Trickle Battery Chargers, Ring Automotive RSC808
I created a thread recently about a battery upgrade and it was very informative. Because of my own driving habits it is clear to me it would be best if I connect a trickle charger to my new battery in situ. When trickle chargers are mentioned everyone starts banging on about their CTEK and with good reason, they are good by all accounts. But my days are gone when I could just throw money at things, now I have to think about budget. The Ring RSC808 has good reviews, has some odd quirks, the main one for me is, if I understand correctly, if the battery level/charge is below a certain level, it sees the battery as defective and won't charge. As one reviewer put it, " a battery charger that won't charge a dead or below a level unless you charge battery first ". With that in mind does anyone here have or used the Ring Automotive RSC808 and what they think of it?

Battery Upgrade
Hi, Yes I was aware of this. It was the 027 prices you quote I could not find a match for on Tayna's site. Was wondering if those prices were for standard non-start stop batteries. My coment on buying batteries of ebay was just that, caution!.

Not sure if prices quoted for Tayna are start/stop batteries. If I have a slight knee jerk, it would be purchasing a car battery off ebay There are of course lots of honest sellers on ebay, lots of fakes on ebay to.

Battery Upgrade
Can't tell you if you have made a mistake, can tell you I for one thought your post a good read and easy enough to understand.👍 Still not sure if I should swap to a new 096 or stick to a new 027 battery, do know throuh others, the swap is easy enough. "Mine are a bit contrary to the battery charging obsessive fetishist evangelists" Not sure I'm one of them but flogging my existing car battery back into some use does have an appeal.😀

Where to get hardened bolts from
Thanks for that Ken. What I meant to say is retail or on line,it doesn't matter I can travel to shops, bit nearer to me I hope. On the Yeti 1.2, TSI 2016 hardened injector rail bolts, what size would I ask for.

Thankyou, Given how my car will be used, short journeys and infrequent should I stick to a 027 or upgrade to a 096, what are your views.

Where to get hardened bolts from
Did the issue with the Skoda YETI injectton rail bolts shearing or working lose ever get resolved by Skoda. I have read on this site to use hardened bolts, correct size, where would I buy these from.

Thanks. Will there be enough play in the leads even if a bigger battery is an inch or so longer.

Battery Upgrade
Yes but why make it so easy for myself when I can make it a little harder, I can get my hands on a used heat resistant cover and chop and sew but your right, like for like, no hassle. The new larger battery will be EFB, I didn't know a heat resistant cover was more imperitive with AGM. My thinking is due to my car's infrequent use and its start/stop feature, fit bigger battery, it will have more Ah, more CC and set up car for trickle charge. But I could do the same with a new 027 battery to keep it in good condition. Don't know if I should choose larger battery option or stick to same, either one use a trickle charger.

Battery Upgrade
Thanks, Don't know what a battery heat cloth is, do you mean the battery cover, if so your right, I will need to make a bigger one, what would I make it from. Found an Exide battery EXIDE 096 EFB Stop / Start Car Battery 12V 70AH 720CCA seems to fit the bill £110 delivered As it will be longer, I think the battery leads will have to be extended,, at least the postive lead, again not an issue. More concern about coding a larger battery to the ECU, if I have it done, any issues. With the car being used as it will, am I approaching this the right way or should I stick to a like for like.

Battery Upgrade
2015 Yeti 1.2 TSi with start/stop Original factory fitted EFB 60amp battery, so a replacement is due and will be replacing it with Varta EFB brand if I stick to size like for like basis. Taking into account where the battery sits and its dimensions I'd like to fit a larger battery, more cold starting capicity. The car will be mostly used for short trips and infrequently. Would a larger Ah battery be better under such circumstanses, what could be fitted. Fitting a larger battery any issues with coding the ECU
