  1. Most external hard disk drives [HDD ] that are advertised as portable are also powered via the USB cable. Same goes for newer solid state drives [sSD ].....but don't get me started on the differences between USB versions.....although I would be interested to hear what the new superb supports You can get sub 500GB portable HDD now for very little money <£30 although the SSD are still a lot more expensive in comparison. You just have to make sure they are formatted correctly which can be a challenge as they might not be what the car needs by default
  2. My s2 Columbus has always showed just over 18GB free on the internal drive btw. Never used it though, as I've always had a HDD or SSD attached via USB to the MDI
  3. Well as per my other thread, in the end I decided to defect for my next company car lease and ordered a Jag XE. In all likelihood I'll be looking on and seeing you lot driving around happily in your new Superbs and still be waiting! I hope you all love them.
  4. I'm not an estate fan tbh I can of course see the differences, but looks-wise the side on view is pretty darn close. At a quick glance you'd be forgiven for mixing them up I reckon.
  5. The brochure suggest the L&K has a black leather interior option btw..... .....but only if you go with the ventilated seats extra.
  6. Disappointing wheel options on the L&K and no all, black interior option, you can't even "downgrade" to what is on offer in the SE L. I know they need differentiators, but one would expect paying a premium the choices ought to be more expansive :(
  7. To be honest I found it less useful than I thogught I would in my superb ii hatch. I decided on it to make loading heavy items in easier (bass guitar amps and speaker cabs that weigh a tonne!) In everyday use though I find it gets in the way a bit. Once unfastened I had trouble latching it down again and you lose a few inches in width where the sides are fitted in as well as having a slightly useless void between the outside edge of these and the storage boxes over the rear wheel arches. So on balance I don't think for my needs its something I would bother with again. The dual opening boot though has been a godsend. Absolutely loved it. I know many others moan about it though.
  8. hi all I finally made a decision, it was for the XE all the comments really helped and it made me realise that actually this was quite a "heart-based" decision in the end and despite to some extent trying overrule this with my head it just wasn't going to happen. Its probably ended up costing me more for the Jag in actuality because I ended up putting a few options on there that initially I was thinking I wouldn't, but well.....you only live once! At the end of the day I've been driving Skodas for 12 years, pretty much trouble-free and I am not leaving because I think they are bad in any way and I am definitely not a badge snob. I'd still consider another Skoda in the future definitely. I just fancy driving round with a big smile on my face enjoying the experience rather than just having the inner smugness that I'm the (simply) clever one who got best value for money. I know others will disagree but there you go! Thanks for everyone's input.
  9. by the way I realise that the Jag XE £1500 option on autos for ACC includes "Queue Assist" which appears to be equivalent to the Skoda Traffic Jam Assist. So the equivalent is available but if you compare to L&K at least you wouldn't be paying more for it in the Superb.
  10. its an all new aluminium body for the XE? who knows. My lease will be 42 months, and its a fully maintained one and that, so for me its immaterial
  11. To me this seems in line form what I've seen on my companies lease providers site. I agree there are some strange things, including for example on beige and brown interiors. I wonder if they work off the same db and skoda released the wrong info. Best wait for the Official UK comfigurator I guess!
  12. I'm surprised by that. I drove one last week and it all looked spot on
  13. sorry matey I am now confused as to what you were confused about! not sure about the trolling comment everything seems good in this thread to me and all the opinions are actually helping me, I don't expect everyone to have the same opinions and neither does anyone else. all the things you mentioned there on the superb aren't necessarily standard even on the L&K I think - bear in mind I am looking at manual transmission. But other than the traffic jam thingymabob and 10GB HDD (pretty tiny by today's standards I use a portable 350GB 2.5" HDD in the car!) they are available as options on the XE I've spotted only two XE's on the road since I've been looking over the last couple of weeks. I won't take your bet because of course the superb iii hasn't hit the streets yet so not a fair comparisons. There are plenty of superb ii round this neck of the woods though no dissing needed and no one looking down anyone's noses at anyone else's decision as far as I can see XE and Superb are great cars in their own right and what's best for one person isn't necessarily so for the next I think I'm 99% decided btw Its not an easy decision when 3 Skoda's in a row have given me a lot of trouble free driving and a heck of a lot for my money
  14. @jungleJames.....ACC is available only on autos (makes sense) and for Jag its a £1500 option. I was looking at a manual, although the autos also have the assisted start facility (for snow and ice conditions). Power-fold mirrors and rear view camera (parking pack) are options on all models, as are blind spot indicators - all of which I added to the standard XE Portfolio before comparing with the Superb L&K. the self-parking gizmos and 360 degree cameras are all extras too, also in the £1000 range but they aren't things I would be looking for anyway. as a fully maintained lease and it being a new car under warranty I can live with some hiccups and I have my own company and the lease company working for me if that's necessary. reliability on Jags is great as is skoda. So on this front I'm not worried about either being new model cars. @Coops - no probs, but no Estates or Greenline are on the system yet. I understand Estates will be about a month behind the hatch
  15. L&k 150bhp manual, p11d value is showing as £28685 Candy White is the zero price colour, all others are £360, interesting the same colours cost more on a lower trim car Zero cost leather options are unfortunately (this puts me off a bit) beige and brown. I don't know about the legalities of sharing at this stage and as all these are loaded up I am surprised they are not now all In the UK configurator or with dealers. If there is a specific item you are considering PM me
