  1. Reliability mainly, and it drives a lot better than a stock Fabia.
  2. I have just put my VRS SE/LE up for sale so its time to say goodbye! I have gone back to Honda's for now, but you never know i maybe back at some stage. I'm sure ill still be browsing around as usual.
  3. I lost my locking wheel nut key and i ordered one from eBay as i foolishly thought mine was spline type, but it's not. Can anyone tell me what type of key this is? Is it original or 3rd party?
  4. Hmm, well i think if that was the case then it would happen every time the car is cold, but it seems to be intermittent.
  5. I did change the fuel filter a few months ago and replaced the little seals don't think it's leaking as couldn't see any when running. Don't notice any smoke apart from hard acceleration due to map. Just went to the car after a couple hours and again started on the button.
  6. So not sure if this has any bearing but got in the car this morning and started on the button straight away, my driveway is on a slope with the front facing down. Maybe it only happens on flat not sure.
  7. Do you know how to test it with a multimeter to be sure?
  8. Yer I was thinking that or injector seals I don't know. I don't want to chuck money at it for the sake of it but guess that is a cheap part to start with.
  9. Hi, Seem to have a problem with my vrs more when cold I think. After work I went to start it and wouldn't start. I tried again and got it to start but cut out, did this a couple of times and managed to keep it running, pulled away and it was kangarooing quite aggressively once or twice when off the throttle. I have checked the battery and alternator and seems ok. I scanned it with a crappy cheap scanner and no faults. Not sure what else it can be. Any ideas would be great.
  10. @OldTrilobite I'm not from the worst place in the UK, but it certainly isn't great! The doctors and NHS is so stretched and overworked that i just feel like a pain going to them. I did swap to another GP after that incident who specialised in Mental Health, he was a lot better, but sadly he has now retired so i rarely visit the doctors. If i wan't an appointment it's a minimum of three weeks or ring up first thing for an "emergency appointment" where i can just sit and wait. That's why in the end i paid for private care and although it's expensive it is a lot better. Thank you for sharing your story, i think it's important for people to discuss their experiences. Personally medication didn't work for me, but i didn't only try a few. I know it can work for some and that is great. It doesn't matter how you find help, just get some. You sound like a really strong guy and you are able to ride it out which is great If you do need to talk to someone you can always drop me a PM. If you have even one person who can support you then it's great, it really can make the difference between surviving or not, sadly for me that wasn't really the case and had to rely on myself to make it through.
  11. Ah my apologies i misread. The fact that you understand it to a point and accept it rather than being in denial or letting it overpower you is still a feat. What do you do when your feelings build? Some people do just crack on, but it's more of a cover up than actually dealing with and facing their problems.
  12. I hope the case is resolved quickly to avoid any further stress for yourself and family. Sometimes family/friends can make the difference between surviving or not, so it's great you have that support For what the NHS provides it is good and i feel bad criticising it as the people that work in hospitals are under massive stress. Over worked and underpaid springs to mind, but i do think the government needs to do more in this area. It's fantastic that we can use forums for extra support when we need it and that's what is becoming apparent to me, that even if you don't have the support you need like myself and so many others then there is a place you can go to that can help. As we all share a similar interest in cars it can help massively.
  13. Thank you very much, it means so much to get some positive responses from others on what can be a very difficult subject. I am so sorry to hear about what happened to your wife, especially when it's something that can potentially be avoided (like medical negligence) Did you take the hospital to court or anything like that? I can only imagine the pain you went through and to come out the other side stronger is such a credit to you! Do you have a strong network of family/friends? Did you seek any help? How did you cope. Apologies with all the questions, just trying to get an idea as to what people do. This thread has been great so far, so thank you to everyone that has contributed. I am already in talks with another car forum to arrange a charity show/meet so i may get in contact with the Admins here to see if that's something they would like to be apart of.
  14. It is sad to hear such stories, i have been in very similar situations myself. It's so hard for people to get the support and help they need and they end up doing things like that and feel like there is no end. How did that affect you? I know a lot of train drivers can be affected quite strongly by incidents like that. No worries, whenever you are ready, no rush.
  15. Thanks for sharing your experience, do you know what started your depression? It may be a bit too little to late for people like us, that's why i want to build awareness and an environment where people can discuss their problems openly without fear. However if we start doing something now it will help others who suffer or will suffer at points in their life's. I am 27 and only just getting a on top of it myself. Mental health spans such a wide area, it's not just depression and people don't understand if you haven't experienced it. Even then i may not necessarily understand what someone else is going through, but i feel i would be in a better position to offer them support. It's great that you have activities that help you, i think diet and exercise is massively underrated as a natural treatment, i have recently went back to the gym and fell epic afterwards. For me medication didn't help and i wasn't really willing to keep trying lots of different drugs as it was interfering with work etc. I will look into Albert Ellis, not someone i am familiar with. I wish you all the best and if you need to chat then i'm always around or you can PM me. OK, well that is great. Seems like you have it covered so well done for being able to conquer it and crank on as you say. That's not good, do you mind expanding on it? You can also PM if you want to chat. What has been done so far about it?
