  1. thank you for the replies, I found a VAG Retrofitting company down the midlands that states it fits OEM cameras and can supply a calibration certificate with the Job as well as coding via Odis , so surely they would have access to the "Tokens" with Odis to enable a legitimate MIB 3 coding change to the car ?? I will send them an email enquirey quoting my Vin Number for full clarification .
  2. Thanks for taking the time to reply, so even a skoda OEM rear view camera fiteed and coded to display correctly will still harbour a hidden fault code ?? WOW so in other words my warranty will be possibly voided if I get one fitted ? Sounds like a can of worms better avoided in that case. I managed without one on my last sportline estate but thought I would get one fitted on my new 22 plate sportline plus estate. maybe I would be better just buying a removeable blue tooth type camera that is not connected to the cars canbus system? Can anyone advise whether the hidden fault code would invalidate warranty ?? My gut feeling is that it would be seen as incompatible by the manufacturer and invalidate my remaining 2 years warranty. i think I will seek out another type of removeable camera in the interim, I have until easter when the towing begins in earnest again. Thank you for your reply, much appreciated
  3. Just picked up on this thread, as Im interested in fitting a rear view camera on my superb sportline estate 2022 plate, I asked mitchell Skoda Chester for a price and they said they cannot fit one , I asked why and service Lady said "I dont know why but workshop said they cannot fit one" Sounds pretty vague to me , though I suspect its because they dont have the calibration facilities for the newer MIB3 platform software fits, at first she said "do you want it just coding -or supply and fit "? I know they have fitted them previously for other owners on earlier cars, this conundrum with the warranty also seems to open up a further can of worms. I found a firm in the Midlands that fit OEM cameras and code using ODIS so it can be done, Just strange why a main agent wont take the job on locally?? Im still non the wiser as to if I get a retro fit and coding from an Indy whether this will flag up some kind of diagnostic code later on that might affect my manufacturers warranty. I am bit miffed that a main agent wont accept the Job yet an indy can fit an OEM camera and seemingly code it up and even supply me with a callibration certificate ? Anyone else had a camera fitted on a late MIB3 platform skoda at a main agents in the north West ??
  4. Hi Sasha, i read your post with great interest regarding you fitting a rear view camera to a 2020 facelift Superb estate, I hope you might be able to point me in the right direction. I have just sold my 2017 superb sportline estate for a new 2022 sportline plus estate with DSG (previously always been a manual driver). I have read countless accounts of the DSG boxes being much nicer to drive and also glowing accolades from people towing caravans so I sold one of my kidneys to buy this car I was looking at buying a rear view camera for my new 2022 sportline to assist when hooking up my caravan to save me murdering my wife who just waves her arms around like she is herding cows ! ,I have now discovered out that my 2015 Hex +USB +CAN VCDS dongle will not interface fully with my new car, it showed the modules on a full scan and their status but not the DSG module and said "incompatible" so I need to buy a new VCDS that will interface properly. I have found out that there are SFD access blockers on some modules on the newer cars but not sure whether the rear camera fitting would be permitted / blocked by SFD when it comes to coding with even a newer VCDS?? Did you have to code your camera in -or was it plug and play as some people cite on posts ? Also did you fit an official camera or something like this one ? https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000230897829.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.40694c4dTEPT93 I see you are a fellow caravanner which leads me to my final question, did you encounter any problems coding in your after market tow bar electrics ? I am getting mine done next week in Abergele, they did my last one and coded it in correctly leaving my ACC working correctly and the trailer hitch showing on the screen, was this allowed on your facelift superb or did you have any issues with the coding of tow bar? Sorry for the essay any tips would be greatly appreciated I wish my daughter was as switched on as you when it comes to Cars You have an amazing depth of knowledge regarding these cars ! Kind Regards Jon
  5. sorry for the glacial response on this had a few Bereavements in the family over the last few years. Anyway Main Agents phoned to say they were changing the cambelt and tensioner , I found out there was a TSB on this problem, they replaced belt and tensioner, but the noise is /was still there and was apparently the oil /Vacc pump drive which was still there 25.000 trouble free miles later, I traded it in last week for the new sportline plus superb estate with another newer type 150 bhp Diesel engine, I just noticed a slight squeaking down the pulley side of the engine on this replacement car from a cold start, I dont know if there are any service bulletins out on this noise , its just about perceptable to my ear, the cars only done 11,000 miles from new. I will keep an ear/eye out on it .
