  1. I agree with all these points.
  2. I've just had a second reminder about the "emissions service action" in the post in an envelope labelled Driver & Vehicle Standards Agency - Final Reminder. I shall not be having the update done. 2012 2l 110 HP Yeti S. Only 5,000 miles from new - all long fast journeys. Norry
  3. It could be the connection between the battery and the starter - check the terminals on the heavy battery cables (both the earth -ve and the +ve) and on the starter (but that will be difficult to reach) or it could be the starter motor itself that is faulty. It could be the ignition switch but not if you are sometimes getting a click from another relay or the starter solenoid. Is the battery fully charged? If it isn't that could cause the problem but it is starting eventually so maybe not. Norry
  4. It is in a pretty stupid location which is going to get a lot of wet in its interior. Norry
  5. I marked mine with a blob of white paint so they are visible. Norry
  6. It's not even pointing forwards!
  7. I don't use it often at all but it sounds so cheap, just a "beep" and not very loud. I cannot believe that other motorists would take any notice of it! Norry
  8. I hate the sound of the horn on my S Yeti. I'd really like a nice pair of Windtones (or the modern equivalent). Has anyone upgraded their Yeti horn to a decent sound? How difficult is it to get at the horn and its wiring? Thanks, Norry.
  9. I had 3 between 1960 and 1970, 2 in company cars - not had one since. I have been stopped for speeding 4 times before 1990 and let off with a warning (twice by radar and once by following police car and once when I overtook a police car!) And once in about 1973 went to court and found not proved. Norry
  10. I don't think that is a logical conclusion to draw!! Norry
  11. That is probably just a kid-on to make it seem like a worthwhile job!! Nothing just involving software on a car could take that long. Norry
  12. Exactly!! They have not been able fixed the emissions with this software or they would have done it the first time round. The whole business is rubbish! Norry
  13. I would not mind but the whole fiasco is crazy. Our cars have a piece of software that detects when they are being tested for emissions for type approval, so what the dickens has that got to do with normal every day use? The whole thing is ridiculous! I certainly will not allow them to mess with my car. Norry
  14. With those 18" wheels you won't be bored - vibrated but not bored!!!
  15. The problem is that the Yeti handbrake is not very efficient. Handbrakes that work on the discs are not as good as those that work on drums. The handbrakes on my Fabia and Jaguar are far better than the Yeti. On a gravel surface the Yeti handbrake won't lock the wheels like the Fabia and Jag. The dealer says there is nothing wrong with the Yeti brakes!

    Rusty bits.

No, that is not the problem. The problem is the rusting of modern discs. Since about 2000 brake discs have rusted far quicker than before. I have modern disc pads on my Jaguar. If you leave a new car out in the rain overnight the discs are rusty by next morning - that doesn't happen to my Jag! Nor did it happen to my previous cars of the 1990s. Norry

Yes, modern discs are made of poor steel - my 22 year old Jaguar still has the original discs at 85,000 miles and they are in excellent condition! Norry

    Rusty bits.

Yes! As in first post. Norry
  19. Exactly! You are not supposed to be jacking on the sill seam but just behind it on the flat area. I have made wooden pads with positioning slots for the sill and flat parts for the support areas for my 2 trolley jacks. The problem still is that there are no obvious areas where stands can be placed without damaging the floor pan or suspension. That is why I use 2 trolley jacks for safety. Norry

    Rusty bits.

Looking under my Yeti I am astonished at the rusty bits underneath. Every nut and bolt and forged part is rusty. I fully realise that it is not dangerous rust but it will make things awkward when any future repairs have to be made. Has anyone else seen the rust under their Yeti? Norry
  21. At some point I want to replace the damaged N/S front wing and am looking at doing it myself. Norry
  22. Can anyone tell me how the front wheel arch liners are fixed before I start struggling? Thanks for any help or directions to an instruction sheet. Norry
  23. Hopefully it is the SE 1.4 16V. Norry
