  1. Been off the forum for a while as i have moved on. It's been a good few years with my Skoda octavia mk2 2.0 petrol vrs. Forum members have been cool and a fun set of people to chat with.A good general spread of different cars. Loved my modded VRS , but it was time to move on. Wanted to stay with Skoda but nothing came within my price range to stay. Fancied a bigger engined car either a V6 or a V8. The Suberb was the top of my list , but the 4x4 variants were out of my price bracket. Also the dreaded road tax is really high. So i have moved onto pastures new. Managed to bag myself a Audi A8 4.2 petrol V8 2004 vintage. So still in the v.a.g group. Still miss the vrs ability to surprise and out handle most cars in it's class , but the new car is a bit of a beast and my first audi since my old 90 quattro from back in days. Hoping to attened the this years v.a.g tuner show , so hopefully will some of you there ...take care. It's been fun.
  2. Loved the all black grill , but think mine needed something to break up the blackness a bit. But who knows, the year is young.
  3. Try mad motors. At the time the only place that sold it was ebay. http://www.madmotors.co.uk/concept-rs-skoda-octavia-mk2-rs-04-pre-facelift-front-splitter-abs-plastic.html . This is the same as mine from the picture and a few quid cheaper too. Unfortunately mine is now gone. The front lip proved too low for where I live and after a while leaving certain supermarkets speed bumps and such ....it looked like an animal was chewing it. Although it's ABS had to change mine unfortunately to the seat cupra r version that has been used by everyone . Was tempted by another one , but have to be practical. Good luck , already miss mine.
  4. Sometimes its good to go with what you feel/like rather than what everyone else thinks , otherwise we would all drive clones of each others cars. Go for it.
  5. I like it , already have the lower rear one. Wondered what it would look like on. Thing is do you want it subtle or obvious ? My car is black so it would kind of subtle ....perhaps too subtle.
  6. No problems with my Dectanes , however from the information from Dectane , not all Octavia's are the same. So when buying make sure that you get the correct ones for you car ...Not just Fl and pre-Fl , but for example the VRs and Scout versions are diffrent from the normal Octavia. Mine were plug & play after i double checked with Dectane before ordering.
  7. Wow how hard can it be to confirm a relay location? Trying to find a proper relay diagram with labels seems like finding chickens teeth. This is the first time in nearly 25 years of sorting out little problems ....that's so frustrating. Well looks like i'll have to find a haynes manual ....oh my gosh in this day and age, would you believe it.
  8. Well replaced the the (404) relays with the updated relays from skoda. Still no joy. Car won't start still getting J17 relay open circuit. Now unsure where to go next. Here is a picture of my relay board under the steering wheel.
  9. Despite above comments , mine has been on two years no problems, wrapped with titanium lava ( yeah i know ) heat sheilding , fitted with a 200 cell sports cat ...fitted by a exhaust specialist. Cannot complain especially at that price. Seen the pipeworx and the jetex versions ...they have a better finnish ...i.e. the welds are nicely finished. But from my experience so far this is well worth the money. Check it everytime i get the car tracked .....
  10. Thanks for that , but my under instrument layout looks completely different .....although it does have a pair of (404 ) relays. chnaged the one in the engine bay. Thats not it. Process of deduction goes on. :S
  11. That's what i though , but that is one of the relays under that dash ........that seems to be a power relay, or a fuel relay .....hence my confusion. The best i have been able to find is relay no 167 ...grey in colour in the engine bay. So ordered that one from skoda to see if it's the right one. Looks like i'm on a mission ...will try and post pics and info if i get it sorted.
  12. Car started then stopped the other day ......got fuel pump relay (J17) open or short to ground fault code. Been looking to find locations for the fuel pump relay. Seems that they are in two locations. One in the engine bay and one under the drivers side dashboard. Tried ordeing from GSF , using my reg number. They were the incorrect ones. Now I'm confused. Tried finding diagrams or pictures show where the fuses are. No luck. Tried looking on this forum ...again no luck. A relay change should be a two minute job on a modren car. For some reason the locations for the these on a skoda octavia 1Z pre-fl 2.0 vrs ...are like chickens teeth. Does anyone have either a proper location diagrams or pictures showing this/these relays so i can confirm what i'm looking at ? Thanks.
  13. Also don't forget koni , they also do a STR.T matched set , very reasonable price. Matched with either H&R or Eibach pro springs. They are more of an oem+ set up. I have fitted ( the long way round ) Eibach pro springs and afterwards changing the dampers to koni str.t. Had bought the fitted the springs on the original dampers after about a year needed new dampers. If i had to do it again , would have gone for the koni matched set from the start. For me the plus points were they were none adjustable and gave enough clearance for most speed humps not to be a problem, along with a nice drop without compromising useablility. Better ride quality and better handling.
  14. The missus just said it looked like a badger with lipstick on ????.....
  15. Have to admit I quite like the more racing splitter on the FL , it really suits the shape of the bumper ....it bit more subtle
  16. Will agree , until you have driven a set in cold bad weather , you won't appriciate them. Also due to the fact you only use them for a quarter of the year ( at the most , sometimes ) , they last for years.
  17. I'm surprised no one has tried the GFB DV+ yet. Although a bit expensive , if it does as it should its almost fit and forget.
  18. They are black reflectors not smoked , although i have had a few problems of late with condensation , but curiously only on the passenger side. Have not had the time to really look into it. But it has happened recently , they have been on a while since 2012. Got them on Ebay , but seller is not there anymore ...sorry , but they are so many similar available .....!
  19. As far as know the amp is built into the head unit. I could be wrong.
  20. Well we worked out the the wiring is not too scary , you would effectively need powered usb switched or unswitched for charging and power check out - http://tinyurl.com/nuspo6c Then you need to decide how to get you output signals amplified. The simplist way is to have either a 4 channel or 5 channel amplified ( 5 for a sub woofer ). Then use a 3.5mm jack to rca converter to supply your audio output. Have a look - http://tinyurl.com/ntqyorz The gain controls on the amp should allow you enough control to be able to use the volume on the phone/phablet. Everything else should work as it does on a dash mount phone. The biggest part that would be trouble for me would be fabricating a solid enough dash mount where the head unit would be. so you can clip it in and out easy. The basic install dash board wise would be a standard windscreen mount a usb cigarette lead and a headphone to phono lead to the amplifier. But think that would make the inside of you are look a bit cab like ....sorry ! Or use a bluetooth to rca box , - http://tinyurl.com/ot2awb8 this might be a better solution to reduce your wiring , only issue would be how to power it ( have not looked into this fully , but there have been issues with sound quality using these ) ........hopefully some food for thought. If you do go ahead , would make a good forum project. Good luck , hope this helps a bit.
  21. Thanks , the grills are Milotec as are the inserts. The lower grill and inserts come as kit. The only reason i changed the lower grill is that i did not like the way the orginal lower front end had a combination of vertical vanes and then horizontal vanes on the ends. Looked around to see if anyone did vertical ends to match the rest of the lower grill and the main bonnet grill , but no one does them. In all honesty would have just debaged the original grill and have a complete vertical vane lower grill. to me that would make a nice oem+ mod. As the car is black it's harder to get details like that to work. I have seen silver and blue colour cars with the all black standard grills ( debadged) which standout more and works better imo than on a black car.