  16. Google can be dangerous sometimes, it convinces you that you have certain problems when that may not be the case. It's good that you can recognise certain things and it has helped you. Have you ever seeked any help? Do you feel that you need it? Thank you for sharing, not sure how long ago that was, but unfortunately back when i was 10 (2001) no one really had any idea about mental health. Although it may of been a while ago it might still be worth talking to someone, be it me or others here or to a professional. It's not great to bottle your feelings and carry them around with you for years.
  17. Thank you, wasn't sure where to post.
  18. Hi everyone, I recently posted a thread on another car forum about mental health and i have had a really positive response. I am thinking about organizing a charity car meet or show to raise some money and awareness and it would be great (depending on response here) to have the support of fellow Briskoda members. I will past in my original post below and feel free to discuss or PM me if needs be :) I know this can be quite a dark topic at times, but i have been thinking more and more about writing on the topic and having people to discuss it with would be a bonus, as most of us share a common interest in cars i thought it may help. In the last 12 months or so i have seen more advertisement on TV and other media that are raising awareness, but there is still a negative stigma attached when you mention mental health problems. There is still a long way to go IMO. Is there anyone else here that suffers with any form of mental health issue and would be willing to share their experiences? You don't have to post publicly, you can PM me if you wish. I won't go into too much detail regarding my own experiences as i am a little short on time (i can go into further detail at a later date if requested). Here is a brief version of my story... Growing up has been tough for me, i have an alcoholic father and a mother who struggles to cope, but would rather stay in this situation then take a risk and move on. I also lost a lot of close family and then friends/partners as i progressed through my teens. It left me broken quite honestly, I have been through councillors, doctors, hospitals, therapists and various medication. I even had a stint at a mental health home after trying to take my own life during college. I remember seeing my GP and explaining what was happening only for him to tell me i didn't know what stress was and didn't take me seriously, as you can imagine this only made things worse and is part of the negative/lack of understanding on the matter. This has left me as a very negative person and someone who struggles with emotions and relationships. It has left me feeling empty, lonely and without purpose. I find my self desperate for connections with people and acting the fool to try and make people like me. I feel like i don't know my own identity and personality as i have spent so long trying to fit in. Currently i am seeing a private therapist and whilst it is expensive, it has helped me a lot over the past 6-8 months. Generally i do feel better, but i have my off patches like this week. I can see a future now rather than a black hole with no end, talking about it to people who understand definitely helps, but it is hard and i do suffer with a lack of support around me so have to rely on myself to keep going. Anyway that is my story in short, any experiences you have had and would like to share would be great. PS: Anyone with comments like man up or things like that clearly don't understand so please refrain from commenting as i would like to create a thread where people can be honest and open without fear of being laughed at or abused.
  19. Update time. Back to unit18 this morning and egr delete fitted. Didn't take long and I wasn't charged anything in the end which was nice. We had a chat about other things on the car and we went for a drive in it and he confirmed the turbo is on the way out. So now I have to decide if I wanna spend the money on a turbo and probably clutch and flywheel in the future or just move on. :(
  20. Yer what TMB said, thanks for the advice tho Richard. The rear doors are all good now, need to wash the car to double check. I will need to give the carpet a scrub and service the aircon, that is on my list of jobs. I will get round to checking the door wiring once i get another multi meter as mine is broken. The vacuum box on mine is all good. Right now im more concerned about turbo whistling away so will check that as a priority.
  21. Sad to hear, i feel for you. I don't want this thread to turn into a Unit18 bashing thread, but i think it's also good to let others know mine or others experiences. I also don't want this to ruin my first Skoda experience. Once it has been fitted i will go from there and see how the car performs. Will be inspecting the turbo this weekend as i think the whistling is a sign of failure.
  22. Don't think Ross is still there tbh. Rang Unit18 today as i hadn't heard from them, the part has arrived so i asked will the cost of the part and labour be covered. The cost of the part yes but labour no, so i said i will collect the part and do it myself. Alistair then spoke to me and said no they have to fit it because they want to check and see if there is anything causing it to break and it's their remap so wants to protect their reputation. I then said OK fine, but if it was broken before (which i don't believe as it wasn't leaking) why didn't anyone ring me and tell me. He said they should of rang me and he apologised. He has made an exception for me in this case and will fit the part on a weekend because i can't have anymore time off work, but i am a bit upset that i have to pay for some labour when i'm pretty confident the part wasn't broken before. Just doesn't fill me with much confidence. So overall a mixed bag, but i just want it sorted and to move on. I'm hoping the new part resolves some of my running issues.
  23. Not sure what the setup is like on these cars regarding the clutch master cylinder if it's concentric or not. Sounds like it could be that or the cables stretched or maybe the clutch and flywheel itself.
  24. I would start checking all the normal things, plugs, leads/coils any vacuum leaks etc. Could clean the MAP sensor if it has one and plug it in to check the readings etc.
