  1. I can honestly say i hope you have not bought from ringways, you think skoda are bad but this ford dealer takes the biscuit, so instead

I used archbold workshop morley for ford repairs, cheaper than ringways and benfield and more of a old fashioned family business. I would recomend this garage to anyone.

I dont like ford or i would of bought a car from archbolds

after a five year span covering two fabias I have given up with skoda and bought a new fiesta.

the cars have been great but the dealership has been awful. its been a complete lack of care and poor service from the off.

I find it amazing that one dealership can hold such a monopoly on a brand..theres little choice if you want a skoda and live in west yorkshire..

  2. MY ANSWERS

    Sad tale.

    First thought are that

'you let the RAC man start on your car', you should have said STOP.

WHY SHOULD I STAY STOP, I ONLY KNEW THAT THE DUCK TAPE REPAIR WAS ILLEGAL AFTER THE EVENT

You could have got a Taxi to take you to collect your child as it all became a rush.

NO I COULD NOT, THERE WAS NO TIME TO GET MY VEHICLE TO THE GARAGE AND THEN GET A TAXI TO THE SCHOOL. THE GARAGE IS 9 MILES AWAY ACROSS A CITY

I dont understand your problem with The Recovery Truck being sent,

A 13 TONNE IVECO BEEVERTAIL SLIDEBACK LORRY USED FOR COMMERCIAL VEHICLES WANTING TO USE A SKATE ON MY VEHICLE BECAUSE MY CUL DE SAC IS SMALL ACCESS. ALSO THIS LORRY WOULD OF NOT GOT INTO THE DEALERS CAR PARK. I AM ALSO UNABLE TO CLIMB INTO THE LORRY

or the same RAC person following you stopping the truck taking your car.

IF I COMPLAIN ABOUT A RAC PATROL MAN I WOULD NOT EXPECT INCOMPETANCE FROM RAC TO SEND THE VERY SAME PERSON OUT THE DAY AFTER FOR RECOVERY

What is you being Disabled and a Blue badge holder to do with anything?

Does that mean you Get £54.05 a week DLA Higher Rate Mobility component, which you could have used this once to get a Taxi to collect the child?

NO I DO NOT GET DLA. NOT EVERYONE WITH A BLUE BADGE CLAIMS DLA. YOUR ASSUMING AND BEING A BIGOT

  3. I have just posted this onto the RAC forum, your thoughts

I have a Skoda Fabia and called RAC for assistance as my vehicle was at home and the drivers side seat belt would not pull too due to a fault in the pre tensioners.

The RAC offered a me a recovery which I advised I needed to speak to the Garage/Dealer and also pick my child up from school in 45 minutes. I did not decline recovery just advised I would leave this aspect until the following morning. The RAC then removed all of my door seals and panelling to the door frame and began attempt to do a repair to the Seat Belt. The RAC patrolman pulled the seat belt out two thirds of the way and wrapped duck tape/.cardboard around the belt section near the door pillar so the belt would not retract fully into place. I was left with a seat belt that hung loosly which I was told was safe to use. Basically I would sit in the vehicle and plug the seat belt in without having to pull it too.

I then spoke to Lightcliffe Skoda of Halifax where I was told the seat belt should not of been touched or any attempted repair undertaken for safety reasons.

    Their words were

The pretensioner in the mechanism set u[p has an ignitive device that explodes a piston in the mechanism upwards to tighten the slack in the belt in the event of collision. If one has a collision in most cases the airbags and seat belt pre tensioners are connected to the same ECU, so at the time of impact the pre tensioners go off in the seat belts tightenening you into position. Then when the airbags go off ,they slacken slightly so you can move into the airbag. What the RAC have done is absolutely ridiculous as you could in be as much danger as if you were not wearing a seat belt at all,. If anyone ran into you and set the airbags off you could suffer serious injury as you'd hit them much sooner and harder then if the pretensioners were working properley.

The police advice me that having a defective seat belt is illegal

ROAD TRAFFIC ACT 1998 SECTION 40A

ROAD VEHICLES CONSTRUCTION IN USE REGULATIONS 1986 SECTION 47

SO ........RAC in particular Gareth Rowley of Customer Relations at RAc

How can you state that your patrol man did not do anything untoward. Skoda say the seat belt has a ignitive device and should not be repaired, the Police say having a seat belt that is defective is against the law yet you advice my complaint is not being upheld.

Skoda in Leeds also advice the seat belt was faulty otherwise they would not replaced it under warranty .

You disgust me and even further by advising your decision is final and I have to put up with your decision ,lump it or like it.

