Interior light & door open dash icon coming on
Thanks for the reply. I'll check the loom when the outside temperate gets a bit warmer as it seems a likely candidate If there are broken wires is it better to get one of the connector & loom repair kits off eBay & solder to the original giving a bit of additional length of loom at the hinge area, rather than just resolder the broken original wiring (where the join will still be at the problem area of stress) Is there room to just solder in place between pillar & door, or is it best to remove the interior panel & pull the loom & connector through? Thanks for advice!

Interior light & door open dash icon coming on
Got a 2010 fabia 1.4 tdi. Today while driving the interior light came on & the red door open symbol lit up on the dash, along with the door open alarm. It was a bit intermittent at first but on the way home it was on continuously I couldn't set the alarm when i parked up as it set it off a few seconds after arming it. For now I've manually locked it by putting the key in the door lock. In the summer I noticed that the rear passenger side door lock sounded a bit clunky & sometimes couldn't be opened using the door handle from outside & I had to operate the inside handle My question is could this be the problem & I need to replace the rear door lock unit, or is it the drivers door lock module that sends the signal to the alarm horn/dash light & interior light? Would it be better to scan using vcds to pinpoint the problem lock or would it not say? Is there an online guide to help? I've replaced mk5 golf lock units before as they're known to be problematic but haven't done a fabia one before

Rear passenger door lock intermittent
Thanks for the advice. I'll get a lock actuator ordered & try & fit it when i get a dry day. Any good online suppliers? For the mk5 golf they seemed to be cheaper & more available I think the part number is 5J0839015 for the passenger rear on my 2010 fabia (built 03-2010) with central locking) . Could someone confirm please? I normally use 7zap for the online parts diagrams but it seems you have to pay to subscribe now? Cheers again

Rear passenger door lock intermittent
I've noticed on my 2010 fabia 1.4 tdi that sometimes when I lock the car with the remote fob, the indicators don't flash, & I sometimes hear a strange noise from the rear passenger door lock area (difficult to describe, like a Slight clunking/springy noise as though the lock actuator is struggling) I checked all doors while locking & unlocking with the fob & couldn't open the rear passenger door. After a few presses & cycling the remote button & hitting the outer door skin below the handle with my fist it eventually unlocked. Also in the past few weeks I've had the odd false alarm going off. Would this point to a faulty rear door lock actuator? Are they easy to change? I've done a few mk5 golfs but haven't done a fabia one before Also if it does fail in the locked position how can one open the door to change it? Cheers for any help

Passenger side electric window- switch or wiring issue?
Got a 2010 Skoda fabia 1.4 tdi. Electric front window, manual rear) Today while driving home after having my mot, I just pulled into a shop carpark & the passenger side electric window wound down & dropped all the way down without my pressing the button. I parked up & the button on the drivers side door card wouldn't work the passenger window at all. Reached over & used the passenger side button & that just worked as bit intermittent Switched ignition off then on & the passenger door card button worked for me to get the glass up. Driving on the way home it seemed intermittent & a press of the button on the drivers side door card sometimes operated the glass & other times seems to have a delayed action (could hear the motor randomly acting a few seconds later) Any pointers to look at? Was thinking it could be the drivers side window switch (cheapest option to change) or perhaps a broken or intermittent wire break in the bellows between a pillar & door? (Does this affect skodas like it does the mk5 golf?) I haven't scanned it yet. Not sure if vcds would show the problem? Thanks! Mike

Fabia 1.4 tdi exhaust fumes in car when stationary
Thanks for the replies Ill get my mechanic to put it up on a ramp to investigate the EGR & manifold etc Theres no apparent exhaust leak sounds that I can hear in the engine bay & no obvious splits in hoses etc I was just checking with the dipstick as I wasnt sure if I saw an O ring on the handle, but it does seem to seal snugly & isnt loose

Fabia 1.4 tdi exhaust fumes in car when stationary
Got a 2010 Skoda fabia 1.4 tdi. I've noticed the past couple of days after starting the car there's a faint smell of exhaust fumes. The exhaust seems to be ok & not blowing. The car passed an mot last Thursday. I know I need to change the pollen filter but I don't think that would prevent the fumes? Is there anything else I can check? Any particular weak spots? car seems to drive as normal with no apparent noises I know before the mot I checked the oil. Is there supposed to be an O ring on the orange handle of the dipstick to seal inside the guide tube? There doesn't seem to be fumes eminating from here, but I'm just trying to rule it out Thanks!
