  1. Evening all, recently had issue with my DSG in my Mk7 Golf Gti. I have now fitted a new clutch in the car, however I require the clutch resetting which is done so via VCDS. Wondering if anyone is available around the Haslingden in Lancashire area who can come and reset it for me? Regards Adam
  2. Been running mine since around April/May time. Done a fair few miles on it now, still needing some mapping tweeks as I have been having issues with boost leaks so got some new pipework to get fitted. Should have dyno results on mine next weekend all being well
  3. I'm gonna change the drop links and the anti roll bar bushes and if those don't solve the issue then the console bushes will be replaced for new items. Unsure as to stick with Powerflex or not now....
  4. Other than a little bit more movement on the gearbox side than I'd like things seem okay to me.
  5. I've started to notice a clunking noise when braking hard and pulling off in my vrs. I first noticed it on track a few weeks ago, you could pretty much feel the clunk near your feet. Someone has mentioned that it could be the console bushes but I'm running powerflex ones, granted they are a few years old now but surely it can't be them? Anyway to test and find out whats causing the issue?
  6. I'm interested to see how the block comes out myself. Having only used industrial stuff in our washing off tank would be good to see how it compares. Ours usually gets changed weekly but the newer stuff we use is no where near as good as the older products we can no longer get. How much is the bag and recommended mixing numbers?
  7. Managed to finally sort an alloy boost pipe up towards the ASV, got that fitted a few weeks back. The other week I set about giving the car a quick machine polish ready for a few shows. And the finish afterwards Last weekend I attended USC at Santa Pod with a few mates. I managed to get a set of TT comps from another forum member on here and managed to blag a set of Yoko Advan A006T road legal super soft compound tyres from my boss at work to be used for dragging. Loaded up with all my camping gear And waiting to head down the strip at pod Cooling off next to my mates ST Best time I did all weekend was a 13.7, it was a very hot weekend so I think heat soak was a major issue so looking at ways to get more cold air into the engine for future use.
  8. Best of luck getting in there on a Friday night. It will be rammed with people down Nash and Magic
  9. Another Lancs member here, live in Accrington myself
  10. Just tell him to wind his neck in if he starts Looking good Kev, really suits the new windows and finishes it off nicely.
  11. Assuming that this is a BLT engine, do you have the coolant hoses? I'm getting Samco to make a kit for the market and could make life easier if you have them all.
  12. Slight update. The other weekend Itook my car in to have the wheels refurbed as I wasn't happy with the stone chips etc on them and they didn't look right even when touched up. The colour is slightly lighter, which isn't a bad thing as people may realise they are purple and not black now haha. And back on the car I should have an update regarding the mapping over the next couple of days and progress more with it
  13. Alex dropped his block and crankshaft off with myself last Friday for machining. Will be cracking on with that over the next couple of weeks and supplying himself with the pictures etc
  14. I'm running Bridgestone Potenza Adrenalin RE002, not exactly cheap tyres but not the most expensive either. I ran them before my engine blew up running 264bhp and had no issues with this twitchyness so I'm ruling out a tyre issue tbh
  15. I haven't no as I haven't removed the track rod ends or the ball joints which could alter the geometry in any way, just refitted the polybushes that was removed and fit it all back together. Tyres are the same part worn ones as was fitted beforehand so don't think its tyres, even checked all the pressures and they was fine. The car feels like its hitting standing water when it does it. Could a worn engine mount cause the pulling?
  16. Hoping some of you guys on here can help out. I've noticed the last few days my steering seems rather twitchy now that I have wound the boost back upto 2.5bar. If I let off the revs around the 3k mark and then apply throttle again, the car seems to pull to the right. I can feel the car pulling and wandering all over the road when under throttle. The car is fitted with an LSD. It kinda feels like you are hitting a pool of standing water. I have recently had the front suspension in bits and replaced the top mounts, top mount bearings and new droplinks also. The car is powerflexed on the front end aswell. Could a knackered engine mount cause these issues as the gearbox mount seems to have a bit of play in it?
  17. Currently in the process of mapping the car with much thanks to John. Currently running 2bar or boost right now, but have a 2.3 and a 2.55 bar map to be uploaded and logged in the morning.
  18. Good work Alex progress is coming along nicely, be worth all the hard work in the end
  19. Thanks very much Jars, tbh it was fairly simple to make, just faffing about to cut the material to the correct size and angles. Further progress update. I made a start on polishing the wheels up, I have also touched up a few stone chips, most of them seem to be on the rear wheels. However I haven't fully finished the wheels due to running out of time and needing the car mobile again so will be removing them and finishing them off soon. Cheeky pic part way through the machine polish. I had a go at one of the spokes before I touched up the stone chips to see how it came up. Before After On friday afternoon I went and collected my parts from the powdercoaters. Then late into friday night I spent a while applying Platinum Wheels to my coilovers, springs, and the RARB aswell as building back up the coilovers ready for refitting. Then on saturday I set about refitting my freshly powdercoated parts. Started off with the rear beam and fitted the powerflex beam bushes first of all. Didn't get many pics inbetween the torrential downpours we had but managed a few final pics once back together
  20. Thank you very much. I'm not no, I am a CNC machine operator by trade but have been messing about with cars and trucks from a young age so I'm pretty handy with a spanner
  21. Took me about a day and half to make it in the end took a bit of time and effort to measure and get it all right. Its 1m wide and 10cm high. Its 1inch box section with 2.5mm thick wall. The cross sections were started an inch in from the ends and equally split between the 4 parts
  22. And the wheels The wheels have come up a hundred times better but very badly require a machine polish now followed by some Platinum wheels How the car currently sits
  23. Major update time. Been a very busy boy lately, car has now done around 1500miles so it has had an oil change, I had issues with my VCDS cable so wasn't able to carry out any logs until John kindly sent me his spare, however I can't run any logs as the car if currently off the road once again. I have stripped the front and rear suspension off to send the tired looking coilover springs to the powdercoaters to tidy them up for the show season. I have also stripped off the wishbones and rear beam and the RARB also also sent them to be powdercoated also I then had to remove the bushes from the rear beam using a drill, hammer and chisel anda blow torch The replacement bushes for the rear beam along with some shifter link bushes The nice pile of parts to be taken to the powdercoaters Some of you may notice the part on the left in the above pic. I decided to make myself a custom crash bar from 1" box section. First of all take one majorly butchered standard crash bar. Then bolt it onto a piece of dexium to act as a jig. Then take an angle grinder to the front cross member and remove it from the legs. Then cut the legs down to the desired height The work then started on the framework. A sample fit to see what it looks like I then decided to add cross members for extra support And all welded up This weekend I set about cleaning the coilovers and the neglected wheels.
  24. As Kev has said the arch liners aren't cheap, I priced them up about £38 each so a very expensive job to replace the full set
  25. Only way to sort the cam issue is by replacing the camshaft with a new item along with a new set of lifters and shells for the cam itself.