I am trying the FSA even though you say they will not get involved. I am also going to the Press. I have already rung certain papers and emailed Watchdog.

On top of all of this, you advised I could be recovered the following day to my garage , despite me being disabled and you allededgly look after blue badge holders according to your website, you sent a 13 tonne lorry from a subcontractor to tow the car,. Why send a commercial recovery vehicle for a car is beyond me , You then sent the same patrolman whom I had complained about the day before to recover the vehicle Hardly professional is it.

You then balls'd up the hire car booking and did not sent it to the correct branch. I got a hire car 8 hours later despite the hire car branch being 500 yards from the Skoda dealer .

I spent in excess of £20 on phone calls off my mobile to your 0800 number due to your failures.

And you want to resolve my complaint with £20 high street vouchers.

    GET REAL.

I am going to publicise the fact that you left my vehicle in a dangerous and illegal condition to drive.

Despite what Skoda and the Police have told me, you demand written evidence when you have been told by Skoda the part is non serviceable.

It appears you cannot speak to the police to check my facts regarding statutory law and the legality of having a defective seat belt.

I feel better for letting that all out now

  4. skoda customer services are incompetant,

my 61 plate fabia has intermittent electric window issues

they fail to go up or down

the diagnostics at DM KEITH say NO error.

Therefore they cannot fix my car, They cannot spend time on looking at my vehicle because without a fault code off their diagnostics machine, Skoda will not pay them to diagnose and try to find the fault under warranty.

Customer services are still months down the line looking for a solution. I get told I will be keep informed, but I do not.

Dealer is not interested, on one visit they insinuated I was telling porky pies. So the next time the fault occured i drove to the dealer left the engine running and made their mechanic view the fault.

    Skoda Customer services are incompentant

and D M KEITH if the computers says ''No'' then it is tuff luck, your car does not get fixed

I want to reject the vehicle so much . but i like the car apart from its naff fuel consumption. My aim is to annoy Skoda and be the customer from hell. Watchdog, Auto express, What car here i come.

  7. http://www.carbodyrepairsbradford.com/

I have used these. They did a full alloy wheel for £30 on my renaullt

They also dents, scratches etc. He is a really friendly top bloke

I have also heard glowing reports on these people. He did a sterling job on my neighbours merc so much that I would probably use him if needed. My neighbours car got trollied at Asda with a deep gauge in the paintwork. He seems more professional than the above person. I mean if he trusted with a £50k merc and five months have passed and its still in tip top shape then this company has my vote,.

    http://www.kiwicolour.co.uk/

Word on warning do not use http://www.invisibletouchuk.co.uk/ They did my last car an 08 plate fiesta's bumper. Cheap and cheerful excpt 6 months later paint flaked off and it became a right mess and they did not want to know. I got it re done by ringways ford for £20 more than I paid these clowns and it was done proper. They said the original repair did not use 2 pac paint or something. I am sure someone maybe able to explain what this is.

  8. Thanks everyone.

My dealer has said he wont replace the control unit, so yet another email has gone to skoda. I have had to collect my car and they will call it back in when skoda have an answer. (if they ever do)

I rung skoda customer services, they are shambolic, i got a snotty female trying to talk over me except it did not work. As i work in a call centre I gave better than I got and it left her flustered. My sarcasm and wit on the phone is legendary. I am normally nice as pie on the phone because I treat people like I how to be treated but today with skoda I thought, well your going to be like that with me so I am now going to be a ''pain in the ass'' customer . And get this I also taped the conversation. During the call, after she became obnoxious I started taping it. I let her waffle on then advised, for quality and training purposes I have to advise that this conversation is now being recorded. It went down a treat with her especially as she realised she had spoke to me like a piece of s***

Skoda more of less said if we cannot find the root cause of the fault then there is little they can do. This really wound me up. It is their job to find a solution, that is why we buy cars from them for heavens sake. I am going to annoy them on a daily basis, and also cause trouble with the finance company seeing technically speaking they are the legal owner of the vehicle.

I am on holiday from work for a week now, so plenty of time to be the customer from hell.

As well as the issue solved I expect recompense for countless fruitless trips to a dealer and my time. An email is also be drafting to watchdog.

  9. the boss only lives a few miles from me and as it is his personal car he will probably come and collect it using his spare key, i dont think threatening would do any good. they have been aimyable with me.

The only thing that ****es me off is i got told make sure i put fuel in it as its the bosses personal car, sometimes courtesy cars have fuel left in them. This is fair and all and well but their senior mechanic is taking my car home with him, he lives 30 mins away from the dealer. Whose paying MY petrol (diesel) then ????

