  1. Hello guys, I was wondering if anyone could help me with an issue I have with my Fabia MK2 VRS (CTHE) . The car recently started making a rattling noise and it turned out to be a bad water pump, so I got this replaced by someone on a forum who said they've done these before, and they replaced this for me. I also had the thermostat replaced at the same time, as the temp gauge needle was acting strange. Oh the journey home after having the pump replaced the car drove fine but without boost. The supercharger seemed to work fine. The coolant hose had popped off the thermostat as it hadn't been clamped on properly, but it has now been secured. The car has a blow off valve which would normally make a loud hissing sound (normal) after releasing the gas pedal but now it makes a slight hiss when pushing down on the accelerator pedal and makes less of a hiss when releasing the accelerator pedal. Long story short, the car is now making a hissing noise and a whiney noise with vibration through the engine bay when accelerating, and there doesn't seem to be any boost. It also judders slightly when moving off. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks
  2. Hello, I was wondering if anyone knows the sizes of the worm clamps that secure the coolant hose pipes to the thermostat please? There are 4 hoses that connect to the thermostat. I believe there are 2 different sizes of hose pipes. Thanks
  3. I'll give that a try in the morning and see if I can narrow down where it's coming from. Hopefully it's not something major. Thanks for the tip.
  4. Thanks for the info, I'll have a look at it. There's no loss of coolant and no lights on the dash, but it's still early yet as the noise just started around a week ago, so a warning light might pop up soon.
  5. Thanks for the advice. I'll look into that, not sure if It has. It only started around a week ago and the noise has gotten slightly louder, but nothing that'd get you worried.
  6. @Erreesse It's done 90k miles. I bought the car over 3 years ago and it didn't have much service history. I'm not sure if the water pump or timing chain has been replaced previously.
  7. Hello guys, I have a strange noise coming from the engine bay that started a few days ago, seems to be coming from the rear left of the engine bay. I was wondering if anyone knows what it could be? Someone said that it's the water pump failing. It's more noticeable when I very slightly rev the engine (see video). It's a CTHE engine and it doesn't have any oil / coolant loss. There are no warning lights on the dash and it drives normally. Thanks
  8. I've had a good look at the Chinese ones on Ebay and I've found a few that have wireless Carplay but none of them have wireless Android Auto. I think I'll just keep my current unit as it has the wired Android Auto function already. You can buy dongle separately to turn it into a wireless Android Auto device but then I'd have to have a big ugly dongle sticking out from the USB port of the stereo. Thanks for your help
  9. First I've heard of them mate, I'll have a look at them. I currently have Android Auto on my stereo unit, but it's a wired one. I wanted a wireless one where you don't have to use a USB dongle to connect it to your phone for the wireless function. I might just keep this, as the ones with the built-in wireless function are hard to find.
  10. @DanielFenech Great, thank you. I will check it out.
  11. Hello guys, Does anyone know of a stereo unit that has a built-in wireless Android Auto / carplay functionality? I don't fancy having to connect a wireless dongle to connect my phone wirelessly. I need something that'll be a straight swap. Fabia MK2 (2014) Thanks
  12. Thanks mate, what did they charge you when you had it done?
  13. Yes, that was the one. I have a lot to learn about mechatronics.
  14. Ah right, there must be different ways of repairing them then. There are some videos on YouTube that show them doing it without removing the unit from the car.
  15. Why are they charging so much. Isn't it like 2-3 hours labour and around £200 for the parts.
