  5. I always get the timing belts done due to experience Not my own Fabia VRS but I was driving a company car a Peugeot 306 ,I had just had it fully serviced, drove out of the garage and half a mile down the road the cam belt snapped, Engine replacement required, thankfully the company had to pay for that, ever since on my own cars I have had the Cam belt changed as recommended by the manufacturer
  6. No 28 from new fully serviced full MOT, I have had all maintainance from new and replaced cam belt twice, Now at 77k miles and the drivers side window has shattered needs new glass and a regulator and recently put on four new original alloys I still love my Fabia MK 1 VRS, but am not using it much now I am old maybe 200 miles a year for my grosersie shop 😞 We buy anycar has made a fair offer IMHO but not selling yet
  7. Reviving an old thread I still have much pain, but this time the Doc sent me for a SCAN Now confirmed I have had Ankylosing Spondilytis, (The hips and spine are fusing together no cure) supposed to be Genetic but no one in my family has had it Perhaps my Mum had a bike :-) Ones brain plays terrible thoughts/tricks I have genetic Ankylosing Spondylitis, no one else in the whole history of the family has had it My Brother has in remission Non Hodgkins Leukemia, no one else in the family has it, They would not take me as a bone marrow donor for him, (excuse I was too old and had AS, Which I find is/was bollicks) My Mum and Dad with us were a perfect family, no playing around in the 40's NOW we are in turmoil Why has he got that, Why have I got this, Why would they not let me be a perfect match donor (no tests taken) He is in remission thankfully, I am in pain taking strong morphine Both the same confirmed DNA Regards National
  8. For information From year two my 07 Blue LE #28 VRS started having intermittent window problems IE:- They stopped working, then four weeks later they did, Then they took on a six month cycle, closing down in OCT and working again FEB I had not the time, ability, or money to get them fixed I have always looked after the car, everything done just before time, and everything renewed as required. THEN it came to these damn windows Yesterday I bit the bullet (now retired) I took it in For your information this is the real cost for the most expensive repair Diagnostic checks fault code readings £45 Labour £22.50 Drivers Door Module from VW £162 VAT £41.92 TOTAL £251.54 I am happy even though it was expensive, but you now have this information, I was told on various forums that the part was £300+ the Labour over 2 hours. etc so I was put off Yes I have read people got a whole new door including all electrics for a tenner, but not me, I did not have the ability, and with the VRS I was not comfortable ripping the door card off and it forever not fitting quite right Hope this helps someone Regards National
  9. Confirm AdamW, This action resets it all, You need to hold the key in the unlock posn for at least 30 secs IF that does not work, then it is usually due to damp within the door electrics, the warmer weather will cure it, or try and get a hairdryer blowing into the door card
  10. I went to a Skoda dealer, advised them what had happened, said fine will get the correct code and call me at home :-) Surprise they actually did call me at home within thirty minutes, and radio working in three National
  11. OK I will come clean My experience was the other way about I was parked up outside the house for the day (Friday) I do not use the car at weekends My daughter had visited and on leaving said what happened to your car, the front was all mangled including the bonnet, my car was a Yellow Skoda VRS I called the police and in about an hour they turned up, and I explained the damage, they first felt the bonnet and engine, then asked for all my documents MOT, INSURANCE, TAX DISC etc and breathealised me Then went to my neighbours, my next door neighbour was very kind and explained the big blue Range Rover man who collects his buy to let rents, reversed into me, she was going to go out but noticed he was writing a note of explanation so did nothing (the note said sucker) I searched for him and his big blue Range Rover DID have yellow paint on the tow ball, got the police again, but they said it could not be proved as no one knew the registration, end of story I was stupid enough to make a claim on MY Insurance, which has cost me four times what the original cost would have been private (hit and run is classed as an at fault claim) I give you this as she is about to get a damn great bill, NOT you National
  12. Do not waste anymore time as time is of the essence Go to the police They will turn up and check YOUR CAR and advise like you there is nothing to note The longer you leave it can only create more hassle The police are quite happy to visit and you will then be covered National
  13. Nope, it only works for about 48hrs, and at £60 a pop I just have to stick with the pain National
  14. I have tried many things for the lower back pain After pain killers for four months, the day finally arrived for my NHS PHYSIO, strip off stand on left leg, stand on right leg, arms up arms down Then went on his PC on GOOGLE, printed out back pain exercises, handed it to me (lay on back raise knees to chest, ten times three times a day do not hold the postion) NEXT So I went to a professional Sports clinic Here I got a microwave heater set up through my hips, then after twenty minutes, a HUGE TENS machine, pads stuck on and turn the vol up to bearable, at the samer time massaging with some sort of glass tube When my hour was up, they said now the sore bit £60, I did not find that sore the hours work was great, and even better was the fact I could stand up and walk to the payment desk pain free :-) Unfortunately the pain was back after two days So I went back, this time they used a magnetron thing, like an MRI Scanner but just like a meter pipe around your hips, then the tens again same £60 same relief, then again back to the usual I can not see HOW it all started, I had not had any problems, just got up one morning with back pain, that got worse over a week, and been that way since Thanks for the discussion anyway guys Regards National
  15. co- codamol 30/500 prescription only pain killers, unless you live anywhere else in Europe where you can buy them over the counter, along with anti-biotics co - codamol starts at 8/500 then 15/500 up to the top 30/500 after that the next step is Morphine The above space you out, you do not really feel pain, just aware the muscle/nerve is there, and do not know what day it is I did have severe neckpain, and eventually found that when it had eased wearing a neck collar/brace for a month kept it away for a while after I still have the agony of lower back pain for over a year now, Doc just says it "could" be a bit of sciatica National