Should I flippantly ask tomorrow morning if my car is significantly down on fuel?? It went in with a full tank.

I am also worried about fuel consumption. on a long run i get mid 50;s. around town I get 45 mpg

with 4,500 miles on the clock it seems crap

  10. My first Skoda, delivered Oct 2011

    Problem

Any of the windows randomly will refuse to go or down, this happens intermittently, perhaps once every few weeks. The car has 4,500 miles on it now so it is pretty well used.

ALWAYS happens straight after unlocking the vehicle. Sometimes one window will refuse to go down. Othertimes were I have held my finger on the fob for too long and all 4 windows have gone down, one of them will NOT go back up.

How I remedy this is to turn off engine, hold unlock/lock button down and it resets it self. However if it is raining outside or snow is on car and all 4 windows go down due me holding the button down too long, the window which refuses to go back up ends up with a pi** wet through seat inner door,

Sometimes having unlocked the car one window will refuse to go down.

The car has been in 4 times to the workshop, for this window fault and they scratch their head, I mess with loan cars and a 20 mile round trip for no reason,

Last week a window would not go down yet again so I drove straight to the dealer, where they acknowledged that I was not making up fairy tales as they saw the actual fault for themselves, i left the engine running and asked for a mechanic to see for himself what was happening. He said we will replace the control unit this week.

Car is now in the garage, theyre not replacing the control unit as theyre not confident this will solve the issue, another 2 days messing about with loan cars etc. They await a 2nd email from Skoda. They emailed them two months ago and they had no clue what to do, or suggest to the dealer....apprentley.... Oh and I got to the garage, no loan car as reqested so I am in one of their managers company car as we speak.

Also the car has been in the garage for other work under warranty

All front and rear lights, except rear fog lights going out. Fuse 23 blown,. Rac roadside repair. Tookj to dealer the following day with RAc report. Dealer could not find any fault !!!!!

Key fob not unlocking car. Diodes replaced at request of skoda

Paint peeling off offside front wheel arch. (On a scout the black bumper surround on the wheel arch). re painted/replaced under warranty

    ---------------

My car is in the garage as we speak, their manager does not know the way for forward to resolve this issue as the diagnostics bring up a blank

Any advise?? what would you do. ??? I am ringing Skoda tomorrow to complain.

The dealers are being friendly and put them selves out with loan cars etc, so no complaints there but I feel like I am living at DmKeith Skoda in Leeds, I am sick of the hassle going there collecting loan cars. I have had a fabia monte, an htp estate fabia, roomster, and an octavia as a loan car. At this rate I will of driven every ruddy Skoda there is in the line up. The added time and fuel involved I could do with out.

Unfortunately their computer says Nooooo !!!

    Any ideas?

  11. My only experience of this dealer is with the sales people. and the person i spoke to needs sacking

I rung them in August 2011, I said i was interested in a Skoda fabia diesel scout and i would like to test drive one.

I got told there are none to test drive but its basically the same car as an ordinary fabia estate, i replied yes but handing over any money for a car i have yet to see is a little silly. I got told but there is one on the skoda system with £600 of extra equipment that is available to reserve, but i said i do not want that colour or that equipment. Ok i dont expect to test drive the same colour but the same type of car would be nice, whether petrol or diesel i wanted to look at a fabia scout.

I got told they are so rare there is no chance of finding one locally, conversation ended oh well then i will leave it.

Anyway, what did i do next............ I spoke to Dmkeith Leeds, spoke to Joanna, oh yes she says we have a diesel scout fabia on our courtesy car fleet. To cut a long story short, she got the loan car back to the dealer quickly and got it washed etc and let me take it for a spin all under 24 hours.

Yes i ordered a car from Joanna at leeds.

Feedback....... Bradford dmkeith get your act together, these cars are so apparently rare that you did not know one was sitting 10 miles down the road in one of your other branches in the courtesy car fleet. Ok you may not know everything but one would presume a small group of dealers such as yourself would pull resources.

  12. All the staff helpful and i cannot fault their customer experience apart from one comment from someone on the service desk whom made me feel i was telling porky pies and the electrical fault did not perhaps exist.

Very quick at sorting out a courtesy car, super except when driving it the brakes grinded like hell and it appeared it was 5,000 miles over its service. i even checked in its service book, no stamp. i did mentioned this to the service desk to someone other than the previously mentioned employee and they joked,'' thats the bodyshop for you''. (I had been given their loan car you see). Yes it will be really funny when the car either breaks down or the brakes fail

Most non skoda dealers tend you give the basic models, so in this respect this dealer really looks after their clients with models of all shapes and sizes on their courtesy car fleet. They also provide a loan car very quickly which is super.

