  1. Hello,

So driving to work this morning, about 20 miles into my journey the engine appeared to disengage. It started to lose drive as I trundled up a slope on the M5 with my hazards on, revs went up due to my foot poised on the accelerator so I glided to a stop on the hard shoulder, leaving the engine running and in neutral. The five gear position symbols (P,R,N,D,S) on the dash were flashing but no "limp" mode or other warnings. Putting it back into D for drive, the car moved but wouldn't come out of first gear so I carried on trundling to the emergency phone, stopped there and switched off the engine. I waited 5 minutes, switched it on again and all seemed fine. I decided not to risk being stranded at work at the end of day and drove it home. It's in a garage ATM but wondered if there were any thoughts from the group? I have been thinking it's a while since I changed the dsg oil though..

  2. Hiya!  Just moved to Bristol but moving to Weston on the 28th of August.

I own an automatic DSG Octavia II VRs '09 hatch(?) with peely paint and dodgy lights! (the rear ones keep burning out).

Anyhoo. Hiya (again. I registered a while back but have not been too active a member but as my car is close to 100000 miles, I'll probably be needing you all a lot more soon)...

    Cheers,

    Al.

  3. Hello,

I am now the proud owner of a 2 and a half year old Octavia Vrs Diesel and need advice so I thought I'd join up! I bought it because I saw a Skoda Fabia Vrs dissapear like magic before my very eyes at a set of lights once.

Particularly just now at this moment now here where we are is that I want to buy front and rear mud flaps to stop unneccesary chips but the dealer I bought the car from reckons that Skoda don't do Skoda flaps! Where can I get a decent pair of pair of flaps? How easy to fit for a non-mechanic type like me? These questions and more can only be answered by you and you alone.

Also, should I chip the beast to make it go even scarier faster...?

    Al.
