  1. Hi

A friend has asked me if anyone has VCDS and can do a scan on his Mk 2 Octavia. He is in Harrow (London) is there anyone nearby that can help. I have looked on the VCDS thread on here but can't see anyone that close.

    Cheers

  2. Friend of mine Octavia Saloon rear window has dropped and he has taken the door card off to get access and have a look at what caused it.

He wants to know if drilling the rivets from the inner metal plate, is the only way to get it off to gain access to the window mechanism.

Also any advice on the issue would be greatly appreciated.

  3. A friend of mine has just bought a 2007 Octavia 140pd and it has been scanned with VCDS with the following errors. I have looked on the Rosstech Wiki and have a general idea of the faults, but thought I would post here in case any of them are common fixes. I have just pasted the relevant info of the scan.

    Thanks in advance

  4. Hi

I dont know if it will work without maxidot. If you currently have a hands free bluetooth system that works without the maxidot, my guess is this would work but I could not guarantee it. As for the streaming it worked fine streaming music from my iphone 5s so I would guess it would do the 6, but I have not tried that.

My 2009 Octy vRS had maxidot and a columbus, so I am not best placed to guarantee it would work on your setup.

  5. VW 3C8 035 730 D Bluetooth - Wifi module.

I believe this is top of the line, it acts like a router in the car for the passengers. Will read your texts out plus all the usual hands free stuff.

I installed this on my 2009 Mk2 Octy vRS and it worked plug and play, although an error did show on VCDS it worked without a problem, so I guess it may need coding in order to stop the error.

Selling as now sold the car and put the old standard module back in.

    £120 delivered.

  6. Well I thought before splashing on a Battery, I would try to start it on a Jump Pack.

After a few cranks it started, ran rough for a few seconds so I revved it up a bit and it started ticking over normally.

Switched it off and removed jump pack and it started again without a problem.

I now have the battery on charge as a temporary measure, but will definately replace it if the problem is solved.

Thanks for the help, I would never have thought a dieing battery could cause the car to stall like that. You live and learn.

    Thanks again

  7. This morning I drove my vRS out of the garage about 10 metres and parked it at the end of the drive, while I spent an hour cleaning out the garage.

I then started the car again and proceeded to reverse back into the garage. About halfway the car gave a cough and a splutter and stalled.

I tried to restart but it wont have it, it just coughs and splutters without even trying to catch.

I noticed when I try to start it that the DPF light comes on but goes out after a second or so, this might be normal but dont recall ever noticing it before.

I did a VCDS scan with only one fault and I dont think its related but I will post the result anyway ( Car has sat in garage for 2 weeks unused so battery may be low as had this happen before ).

So with no VCDS codes to go by I am a little stumped as where to start, so any help would be really appreciated. Car has DSG if it makes a difference?

    Thanks

  8. Cheers for the reply. Had a look at the Ross tech Wiki and will check the Vacuum pipes first off.

Whereabouts are the vacuum pipes located (general area) as not so knowledgable about turbo cars. Will there be any noticible leak (oil or crap near holes) or is it just a case of being lucky to find a hole if there is one.

    Thanks again

  10. I have been told I need to replace this part on my 2009 Octavia vRS CR TDI ( 03G 131 547 C ).

I have ordered the part this morning but I am wondering if anyone has access to the diagrams for my car on EKTA, and if they could post or PM me the exploded diagram image so I know exactly where it fits on my car.

    Cheers

  11. Thanks again for the help. I just went out to have a quick look at the car and noticed oily greasy gunk on a pipe at the front of the engine. I have attached a picture but it is hard to see.

It's the pipe that runs down next to the dipstick.

Does anyone know what this pipe is for and could it be related or is this another issue I have found. It's the pipe to left of the dipstick with the white markings and metal clip on it

    Cheers

  12. Also don't know if it's related but car was serviced last month and they mentioned a gasket on the EGR was slightly leaking and said I should replace it. The part number is 03G 131 547 C.

Could this gasket cause the issues and code I described.

    Cheers

  13. I have a 2009 Octavia vRS CR TDI.

Yesterday while on the M25 the car flashed up 'Engine Fault Go To Workshop' the orange spring light on dash was constantly flashing and car was immediately down on power, I think the Turbo isn't kicking in so sluggish to drive.

Got to services ok and got a bite to eat and when I started the car fault was gone, car drove ok but 10 minutes later it happened again. This morning fault has gone and not returned, so drive it mildly to my mates who has a scanner ( not VCDS ) and the fault code P0299 is registered in the memory.

Any ideas on where to start to solve this would be great.

    Cheers

  14. Friend of mine has just bought a standard 2006 1.9tdi and wants to lower it a little.

Browsing through here the most common option is an Eibach Pro kit. So if this was fitted would it need steering re-alignment and can he use the standard shocks. He is looking to lower between 30-40mm.

    Any advice appreciated.