Compared to the likes of the big boys that sell all makes franchises, dm keith provide a much more customer service experience, like the good ole days and is a breath of fresh air. I have found all of their staff to be approachable and helpful. I would be confident if i needed advice i could pop in and a technician/employee would take a quick look. Try this at one of the big chains and you need a weeks notice to book it in.

Someone on here moaned about their sales dept. 4 years ago i went in to enquire about a used fabia and saw a middle aged balding guy. I am still waiting for him to come back to me.

This time around I thought i would give them another try. I rung them up and it was someone called Joanna in sales, I thought oh no, yes this sounds exist, but i thought i am going to get a similar female sales person to that of someone from a dealer in Huddersfield (unable to name but which is one of the bid national companies) i.e. someone whom looks pretty but absolutely knows nothing about what she is selling. Men you see sometimes see it as men know more about cars.

Well i hold my hands up, shoot me all you females out there, Joanna knows everything about the cars, she even compared the car i wanted to that of my current car citing bhp comparisons, equipment etc and which engine she would go for. She even went to the trouble of getting me a few cars to test drive having to move half of the forecourt but nothing was too much trouble. I was astounded, i thought blooming heck proper customer service in 2011.(its a hard thing to find lol)

she absolutely went out her way to help and with her aftersales she kept me informed all the way with delivery info , even telling me which ship the car is on and advising where you can track your car online going from port into grimsby. And i am on my 14th car, fourth new and out of every salesperson, male and female, Joanna is the best i have ever come across so that dispells my sexist theory. lol.

The question is , would i use another dealer, at the moment certainly not. Once you have experienced the national big dealers that stock every make and model, ones were you can not speak to a mechanic, ones were you need a weeks notice for a loan car, and a week to book the car in, ones were you get put through to a national call centre to book your car in for a service...... and then you come to dm keith it is like stepping into another world.

Keep up with the old fashioned values dm keith. It was a toss up between a local seat dealer, for a seat ibiza estate or a fabia estate. Joanna and your set up at dmkeith won the decision for me. (though beating my local seat was not really that hard, they were dire). And as for the bald headed salesperson from 4 years previous, well lets forget that

I forgot to add. Dmkeith always wash my car when i pick it up. A nice personal touch that is really appreciated and makes me feel like a valued customer.

  13. AND THIS OUTFIT USES SMALL GARAGES THAT DO NOT USUALLY HAVE DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENT, SO IT IS A GLORIFIED RECOVERY SERVICE

AA , RAC AND THE NEW GREEN FLAG ANT VANS WHICH CAME OUT IN JANURARY, HAVE DIAGNOSTICS

CALL ASSIST, BRITTANIA,MONDIAL, GEM, AUTO NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL BREAKDOWN USE BACK STREET GARAGES WHOM WILL NO DOUBT TURN UP IN A BATTERED SPEC LIFT LORRY AND ONLY ARMED WITH A FEW SPANNERS.

  14. I would leave the green insurance company well alone and not touch them with a bargepole

Their breakdown cover is provided by CALL ASSIST Ltd

I work for one of the 3 largest Breakdown companys in the UK. I also once had a policy with call assist. They frequently ask following recovery of a vehicle for proof that the vehicle has been repaired. They ask for proof in way of a garage invoice/reciept and if you fail to supply as such they charge you for the recovery of your vehicle. If you do your own repairs your well and truly stuffed

As per their terms and conditions the following ring alarm bells., THIS IS FOR THE LEVEL 1 COVER

THE CHOICE OF A SUITABLE REPAIRER WILL BE AT OUR DISCRETION. (IF YOU HAVE A 20 MILE TOW BECAUSE THEY CANNOT FIX IT AT THE ROADSIDE SURELY IT UPTO YOU WERE YOU TAKE IT PROVIDING IT IS IN THE 20 MILES)

Vehicles broken down WITHOUT Homecall ON THEIR POLICY, the AA, Rac and Green flag state vehicles within a quarter of a mile constitute a homecall. WITH CALL ASSIST IT IS A MILE. SO IF YOU BREAK DOWN IN THE TOWN CENTRE ,ARE YOU OR ARE YOU NOT A OVER A MILE AWAY, BECAUSE IF YOUR THREE QUARTERS OF A MILE FROM HOME YOU ARE NOT COVERED BECAUSE IT IS TECHNICALLY A HOME CALL