  6. Thanks for that information Vroom, at least its some kind of barometer, though I think the DQ200 Boxes are more common place as you pointed out
  7. Hi Jamie thanks for the update, I will be getting the remaining 2 years skoda warranty with the car, and the general advice seems to be to get an extended warranty once the initial 3 years is about to expire, If I go for this car I will likely go for extended warranty even after the 2 years given the complexity of this transmission and the fact I will be towing about 1,000 mile a year. So Glad you got your problem fixed and that all seems well again., thanks again for your response.
  8. Thanks for the response, indeed Im trying to ascertain what the actual failure rate is on these boxes, I know the only people who usually post about their DSG box is 99% when a problem occurs and there are lots of people who are likely very happy with their DSG boxes who we never hear from Regarding the Roundabout Dilema, it appears that the scenario occurs as you are slowing up approaching (coasting towards the roundabout ready to stop but also ready to push through if a gap is there) that seems to be when the hesitation is reported, as you slow down but see a nice clear Gap and accelerate over the roundabout, people report that there is a 3 second gap before any response which must seem like a lifetime on a roundabout even more worrying with said caravan on the back, I wonder if this is a common experience with DSG gearboxes ?
  9. Interesting post and rather concerning as well, I was about to buy a 2022 150 bhp TDI superb estate, in replacement for my current 150bhp tdi Manual Superb estate as a retirement present to myself, However I am very concerned that I am not embarking on a route to frustration and worry by replacing my flawless Manual tdi with a 7 speed DSG model. There seems to be an emerging trend of DQ381 DSG Failures reaching VAG forums and the very useful video posted by Toot above also seems to suggest that there is a growing Trend of owners let down BY Skoda /VAG Dealerships leaving an opening for companies like this one shown in the video. I am looking at Towing a 1300kg Caravan with my replacement car in DSG form , I have noted owners saying their cars only pull away in 2nd gear, and on the BHP forum from india there was a very long list of people saying they thought the DQ381 gearshifting was erratic and especially dangerous pulling accross Roundabouts, which is something you dont want when pulling a 23 foot caravan behind you. By looking at Erwin Skoda I found out that the car I am looking at is a DQ381 DSG Gearbox, the salesman knows nothing about the intricacies of such a complex piece of kit and once he has the money does he really care ? It seems VAG are letting their customers down Badly concerning DSG Problems and will wriggle out of any Moralistic duty of customer care. Im not attempting to Hiijack This thread just looking for advice /experiences from other DSG owners Can anyone else towing with a DSG DQ381 on here give any advice on their experiences with this box whilst towing, (most caravan owners dont realise what gearbox they are running until the SHTF Moment) should I stick to a manual Gearbox in light of these issues or have they been engineered out on 2022 models ?? Thanks in adavance and very sorry to hear of the woes Jamie 1991 Encountered I sincerely hope Jamie 1991 Fixed his problem via an independant, would be interesting to see what his final outcome was as well for future referance of other owners.
  10. Thanks for the link , I wonder how much this will effect the pricing of the latest face lift superbs, Im in the market for one, so maybe I should wait for the newer ones to appear and buy the "Older" model which has been around long enough to iron out all the gremlins and usually you get higher specced car as the dealers move them on ? Well that is usually the case anyway Be interesting to see if they can make the superb estates boot even bigger !
  11. Thats a very nice looking car, similar colour to mine, Im sure you will enjoy driving it as well
  12. Great Cars, Im on my 3rd and looking at a 4th one if the right deal comes along and I can convince myself that the new Ad Blu system isnt going to be a headache, its got to be a Diesel for me as I have now bought a caravan.,Bet the 280 is a real flyer ,I currently have the sportline TDI none Ad Blu model and its got all the toys I will ever need :)
  13. I was flirting with the idea of buying a 2022 skoda superb estate TDI 150 Manual to replace my sportline estate, but Im quite concerned about the constant issues I seem to be coming accross on forums regarding Ad Blu systems , on mercedes especially , I know the earlier Ad blu cars had problems , But can anyone tell me are they still experiencing issues with the latest TDI Ad Blu systems ?
