Love the wheels, really suit the octavia.

Well it's been a while, so thought I'd update.
Clutch and rear beam bushes are sorted, can't believe how knackered the old ones were. Drives like a dream now!!!
Also, seeing as the weather has been so cr*p I got around to fitting my black carpet today. Much improved over the white one.
White one on the way out, complete with coffee stain.
All out and cleaned up.
New one fitted and I'm well pleased. Skoda should have fitted black from new!!
Cheers

Well, yesterday didn't go quite to plan with the clutch replacement. The garage rang and said they had been misquoted on the parts price and wanted to try and squeeze another £120 out of me. Needless to say I wasn't impressed.
After a bit of ringing around I got the price down by £110 for the full clutch and solid flywheel including the labour at a place more local to me. That also includes doing the rear beam bushes as well, a job which I wasn't looking forward to doing!
On the up side I won a mint black carpet from a golf for £23 so well chuffed with that. I know what I'll be doing on Sunday.
Cheers

These turned up today

I had mine done at the main dealer (Silbury Skoda) as they were competitive on price. Might be worth an ask at the nearest one to you?
If you don't mind driving north a bit Swift Motor Engineering in Newcastle are excellent.

Sounds like you had an awesome time!
Just got to say the attention to detail on this build is superb. Two thumbs up!!

I'm for it. First outing in the occy.

The info is in the north east local meetings section. It's a first for me so hopefully it will be good.

It's staying standard apart from changing to a solid flywheel. Thought about an upgraded clutch but for what I'm running it isn't worth the extra cost.
You going to the meet at the metro centre 10th March?

£90 + VAT
That's not bad, I'll put it on the ever growing list.

Hi All,
The bad weather has hindered progress on my build thread, but a spanner in the works came in the form of my wife burning the clutch out in the snow the other week. :(
Pretty gutted as its a big outlay, haven't really got the space to do it myself so I've had to book it in to a local VAG specialist.
Whilst its in I'm having the rear beam bushes done as well as I think they're knackered. Car seems to be very twitchy on the bumpy roads across the moor that I drive every day.
Gonna cheer myself up today with a monster cleaning session.

Wheels are different from the norm, good choice! Was the wheel alignment expensive at Revoloution? I've tried getting a price in the past and no joy from them.
-
Thanks for the reply Mike. Do you still do the VR6 clutch and G60 flywheel conversions?
The above is a little out of my price range :(
If not I'd consider the ECS kit and probably fit it myself, any Brisky discount?

Hi,
After the bad weather this week, and coupled with my wife's driving, I think she's burnt the clutch out on my Octavia vRS. It's not slipping but the biting point is near the top and there's still smell coming from the clutch. I've been reading threads about upgrading the dual mass flywheel to single mass, but I'm a bit unsure if this is needed. There doesn't seem to be any rattle on idle which from what I've read is a symptom of the flywheel failing.
Could you advise and price me the parts needed? The car is an 03 plate Octavia vRS 1.8T with a stage 1 remap.
Many thanks

Hi Lewy
That's the right number
The rrp is £215.88 and the discounted price is £172.70, plus £10 delivery.
Thanks
Rob
Thanks Rob, I'll let you know tomorrow if funds allow.

Rob,
I'm after a kit for my Octavia vRS Mk1 03 plate. I think the kit number is KIT 5133K.
Can you confirm if this is right and a price please?
Cheers

Sorry to hear about the bad run of fortune Gee, life sets us these tests of character.
Hopefully the person who did it will get it back two fold. You can't mess with karma.

The tyre pressures was my first thought. Even though there was a slight difference in each tyre, when I put them right I still have the problem.
-
Cheers for the replies, wasn't planning on spending much more on it, but I think a new set of coilovers and bushes all round won't do any harm.
Just have to convince Mrs L.

Worn or bushes are the usual culprits. They don't always show with the car up in the air.
I suppose age will play its part and deteriorate bushes. Any thoughts on where to start?

My 2003 Octavia Vrs has got just over 51k on the clock, and within the last few weeks the car seems to be handling like a bag of sh** e.
It has a standard suspension set up with the only upgrade being a whiteline RARB. I fitted new Toyo Proxes recently, and I know theyre probably not the best in the wet, but my confidence in the car has been totally undermined. It seems to skip all over the road at reasonable speeds, and sometimes I feel like the back end is skidding out.
I've been under the car, jacked it up and can see no play anywhere. Does anyone think that the tyres are are playing a part in the crud handling or am I missing something? I know the car is 9 years old, but wasn't driven hard by the previous owner and I've only done 7k in the last year.
Can anyone point me in the direction of any checks I can do before throwing a boat load of cash on a new suspension setup?
Cheers in advance

Sounds like a cool gadget Gee, but you must know that most proper blokes don't read the instruction manual!

No mate, its out of a Mk4 golf. Both 3 & 5 door fit I think. Cheap as chips on eBay.