TOLL CHARGES, rac, GREENFLAG AND AA COVER THESE IF YOUR CAR IS ON A LORRY, TOLL CHARGES FOR HGV LORRYS ARE MORE EXPENSIVE THEN CARS. EXAMPLE HUMBER BRIDGE, WALLASEY TUNNEL

DOES NOT COVER THE USE OF SPECIALIST EQUIPMENT, some policies elsewhere do some dont

SO FOR EXAMPLE YOU LOST YOU CAR KEYS, AND YOU HAVE AN AUTO ELECTRONIC GEARBOX STUCK ON, CAR IS LOCKED AND NEEDS TOWING, YOUR CAR WILL LIKELY NEED 2 OR 4 SKATES AT £23 EACH AND 30 MINUTES WINCHING £40.

OTHER EXAMPLES, USE OF SPECIALIST EQUIPMENT USED FOR WHERE WHEELS FALLEN OFF, ROAD TRAFFIC ACCIDENTS, OR VEHICLES SITUATED IN PLACES SUCH AS AGAINST A WALL OR WHAT ABOUT YOUR STUCK IN MUD, SNOW OR SAND AND NEED PULLING OUT

MORE THAN 6 CALLOUTS A YEAR. OTHERS DO NOT ABIDE BY THIS.

ALSO CALL ASSIST WILL NOT TOW YOUR CAR HOME THEN ONTO A GARAGE THE NEXT WORKING DAY. EXAMPLE,. I BREAKD DOWN 10PM AT NIGHT HEAD GASKET OR ALTERNATOR ISSUE, I GET TOWED HOME. THE NEXT DAY I WILL RING AROUND FOR A GARAGE TO BOOK CAR IN. SO I NEED A 2ND TOW TO A LOCAL GARAGE. CALL ASSIST WILL TELL YOU TO DO ONE. AA, RAC AND GREEN FLAG WILL RE ATTEND. WHOM WANTS TO LEAVE THEIR CAR OUTSIDE A GARAGE AT 10PM ON THE OFFCHANCE THEY WILL FIX IT, AND HOW DO YOU GET HOME

IF YOU CALL THEM OUT FOR A PUNCTURE AND IT TURNS OUT YOU DO NOT HAVE A SPARE WHEEL OR AEROSOL, OR YOUR LOCKING WHEEL NUT KEY FOR ALLOYS , THEY WILL CHARGE YOU... Like i say i work for one of the big 3 and a lot of wheel change incidents turn out to be recoveries due to no locking wheel nut key, or the wrong one or the spare being bald/unusuable. In this case call assist will charge you for a recovery. rac, aa and greenflag would not

AND THE BEST ONE, NO COVER IF YOUR VEHICLE IS INSECURE. ok during the day my company would say if your windows stuck down and if safe to do so, then drive to a garage. But weekends and during the night, all of the big 3 would attend for an insecure vehicle

OH AND ANOTHER, IF YOU HAVE A ROAD ACCIDENT YOU MUST TELL THEM THE NAME OF YOUR INSURER. YES IT SAYS MUST !!!! IN ANOTHER WORDS THEY WILL BILL THEM. WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO INVOLVE YOUR INSURER

AT THE TIME OF THE CLAIM, I.E. BREAKDOWN IT SAYS YOU MUST, YES MUST ! SHOW PROOF OF PROPER SERVICING OF YOUR VEHICLE. I DO NOT KNOW ABOUT YOU BUT I DO NOT KEEP THIS IN MY CAR

  15. I have a 61 plate fabia scout in white

In the 4 months i haev had it the following has happened

1/. key fob stopped working, diodes replaced by dealer

2/. day after receiving car back from diodes the front and rear lights stopped working, rac came to me and replaced a blown fuse

3./ dealer next day could not understand why fuse had blown , couldnt find an error on diagnostics

4/. during the night on 2 occasions, all 4 windows have gone down ont their own accord whilst i am tucked away in bed, this then sets the alarm off

5/. back to dealer in for 3 days cannot find fault, looking at me puddled like i am making it up. theyve reffered it to skoda and aware awaiting an answer, i now have my car back and worried it will do the same again except next time the car might get stolen or contents swiped

Any ideas..... and they say skoda are reliable

Oh last loan car, was a 10 plate 1.2 htp fabia estate , brakes grinding, and 5000 miles over due its service and very noisy underneath. i commented on the loan car being knackered, i got told oh thats the bodyshop for you. ( i got given their accident repair centre loan car) , so i also looked like someone whom had the misfortune to have an accident when i had the loan car as it was spattered all down the side ''accident repair centre''

I feel like banging my head against a brick wall
