  1. If your DRLs are flashing when hitting a bump, I'd say you have a loose connection somewhere. They can't flash.

    Apologies for my imprecise English.

I have turned them off so that when the Yeti is subjected to an upward movement caused by the road surface; to a person whose viewpoint is external

to my vehicle and when sitting in a driving position: the effect of aforementioned bump is to create the impression that the deflection of the light beam

is that of a flash or occulation in said beam. The beam in fact is not interrupted, but the impression created is that it was....phew! :whew:

  2. The number of people who wave and cut across me because they think I've "flashed them to go" is driving me up the proverbial wall.

I have turned off my daytime running lights for the same reason when going over a slight bump before a junction.

  3. Good man, do not worry, you are allowed to smile whilst driving for at least three months from when you took delivery. After that, watch out for the men in white coats.

  4. I use a bucket and flexy brush. I cannot state with accuracy how many years that I have used them, it must be over 30 years; I have had no warranty problems whatsoever.

I thought that lances were used by knights in the middle ages and by present day medical staff, I have never found the need of one in cleaning my cars. :giggle:

  5. I will hopefully be taking delivery of my new Yeti in the next week or so and was thinking about getting the sunblinds:

I could save you a heap of money - move to Derbyshire

  6. See you again, when you're bored stiff with the Countryman. :giggle:

I have never been bored stiff with, or indeed by; a countryman. But then I have led a sheltered life thus far.................

  7. That's an offence in itself to my knowledge, the actual incident itself put aside for a moment. "Failing to stop at the scene of an accident" I think?

Take a deep breath, here it comes:

Section 170(2) of the Road Traffic act 1988 provides that the driver of the motor vehicle must stop and, if required to do so by any person having reasonable grounds for so requiring, give his name and address, the name and address of the owner of the vehicle and the identification marks of the vehicle. The duty to stop means to stop sufficiently long enough to exchange the particulars above: Lee v Knapp [1966] 3 All ER 961.

Section 170(3) places an obligation on the driver, if he does not give his name and address under subsection (2) above, to report the accident to a police constable or police station as soon as reasonably practicable and in any case within 24 hours. The duty to report means "as soon as reasonably practicable": Bulman v Bennett [1974] RTR. It does not mean the driver has 24 hours within which to report the collision.

When the evidence reveals a failure to comply with both subsections (2) and (3), proceedings should be brought for both offences. The failure to stop is usually viewed as the more serious of the two.

A person who fails to comply with subsection (2) or (3) above is guilty of an offence punishable with a maximum sentence of six months' imprisonment.

    Phew!

  8. Stowing the rear seat belt clips in the kindly provided "slots" (down Bobdog!) does sort out all sorts of rattles and squeaks from the rear (down again!!)

They were in those slots when I first noticed the rattle, moving them out stopped the noise. When stowed correctly in the 'slots' they did not rattle in my first Yeti - I have given up wondering why as this one should be different - but thanks anyway
  9. Only one issue so far - budgie tweeting sound coming from N/S/R trim somewhere around the door inside. Will I book it in for this? probably not to be honest, I'll have a look myself..

In mine, it was the seatbelt metal clip rubbing on the plastic covering the internal wheel arch. I just led the belt around the headrest - sorted!
  10. Hi folks, long time no speak. Read the forum regularly but don't contribute as I have nothing to say

But that is the main reason that I do contribute! I am past caring about saving my breath for blowing on my porridge and my death bed...........
  11. When I was younger(!) I was involved in road testing of various sizes of tyres on a Rover P6 3.5 V8 and a Triumph 2.5 PI saloon. One of the interesting facts that emerged was that different drivers produced more variation in the elapsed time on the test route than did the profile of the tyres. The difference was more pronounced when the test route was wet. A case perhaps of more bottle than throttle

  12. Didn't that have a Saab engine?

    Fred

I do not think so Fred. It was developed by Triumph (BL) engineers using a single overhead camshaft and enlarged to 1998cc.

The original 1854cc engine was supplied to SAAB for the 99 model.