  14. I was thinking of treating myself to a newer superb TDI estate, My Current sportline tdi is non Ad Blu, Euro 6 engine and only £20 a year to tax, I cannot see the point in spending a huge amount of money for a newer one that seems to have been beset by problems with the introduction of this Ad Blu, plus a new sportline is now £40k which mewans its £500 a year road tax to drive on our ever deteriorating road system here in UK. Do they seem to have ironed out the problem , or at least know how to fix them when they occur ??? any technical updates for these vehicles to solve the problem ??
  15. Thanks for your owner review of the Mercedes, I have been a skoda /VW passat driver for many years, none of them ever let me Down, I always service them myself, and run regular diagnostic checks on DPF etc, However I recently took my brother to the Airport in his 220 Mercedes Diesel car and my wife and I were both impressed with the smoothness of the car and absoloute comfort. I saw A Mercedes E350 BLUETEC AMG LINE PREMIUM 5d 255 BHP estate advertised at a garage 55k and went for a look at it, The condition was very nice indeed, I started the engine and it was as smooth as silk, I didnt drive it as I asked the sales guy how much he would give me against my 2017 Superb sportline Estate 150bhp Diesel with 40,000 on the clock, he offered me £14500 against this 2015 Diesel Mercedes priced at £20K, which I thought was a Joke, he mentioned a scratch on the wheel arch and said "paint jobs are so expensive nowdays" as though he was justifying the low price. I went away and looked up some information on the mercedes especially the faults they encounter, I was amazed to find there were 8 "defeat Devices" fitted to this model mercedes to bring it in line with the emissions tests, and also that there were numerous electrical faults attributed to this Top Spec car. The concensus was that these cars lose their reliability fairly regularly which is a great shame, but the same issues were encountered on the once legendary Sprinter vans that lost their status as a bomb proof van . I know the earlier Mercedes Cars were Bomb Proof , but it seems that the later cars have far too much technical issues and they run on a very complicated ECU control system. I decided to leave it where it was, I saw another sportline same year same mileage as mine on a forecourt and it was on sale at just under £21k so this guy was hoping to make a few grand profit on My superb..(nice try) Think I will stick with Skoda , pity because the E350 is a lovely car but Bit like the wife -its far too complicated at times Thanks for an interesting review .
  16. just had this car under 2 weeks and noticed it makes this catching sound , as if something is out of balance around the Auxilliary pulley area, skoda Technician told me there is a technical service bulletin out on the Alternator pulley, anyone else have knowledge of this phenomena in the 2.0 150 bhp euro 6 diesel engine ? Car is 26,000 mile skoda approved superb estate 2017 full service History just had the pre sale multi point check as well that Skoda Approved cars undergo. Thanks in advance anyone who can offer any advice.
  17. Just looking at changing my 2007 1.9 pd TDI OCTY cambelt including water pump. I know this has been done to death on timing intervals for renewal , Dayco, VAG, parts, Gates, but not found any feedback /comments on INA cambelt kits. I know INA make the original pulleys for VAG cars and their quality is allegedly excellent but since as far as I am aware they dont manufacture BELTS - (they are a German Bearings Manufacturer) I was wondering if any of my fellow owners /techies might share their experience or knowledge of such things. I live a few miles from Chester and I have been offered a price of £269 by a local indy garage which seems a fair price considering main Agents want ...Deep Breaths .....£475 for same JOb - both jobs quoted includ water pump replacement. I have seen original VAG set for £177 incl wterpump, stretch Bolts and all VAG kit supply only from Darkside. Any feed back much appreciated , was going to do it myself but it looks very a restricted work space down O/S of transverse engine and I have not got all the alignment tools. Thanks In Advance. Chaps
