1) Cruise 2) MFSW (possibly, if cost not too high) I fitted my own CC to a Mk1 Octavia, but things seem to have become more complex!!! I have VCDS which identified the steering controller as Address 16: Steering wheel (J527) Labels: 5K0-953-569.clb Part No SW: 5K0 953 521 BJ HW: 5K0 953 569 C but the Ross Tech site doesn't identify whether this is a low-, mid- or high-line version. Can anyone advise whether it will need replacing, and which parts I would need (eg would fitting a MFSW require a new airbag?) for CC and MFSW. Many thanks, T
  11. Hi, Been a long time but I'm now "back in the fold" with a 2011 (FL) Octavia. I've so far managed to code the DRLs and a few other bits and bobs using my VCDS lead, and have now set my sights on cruise control and a MFSW ... questions to follow in the correct forum! In the meantime, have a look at these photos from the last time I was here and see if anyone recognizes themselves Bonus points for the location. T
  12. Well that's a job for the winter lined up!
  13. What's the exact model of your car / engine?
