Don't think that can be true. If you dont lock the cap after screwing it back on it stays unlocked, i.e next time you fill up, open flap unscew cap. No key needed.

Thanks, it's on the AM waveband at 198 metres. It will usually be broadcasting the same content as radio 4 FM. The sound quality will be poor, it always is at those low frequencies even with a "normal" aerial, but if you could just check that it does pick up speech that is reasonably audible I would appreciate it very much.

When getting into an auto from a manual rather than resting my left foot in its usual position next to the clutch pedal I initially place my left leg under my right leg with my foot tight against the seat front. This means you have to think about moving it rather than it being an automatic response to slowing, accelerating, engine note etc. after a while I am used to it and can move it back to it's normal position. At this point the fun can begin as you start left foot braking.

But freewheeling actually uses more fuel. As Dempsek said, modern cars cut all fuel to the engine on accelerator lift off i.e no fuel is burnt. When freewheeling you are still burning, albeit minimal, fuel because the engine is ticking over.

I'm not suggesting the figures are false, I just think that if Skoda experts such as James are a little incredulous there may be some omission of information. I know it said 45 litres, but they may have assumed it was the standard tank capacity as stated in the owners manual. You can get much more than the stated capacity into most tanks. As for how to, search for "fuel tank capacity" thread in the Fabia II forum, this will explain all. The same effect can be obtained on a garage forecourt on a hill. My last fill on my VRS (45 litre tank) took 47.9 litres and the gauge was showing just under 1/4 full when I stopped! I regularly had the same thing on my previous Mondeo 78 litres into a 70 litre tank and that didn't have a vent button, at least not to my knowledge.

Also he may know about venting the tank. In which case it would be closer to 55 litres of diesel at the start.

wmerrifield, have you the original brochure from the dealer valid for the date you ordered your car? If so and this states that the spare is included as standard I would contact Skoda customer service rather than the dealer. I can obviously see from your post number that you are not that familiar with the forum (unless you've been lurking for ages) but if you look around you will find a few examples of dealers not knowing their a**e from a hole in the ground. A case in point being the MDI cable.

That is usually caused by an electrolytic reaction between the alloy of the wheel and the steel of the hub. Best way to stop it is to use a thin layer of grease (I use copaslip) between any mating surfaces. Also whilst refitting the wheels ensure the wheel nuts/bolts are at the correct torque settings. Again I use a tiny amount of grease on the threads to inhibit rust. This may all seem a bit anal but preparation like this done at your leisure on a nice sunny day can prevent an experience like the mad monks, on a cold wet motorway hard shoulder in the pouring rain at 3 AM. Oh and before anyone has a go at me about putting grease on wheel threads, I've done it for years on road and race cars and never yet lost a wheel.

My estate came with the space saver.

Tunbridge Wells? thats OK, we're far enough apart to retain our individual exclusivity. Although I do occasionally go to Spa ind. est. for work. I have mine, delivered about 3 weeks ago, done about 900 miles so far. Love it. For a road car it's pretty quick, fairly well specced, and at that price terrific value. I have cruise as my only option and as it's a company car I can't really mod it at all, not that I would anyway, not my cup of tea. I get my speed thrills away from public roads. Ad Lav, if your near Janner you can't be too far away from me, I'm to the west of Medway but close enough for my son to go to school there. When yours arrives that'll be 2 White vRS estates in North Kent, that I know of. I might have to get shot of it, becoming far too common.

The VRS comes with a temporary"space saver" spare wheel as standard. It is stated in the brochure and mine was delivered with one installed 2 weeks ago. Edit @Lee if your dealer has charged you the £65 inc.VAT for the optional extra spare wheel they owe you some money!!

Hi Dolgoch I'm 90% certain that the Jan 2011 brochure states a space saver as standard (thats when i ordered mine), can't check as the brochure is at work, and the online one certainly does (I've just checked). If you can wait my VRS estate is being delivered Wednesday and I'll update this thread then. Unless of course any current owners want to jump in before then.

According to the online brochure the VRS comes with "a space saver temporary spare wheel".

Hi Martin, If it's any help ordered my White VRS estate, standard apart from cruise control, on 12 Jan. It's being delivered to me on Wednesday. This was via company car lease provider, so no idea of dealer or location. Since ordering the lease companies website has given a build date of 9th May, with dealer 30th May, right up until last week when it changed to build date 9th May, with dealer now, delivery to be arranged. So from that and multiple other posts on the subject there seems to be no logical reason why 1 car arrives before any other. Not which dealer, spec, colour, or options. It appears to be luck of the draw. I'm obviously happy because mine has arrived prior to expectations, other people, particularly some poor chap in Norway I think, are very annoyed because their dates keep slipping. Good luck with whatever you choose.

Personally I think it's a matter of coordination, White roof, standard silver lights and grill then silver wheels, black roof and black pack lights and grill then black or smoked wheels.

The other thing to bear in mind re extras, at least for those of us lucky enough to have company cars, is that as well as adding to the lease costs, some of which we may have to bear. It also adds to the P11D value, therefore more tax. Double whammy. Having had several company cars in the past it makes more sense for me to have only essential extras that can't be purchased aftermarket. Hence I've ordered cruise only. The garmin satnav & parrot bluetooth I already own and can take from car to car. So no fancy paint, coloured wheels, etc.
