Genuine nav upgrade cheap on ebay
daquifsta replied to john_20v's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
Just a quickie for anyone DIY-ing one of these. Mine was fitted by a dealer, and they didn't follow the instructions precisely. There is actually a huge space behind the head unit screen, and this is where the dealer put the Nav. unit itself. The advantage of this is that you only have to pop the head unit screen out to get to the SD card slot to do software or map updates, not fight the glovebox in and out each time! -

Going into Sport mode (without being asked to)
daquifsta replied to RichardB53's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
I've set my 'individual' drive mode up to be everything vRS but with D instead of S, then (since I discovered it in this thread!) I use the 'nudge back' to flip to S when I want the full experience rather than moving through all the drive modes with the vRS button, which I find a bit tedious. So I'm doing the same as you but in the opposite way! -
Leon Cupra 280/290 - where are they all?
daquifsta replied to rob_e's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
For me, the decision was a chunk of brand loyalty built up in my previous Mk2 VRS PD170 and also that there just aren't any SEAT dealers near to me...... -
VRS 230 menu items missing
daquifsta replied to pickard's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
I think I'm right in saying that the ICE manual now covers all models, *car* models that is, as well as ICE models. I think the multi coloured jazzy ambient lighting only exists in Superbs? But in answer to your question, my MY16 vRS 230 does not have that screen.... -
Hi all, I've had a good search through the forum, and I genuinely can't find an answer to this, but huge apologies if this has been answered before or I've missed something really obvious in the manual! Anyway, unlike an awful lot of the posts I've seen on here, I *don't* want to play tracks in random order across an entire SD card. Instead I want the bloody thing to play whole albums in the alphabetical order of the artists' name. The unit in my car seems absolutely set on playing albums in the alphabetical order of the album name instead. Is this some menu setting I've missed somewhere? My SD cards are formatted with folders for each artist then below that a folder for each album, which contains the actual tracks. I use MP3dirsorter to physically place the artist folders in alphabetical order and the tracks in alphabetical order within each folder on the SD card before popping it back into the car, which is a trick I learned with the ZENEC head unit I had in my MkII Help, it's driving me slightly nuts!

The other issue here is that we're all assuming that GPS indicated speeds are somehow perfectly accurate, which is unlikely to be the case.

I'm not seeing any particular mistakes in that, except for it having Amundsen and not Bolero - have they updated it since you read it do you think? I would say it's a tad expensive though - mine was a grand less than that, admittedly with 4K miles on it not 2K but still... -
Can anyone identify this part for me?
daquifsta replied to EoinM's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
I'm with you on this, FlyingGecko, although it would be nice if they were actually universal because I'd quite like a set for mine...... -
I've just done a very similar swap to you, from a mk2 vRS PD170 to the 230 hatch. It's a little bigger all round, decently screwed together though you're going to take a bit of a hit on fuel consumption, whatever your driving style, but fuel economy isn't why you're buying a 230! I think the only thing that I find a bit annoying in everyday use is the auto stop-start, but that's not unique to this car, and you can turn it off. I'd say to just take it out for a test drive and see how it feels to you - mine just felt like 'home' straight away, so I bought it :sun:

This was mine, a 1987 120L in Rowan Red. I love my vRS, but I'd have this back as a second car in a heartbeat!

ŠKODA Voice Control system - how is working?
daquifsta replied to jkt's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
It seems to handle my horrible Thames Estuary accent pretty decently, I actually wish you could do more with it, like changing the drive mode for example. -
I had the Kenwood GVN-MIB1 (Garmin GVN60) fitted by Beadles Maidstone yesterday after two months of wrangling since agreeing to buy the car, with me doing all the chasing of the dealership! Anyway I'm happy to answer questions / take pictures if it will help anybody. So far I'm not exactly blown away by the interface of the Nav. itself, but the integration with the Bolero is seamless and it seems pretty fast when calculating routes.

Anyone have any information about 230 engine?
daquifsta replied to POOLBRADDERS's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
The only thing I've found so far is this http://australiancar.reviews/GolfGTi-Mk7_CHHA-CHHB_Engine.php which has a fair amount of technical info. -
Thoughts on Potential MK3 VRS Octavia Estate
daquifsta replied to DarthMather's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
The most ridiculous error of all must be the 'black design package', which the standard chrome grill and body coloured door mirror cappings would rather suggest otherwise..... -
I've only had my vRS 230 for a month, covering about 800 miles so far, which equates to about two tanks of Shell V Power Nitro dinosaur juice. Each of those tanks included a decent motorway run (one to Brighton and one to Silverstone) and some local pootling and I've averaged 38.5 mpg so far. I'd describe my driving style as fairly steady, with occasional visits to the end of the accelerator travel! I'm also very interested to hear people's thoughts on the stage 1 remap options, you know, for the minute after the warranty runs out :sun:

Missed out on a 230? No problem...

I did think about Seat, but then I realised that they just don't have many dealerships near me (North Kent), whereas there are at lest three Skoda that I can think of! -
Extreme Alloy Wheel Repair
daquifsta replied to DAVEY_DAVE's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
The advantage to doing this that Halfords' bog standard gloss black touch up pen will match the painted bits of your alloys perfectly, if anything else happens to them in the future..... -
vRS230 to be dropped very soon..
daquifsta replied to marko's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
I wonder if there's anybody on the inside who can tell us how many 230's will end up being actually built? I'd love to know how 'limited' my limited edition is
