  1. If there is a fault with the cam sensor or wiring, the ecu will look to the crank sensor. The car will still run but not as good. Check wiring, repair wiring or replace sensor if needed.
  2. Lol and there I am accusing people of not reading the post properly, off to bed I go.
  3. And I agree that more frequent oil changes can only be a good thing.
  4. I know, but the original poster was asking for advice on a top up with his tfsi being on fixed and fixed servicing requires the use of 5W40 not 5W30. Sorry guys I'm not meaning to be a di*ck, just answering the question which was asked.
  5. If it's on fixed (10K) you should be using the 5W40 502.00/505.00. If it's variable (up to 20K) then you need the 5W30 504.00/507.00
  6. I have a belt driven 2007 TFSI. Mine rattled for a few months until the battery gave up. One day I turned the key, the engine turned maybe twice at the most then rattled like it hadn't before, but didn't start this time and it wouldn't even turn over again. New battery and it hasn't rattled since.
  7. My NSR window has issues. I havn't had a chance to look into it yet, but down is up and up is down :-/
  8. Removing the discs can be a difficult DIY . The carrier is held on by two M14 Spline head bolts that are torqued to 90nm + 90 degrees.
  9. As Patrol man said if you can't remove the glow plugs or injectors you can use an oscilloscope with a pressure transducer.
  10. 1.5L in 3,500 miles is fantastic for a VAG 2.0 TFSI. These engines are well known for gulping oil. The average consumption seems to be 1L to every 1000 miles.
  11. How many miles have you done to 7 litres? Sounds like you have a leak if it is all over the place.
  12. It is normal for turbo seals to weep a small amount of oil. Some service plans include a drain of the boost hose.
  13. So you're running 272mm with the pads being 8mm wider than the face of the disc? I would've fitted the 280's. I had a similar issue with a 2006 Sharan last week. I set out to fit a new drive belt. The belt ECP supplied was 1195 but I couldn't get it to fit. I checked the one that came off it was 1215. I rang VW who told me the belt size was 1195 but no way was that belt going on. So I checked ECP website for a 2007 Sharan, they listed the belt being 1215 so I ordered that one and all was good.
  14. There is room in the centre to get a jack pad in without touching the arms or any bolts.
  15. I'd just buy a new one, you're probably looking at around £80 from ECP.
  16. It all depends on which system your car was factory fitted with. Bosch, Lucas or Teves?
  17. I sold a car on finance once and the sale was less than I owed. You can do it but the finance company must be informed and they must recieve the full amount of the sale price, only then will they release their hold over it. The previous owner then arranges to pay the outstanding balance in full or monthly. The trouble is will the seller pay VW the monies? Do VW know the sellers intentions? Personally I'd walk away, too much hassle.
  18. Jack on the subframe or remove the plastic undershield and jack on the chassis leg, it'll be fine. Sent from my LT26i using Tapatalk
  19. I rang Superchips today and they told me it is locked to my VIN. At a price of £225 to reset I'd be lucky to get £100. Sent from my LT26i using Tapatalk
  20. Thanks, I was just wondering what to do with mine when I get rid of my TFSI soon. The map is in the bluefin, I thought it could be uploaded to another VAG BWA code?.
  21. Hey guys, it's been a while since I posted here. I am wondering if anyone has experience with buying or selling a new bluefin?.
  22. I never use them either, yes they release the sluge in the sump but that's the danger. The sluge is then free to clog up the oil filter which could force open the pressure release valve meaning unfiltered sluge going through the oil pump and oil galleries resulting in pressure problems. Treatments are meant to keep clean engines clean not clean dirty engines.
  23. While Audi drivers are given new pistons Skoda owners are left scratching their heads, shocking.
  24. Free loading members can be just as valuable and in some cases more valuable to this forum and it's members. I am a free loader and I hold a level 3 qualification in vehicle service and repair which I paid over £1,300 for and took me two years to complete. Needless to say I give much more than I take, and I was self employed as a taxi driver for just under 10 years, I know all about discounts and set rates. I also understand the need to compete and keep customers happy, word of mouth goes a long way. If you ask me the real free loaders are the ones that snatch info and leave to save paying a garage without even saying thanks! Freedom members included. I have been known to share my knowledge at my own effort and expense.
