  1. Thanks for the advice. I'll get a lock actuator ordered & try & fit it when i get a dry day. Any good online suppliers? For the mk5 golf they seemed to be cheaper & more available I think the part number is 5J0839015 for the passenger rear on my 2010 fabia (built 03-2010) with central locking) . Could someone confirm please? I normally use 7zap for the online parts diagrams but it seems you have to pay to subscribe now? Cheers again
  2. I've noticed on my 2010 fabia 1.4 tdi that sometimes when I lock the car with the remote fob, the indicators don't flash, & I sometimes hear a strange noise from the rear passenger door lock area (difficult to describe, like a Slight clunking/springy noise as though the lock actuator is struggling) I checked all doors while locking & unlocking with the fob & couldn't open the rear passenger door. After a few presses & cycling the remote button & hitting the outer door skin below the handle with my fist it eventually unlocked. Also in the past few weeks I've had the odd false alarm going off. Would this point to a faulty rear door lock actuator? Are they easy to change? I've done a few mk5 golfs but haven't done a fabia one before Also if it does fail in the locked position how can one open the door to change it? Cheers for any help
  3. Got a 2010 Skoda fabia 1.4 tdi. Electric front window, manual rear) Today while driving home after having my mot, I just pulled into a shop carpark & the passenger side electric window wound down & dropped all the way down without my pressing the button. I parked up & the button on the drivers side door card wouldn't work the passenger window at all. Reached over & used the passenger side button & that just worked as bit intermittent Switched ignition off then on & the passenger door card button worked for me to get the glass up. Driving on the way home it seemed intermittent & a press of the button on the drivers side door card sometimes operated the glass & other times seems to have a delayed action (could hear the motor randomly acting a few seconds later) Any pointers to look at? Was thinking it could be the drivers side window switch (cheapest option to change) or perhaps a broken or intermittent wire break in the bellows between a pillar & door? (Does this affect skodas like it does the mk5 golf?) I haven't scanned it yet. Not sure if vcds would show the problem? Thanks! Mike
  4. Thanks for the replies Ill get my mechanic to put it up on a ramp to investigate the EGR & manifold etc Theres no apparent exhaust leak sounds that I can hear in the engine bay & no obvious splits in hoses etc I was just checking with the dipstick as I wasnt sure if I saw an O ring on the handle, but it does seem to seal snugly & isnt loose
  5. Got a 2010 Skoda fabia 1.4 tdi. I've noticed the past couple of days after starting the car there's a faint smell of exhaust fumes. The exhaust seems to be ok & not blowing. The car passed an mot last Thursday. I know I need to change the pollen filter but I don't think that would prevent the fumes? Is there anything else I can check? Any particular weak spots? car seems to drive as normal with no apparent noises I know before the mot I checked the oil. Is there supposed to be an O ring on the orange handle of the dipstick to seal inside the guide tube? There doesn't seem to be fumes eminating from here, but I'm just trying to rule it out Thanks!
  6. Thats great, thanks. Ill email fizzmo to see if they'll send me some resistors Ive refitted the standard festoon filament bulbs this evening & theyre working fine, so hopefully the resistors combined with the leds will do the job
  7. Cheers. I havent had time to have a good look at it & didnt want to try stripping off the rear trim panel or the rear trunking from hatch to body to have a look at the wiring Ill re-fit the standard bulbs this evening to see if theyre both ok
  8. Ive had some issus with my led number plate bulbs Fitted some error free canbus c5w bulbs a while back & theyve been ok up until last week (theyre the type with a heatsink at the back) Noticed the rear left was off so emailed the ebay seller I got them from & they sent me out a new one (has a 3 year guarantee) Replaced the left one & a couple of days later the right side was off, so replaced that with a spare led bulb I had. Worked fine for a few hours but noticed this morning that its gone off again I briefly put in an old filament bulb I had as a spare & that lights up ok, so I dont think its a loose or dirty connection issue Any ideas if its a case of having cheap leds or could it be a intermittent connection (possibly chaffed wiring into tailgate?) Cars a 2010 tdi & doesnt have the bulb warning on the dash if it makes any difference)
  9. Sorry should have been clearer - I purchased the HID kit from a company called AE trading/ London colour Yes the glass is at the bottom & driving this morning I couldnt really see a shadow so Ill leave it be Ive got another issue now as my drivers side wiper has stopped working as the linkage has popped off so Ill try to fix that as a priority! Cheers
  10. Fitted the London colour kit this afternoon. One thing Im wondering about is that the HID bulbs had a base with a tooth like tab just like the H7's that were removed. They can only be fitted one way into the headlight unit. (tab at the bottom & the wire on the HID bulb is at the top Also the HID bulbs will only fit the one way into the standard silver headlight clips (theres a small tab that rests against the tab on the bulb) so when Ive installed them into the headlights the return wire on the bulb is at the top I havent noticed any undue shadows on the road on the brief drive home this evening but the other guides state that the return wire needs to be at the bottom How do I go about this? Was thinking the easiest way is to perhaps cut or bend back the small tab on the silver headlight clip??
  11. Ok cheers Ill have another search. Was just wondering which kit to get as in the Octavia forums its been mentioned that the canbus kits can cause problems & its best to get the non-canbus kits & change some codes with VCDS Would the non-canbus kit be ok for my Fabia as I dont have the bulb error function on the dash
  12. Ive been thinking of fitting a HID kit to my fabia. Ive done a search & read some how to's etc & I just want to confirm Im buying the correct kit. I emailed aet online (aka london colour whos kits ive heard are good quality & have a 2 year guarantee) & they recommended this kit: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CANBUS-XENON-HID-ERROR-FREE-35W-CONVERSION-KIT-H1-H3-H7-H8-H9-H11-HB3-HB4-/370440024720? Is this the one to get? I realise some of the how to's were made in 2010 & the kits have been developed since then They said I need the canbus version above, & not this version which had been mentioned in one of the guides I saw; http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Xenon-HID-conversion-H7-KIT-FOR-VW-PASSAT-04-09-NEW-/230373448204?hash=item35a353da0c:m:mYBDy9c_kQ-TdbBSEpL02ew Is it best to just modify the original bulb holder clips (Ive heard that the aftermarket cut-out ones are poor quality & dont fit properly) & any pics of your final installations would be appreciated as some of the guides have the photos missing because of the photobucket links have been lost) Cheers for any help & advice
  13. Hi

Ive been reading the HID fitting guide that you posted up. Sadly I cant see the photobucket photos. Would you have an alternative link to the images please?

Im planning on fitting HID's to my Fabia soon & Im sure the guide will be a great help

    Cheers

    Mike
