  1. So just to close this one off, pin4 was used as sidelights into the single black wire on the relay and it triggered both sidelights on the trailer. I towed for six hours and used every function without an issue. So all good thank goodness. 😊
  2. Good point, however I've just come in from finishing, so too late to save me. Nothings gone wrong yet, I connected the rh side light input from the relay to the pin 4 grey red from the loom. Everything now works perfectly in all conditions with all lights on etc. No other combination of inputs triggered the side light feed so this must it, I hope. How long would it take to fry the control unit? 🤔
  3. So pin 8 is feed for fogs, it isn't shared its dead until fogs switched on. Swapping brake feed pin2 to right side rom left didn't change a thing. Therefore I can only conclude pin 4, which is always 12v, and changed to 14v when lights are on is the side light feed. This means then that you don't have to follow the shared feed info on the relay instructions (leave out black and brown) OR my trailer board doesn't have sode lights which I don't belive...! I'll try adding the black or brown from relay to pin 4seewhat happens but I'm guessing the side lights on the trailer will be on all the time and the draw will upset the control module to throw a fault. Let's see.
  4. Car is mk2 facelift superb. I think I need to supply the fog and brake from the rh loom currently from the left hand loom. Especially as the left hand side doesn't have a fog! I noticed the brake feed on lh is 1.4v until brake pressed then 13.2v I noticed the right loom brake feed is 14.3v with sidelights on, and when sidelight and fog on. Then it's 14.6 when brake pedal pressed. I assume this shows the brake feed on the rh loom carries the side lights power and not the left loom. Therefore if I wire brake feed to the rh loom it should power sides! Will try tonight. Looks like pin 4 on both sides is a power feed for the multi led part of lights to let it do its thing with the led stripe, powering them up and down etc to get side brake or fog. Anyone concur?
  5. Hi yes I've done that, fused supply from drivers fuse panel to relay.
  6. Hi, Order if anyone knows how to connect a feed to a 7 way relay to power sidelights on a trailer? I've check all connections and seem okay apart from sidelights/tail lights. I tried to work out which loom wire goes tonwhich bulb wire on the lamp unit and came up with below. From cars loom: Black green indicator bulb Black blue always on but feed to reverse bulb on lamp unit Brown earth's Side lights brake light and fog all on Led panels plug, see below Grey white to yellow on lampcluster rear foglight These Both act same same: Purple red to white on lamp cluster Black Red to brown on lamp cluster The rely feed from grey white trigger outlet 2 for fogs all the time, but nothing happens on trailer board. Can anyone label the cars loom plug for the driver side rear light please for me, ie colour and functions? I understand not to connect black and brown wires from relay to allow relay to know its got a twin feed. Thanks..
  7. Brilliant that's perfect advice, this will help immensely! Thank you sir.
  8. Hi, ive got a 2014 estate and it has an original towbar, skoda brand. It was supposed to have a detachable hitch. However thats lost, it was part no 3t0 803 882 Does anyone know the distance from mount point to ball centre. I'm trying to find one online but there loads of others that look like they'll fit but obviously all different lengths for bumper clearance. Can anyone measure theirs please? I would guess a passat b6 might fit?
  9. Finally got it sorted. the rear screw you have no chance of fitting so I fitted the top bolt and clicked the lower one into its holder, seems to work okay and tight. To fit the rear screw you would need to take the vent off the top of the fan housing, i tried but couldn't work it out. In the photo you can see how tight it is just to reach top 6mm bolt! All back together now and working fine. £15 job While I was down there I notice this disturbing clip for side panel actual resting on the air con\water pipe! Rubbing through. So I popped some cardboard between.
  10. So i got a motor, heres the photos for future redernece. It moves the flaps but i think ill get another or new one. Still have got the bolts fixings fir it as dont know what they are....anyone know?
  11. Does look like one, you can gently prise the facia off and it's four torx screws (size 25?) And it'll fall out. What I cant find is what to do with the integrated airbag light from the stereo. If fitting a new one do you have to connect the airbag indicator and just leave it in the dash? Does it even come out of the stereo?
  12. OK - so today the motor turned up. I plugged it in and it works, not 100% convinced it sounds strong but its second hand and needs to just prove its the right one from the myriad of motor options out there!! I'll post the part no later. The sole remaining 6mm bolt at the back came undone and I dropped it down back of fan, never to be seen again. Great start 😆 so I need two of these now. The motor key fit and it moved the flaps when I pressed my hand on it to hold it onto the cogs. Sadly that rear 6mm bolt was there because you can't get to it when the motors in position! So the whole air intake fan unit has to come out to refit the motor. If this proves possible I may bite the bullet and buy a new one from akoda, £175!!!! Second hand cost me £15 so maybe I'll buy a few..more now I know which one and see if any sound stronger.... What a nasty little job just because the angle of the motor!
  13. Here's what I'm faced with, I've rebuilt the linkage and put the flaps back, I can spin the wheel by hand and the flaps operate OK. Just waiting for the motor. I see one bolt left in so that's good not sure how the rest attaches. Nondoubt wrong motor on order from fleabay....
  14. Sweet moses. Ive ordered a motor to see if I can get it going, hopefully I dont need the wierd cover bit on the side. I also hope I can work out the puzzle of arms and cogs etc!!
