  1. Oh my!! How many more months of winter still ahead??

Probably at least 7 at this rate! emoticon-0138-thinking.gif

Temp rose to balmy -3C by 5am which meant only one thing - more snow!!!! Grrrrr

Glad we're not getting Panama's thunder storms though, even if it's 30C. emoticon-0140-rofl.gif

  2. 2 inches of the white stuff since midnightemoticon-0101-sadsmile.gif

Tomorrow's forecast is making me unhappy

    SundayChance of Snow. Partly Cloudy. High: 3 °C . Wind ENE 28 km/h . 30% chance of precipitation (water equivalent of 5.19 mm). Windchill: -13 °C .

-13C indeed. Time for a very long stay in bed? emoticon-0102-bigsmile.gif

  3. Think I'd better stop moaning!! Whats up with you mate?? emoticon-0124-worried.gif

The file is now 2 inches thick so I can't even begin to precis it all! And I'm sure I couldn't spell most of the words!

Started off as something relatively straight forward but developed into a much more major problem with early attempts to fix being unsuccessful.

On the mend now though emoticon-0142-happy.gif

Hope your 100% sorted soon emoticon-0148-yes.gif

  4. If they find a baby...... emoticon-0140-rofl.gif CHEERRRRCHING!!! emoticon-0136-giggle.gif

I'd never been in hospital til this year. So far:

Endoscopy + Colonoscopy (cameras in both ends under general anaesthetic)

    3 MRI scans

4 ops (all under general anaesthetic)

1 minor op (local anaesthetic to come next week)

    + 10 Consultations @ £125- £250 - each!

Bill to date? Circa £16k emoticon-0101-sadsmile.gif Oh well, just grateful for the insurance emoticon-0148-yes.gif Am I nearly there yet?????? emoticon-0136-giggle.gif

  5. From today's BBC Scotland News page:

Perth Sheriff Court closed for fumigation

A Scottish court has been cleared and fumigated after a man who was charged with breach of the peace appeared to lose control of his bodily functions.

Proceedings were halted at Perth Sheriff Court after the man was spotted with a large brown mark on the rear of his trousers.

Staff then removed stained cushions before the court was recalled.

The court's public toilet was also closed due to a hygiene issue but it is unclear if the incidents are related.

Maybe given a bigger sentence than expected emoticon-0136-giggle.gif

  6. Aldi have had a powercraft one floating around the stores for the last few weeks.

Unsure how good it is. I have the old powercraft one, the same as Baker 21 uses and that is fantastic.

Don,t think that the new one is made by the same people for them, does not look as sturdy, but I am sure it still comes with a three year warranty.

It was one of their special offers, but my local store still had plenty for sale last weekend.

    Is this the one?

  7. Had a few letters this week "to give advance notice" that my energy bills VAT rate will be adjusted on 4th January to 7.5% VAT from what is now just 5% they say the 2.5% increase on gas and electric bills reflects the government's new vat rates.

Don't think that is correct. The only change in VAT wef 4 January 2011 is in the standard rate ie 17.5% goes up to 20%

There is NO change to zero and reduced rates of VAT ie 0% and 5% rates.

    See here from HMRC

  8. I have GPS on my phone, can I be the Navigator??

To help pay for the fuel we could pass by Japan and rent out the deck as a driving range; I know they are a bit short on space over there.

1 Excellent qualifications for the job. I'll endorse your application.

2 Brill idea re golf. Please note though that I've arranged for a mega go cart racing circuit on the flight deck - a sort of Le Mans at Sea. So no teeing off when the chequer flag is flying.

  9. Could always ask at http://androidforums.com/t-mobile-g1/

I'm sure they'll know the answer.

Thanks for the info - I'll be visiting at frequent intervals!

Poss development: phone indicated about an hour ago that an update had been downloaded (I didn't know anything about it) and was ready to instal. It's 65mb!

Risked topping up with another £5 and hey, it's still there and hasn't disappeared like the other £65! Hope it's still there tomorrow.

  10. what apps are installed?

Could be the browser as well.

    Thanks for you interest.

The only things I see on the menu are Google Mail, Google Talk, IM, Maps, Market, YouTube. The browser address is google.com

This is a copy of this afternoon's bill. It appears to be clocking up 48 pence charges every 3 seconds!!!!

  11. Can anyone help an non-techie before he goes bankrupt?

Decided to update my old mobile (on Virgin PAYG) with a HTC Dream bought from someone on here. New phone is all nice and shiny with unused accessories BUT

I've spoken to around a dozen people at Virgin Customer Services and each has a different theory about my problem. I wonder if anyone here can assist?

The first evening I installed the old Virgin SIM card into the new phone, the remaining credit of £23 disappeared overnight! Two subsequent top ups vanished within minutes of being credited.

I've also had 2 'free' credits of £5 given to me by Virgin but they too disappeared within minutes. I've not downloaded anything or accessed the internet although the last Customer Service guy said I was clocking up internet costs of 48pence per minute when the phone was switched on. The previous Rep said he could only trace 48p worth of calls and the remainder of the £5 could not be traced on his system.

One other CS rep said 2 weeks ago that she suspected a firm called Flytxt were accessing the phone and that I should sent a STOPALL message to a 5 digit number. Sadly my txt message is always bounced back followed 10 seconds later by a message (which doesn't go into my Inbox) saying that I should top up as there is no credit on the account! There's no indication that this message is originated by Virgin.

I'm totally baffled and the best Virgin can offer now is to cut off my internet access which rather defeats the purpose of having it there in the first place as Virgin access to the web is only 30p per day (not 48p per minute!).

Today I bought a brand new Virgin PAYG Sim card and put it in the HTC Dream (noting this would be a new mobile phone number). Topped up with £5 and guess what? It's disappeared within a couple of minutes of being credited! I just can't see where it's all going!!

    Any advice greatly received.
