  1. A stock 230 with a remap is a *significant* step up in performance, any additional gains with exhaust / intake / etc would be a minor step up from just a remap.
  2. I have cleared all the codes and the light is still on. Car has done 75k miles without an issue. I could replace it - is a special tool needed?
  3. Hi all - 2014 vRS TSI is showing an engine check light for a week now. Ran an ODB2 scan (Android app and generic bluetooth dongle) and is showing this; P2414 Raw code: 2414 ECU: Engine control unit Status: Confirmed OBDII: Heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) 1, bank 1 - exhaust sample error I've done the usual googling and nothing specific coming up for Octavia. Car appears to be running fine but would like to get it sorted. Any advice? Cheers Paul
  4. Replaced the battery a week ago on my 2014 vRS, first replacement in 75000 miles (using stop start). We came back from holiday after a week and it *only* just started the engine and the stop/start had refuse to work for a while so I knew was on its way out. £98 from Amazon for a 096 Exide AGM battery (delivered next day from Battery Group), 10 minutes to swap, still need to get it coded.
  5. Thx for the replies and the above video, all very helpful. Did the replacement last Thursday... Disconnect battery Undo the 2 airbag clips and remove airbag (after disconnecting) Prise off the surround Disconnect the DSG plugs Remove the controls and take into the house to swap over the AliExpress ones Realise the AliExpress ones DO NOT have the DSG connectors (the solder pads are there but no connectors. Contemplate life decisions. Take stuff apart - find out that the broken clicky bits can seperate from the electronics so use a combination of OE electronics with the shiny new AliExpress clicky bits - yay. Also realise that the broken thumbwheel can be fixed with some superglue for free. Contemplate life decisions again. Keep as spare. Put back together, reconnect battery, go for a drive to clear all the warning lights and delight in turning the volume up and down from the steering wheel once again!
  6. Hi all, have a 2014 vRS with steering wheel controls (scroll wheels) and one of them cracked some time ago so doesn't turn. Picked up replacement ones from AliExpress and wondering if there were any fitting guides? Have seen a few YouTube videos of removing the airbag / steering wheel (which all look a bit vague with people fiddling with a clip) but nothing about then dismantling the wheel to get to the controls. If it's very straightforward then I'll just go for it... TIA
  7. Thorough review (as ever) from Tyre Reviews;
  8. Ah, good to know, cheers. Will try and take mine apart and attempt a repair 😕
  9. Mine well out of warranty. That part number is the replacement button modules I've been looking at, thanks. Was hoping for a cheaper fix 😕
  10. Hi all, the thumbwheel on the volume control cracked a while ago, it's been working ok despite this but recently it jams at some points, guess it's expanded due to the weather. What are my options about fixing / replacing this? I expect I'll have to replace a whole part of the assembly? Take it apart and try and fix? Photo Cheers, Paul
  11. The 'odd' 17" winter is a 225/45 R17 so same width and rolling radius as a 225/40 R18, sure the compound is a little soft but perfectly safe up to illegal speeds.
  12. If you're considering winter wheels and tyres you have spares... In summer I have a 17" winter as a spare, in winter I run my summer 18" as a spare. They both fit fine in the wheel well.
