  1. Had a Superb 2 with the 140CR diesel. Great car. Commute was one hour, 95% motorway. Never had any issue for 6 years. I then changed jobs. Commute became 15 minutes, no motorway at all. Within 2 months I had to go and do forced DPF regen on the highway. Within another month I had injector failure. You can mock me, but I honestly thought I could feel the car was not happy. It really seemed to 'miss' it's usual commute... 3 months after that I swapped it for a Superb 3 150 petrol.
  2. I went to the insurance and the garage. RIP. Mr pheasant! At first sight nothing major, just the foglight access panel was popped out. Nothing looked wrong, popped right back in. Next day in daylight however... Little bits of plastic fell out...then I checked the center grille...yep...cracked...
  3. Have you tried it with the CC stalk pulled towards you? Don't know your spec, does the car have lane assist and adaptive cruise? Also you could try going into infotainment and resetting everything, it might be a setting.... One issue I've read about was someone messing about with the cruise control lowest speed threshold in vcds, and cruise could not be enabled because the car basically never was in the correct parameters
  4. Have you checked the car for error codes? Might point you in the right direction. Dealer or independent garage might charge a fee, or find a local member with vcds/vagcom diagnose software.
  5. Ah yes I'm in Belgium, maybe they are not available over there. Will also add that I would also prefer the 2.0, but in Belgium they are very expensive in tax so not an option...
  6. I have an S3 estate L&K with the 1.5 DSG, excellent mileage and enough poke for me, but I'm a relaxed driver. Researched the DQ200 box before purchase. Not too worried about it, but I have budgeted fluid changes of the 'sealed for life' unit. If you are looking for a car, I'd prioritize general condition, service history, engine size, options, color. In that order. If you want to avoid all parts that can break, well, you will never buy a car. Also be weary there are some frustrated people on this board who had bad experiences with their Skoda, and they spend their free time in every thread extolling the virtues of brand Z or Y. Alternatively, they always go for the 'Skoda should do this' or 'nobody should buy this car', etc. They also love to change usernames every once a while. Bit sad really, used to be a fun place this. Good luck with the search!
  7. S3C L&K 1.5 with DSG7 here, lots of short runs in crap weather with crap traffic and winter tires, 44MPG across the board. Summertime closer to 47/8. Happy as a clam with the engine and gearbox combo. Quiet and refined, with just enough poke to overtake if needed. Had several 2.0 diesels before, loved the torque but with my current mileage just not worth it from new.
  8. It's the remote for your auxiliary heater. Basically you can 'pre-heat' your car using the remote or an app or set a scheduler somewhere in the settings menu so your car heats up before a certain time. More info in your manual Or look HERE or watch THIS

  10. x2 I had a bad experience with carsequipment...better to avoid...A real shame, I used to buy lots from them... Goed gedaan trouwens, mede-Belg
  11. Is it the MY2019 in your profile? Dealer visit I think. Ask for a tech to ride along, identify the rattle and say "THAT needs to be gone". Also make sure the surrounding trim isn't scratched or broken after collection. If you want to try to solve it yourself (I wouldn't recommend) you can try wedging a piece of soft foam between the edges to stop a rattle or a buzz. Licenseplate tape works (foam with sticky backing), cut to size...
  12. Not at all, and same here Who knows, maybe one day you'll be back (or I will move the Volvo side 😇 ) ((totally not configuring a V90 online at the moment 😍 ))
  13. Corrected. I hope you really enjoy your new car (still jealous! ) and enjoy the Volvo forums.
  14. I guess. I've got my car for a year now, and I've been flashed once…there's a mighty steep hill near where I live. I came over the hill and the nose swung down. Below was a car coming, the camera was literally looking straight up at the sky so no time to adapt, and he flashed. I still think this was someone who saw highbeams approaching from behind the hill before he ever saw my car, and as soon as he saw my car with the highbeams on he flashed. I disabled the system, but I wonder if the car would have actually been fast enough to adapt when we finally were pointing at eachother. I think yes. Great system, within reason.
  15. @JackySi Have you seen this? Can you compare this to your experiences in your Superb? Same? Better? Worse?
  16. Well then i can only conclude your safety standards are higher then Skoda's, or your car was faulty and your dealer didn't fix the problem 🤷‍♂️
  17. I can only say that is not the way my car works. I have driven matrix LED cars at night, the light is alot sharper and the "cutoff" of the edges is sharper, I found the "black" area smaller due to there were more LEDs that could be on even when shading other cars, and the reaction time was quicker, but certainly not "5-10 seconds"-quicker. I can only repeat you must have had a bad camera or calibration. Also, I think YOUR threshold for detection is alot lower then the car's….just because YOU could see the headlights of a car shining around a corner or over a hill, that doesn't mean your car could detect it. I personally think you had a few bad experiences (badly lit old cars in front of you not being detected, lots of undulating roads up-and-down in your area where all SLA systems always suffer, maybe problems with your particular camera,...) and you just ended up wanting to disable the system as soon as YOU saw another car, instead of letting your car decide.
  18. OFCOURSE it works poorly when you (again!) compare xenon to matrix LED! It's not the Skoda camera or the Skoda lights or the Skoda badge, it's the technology! It's OLDER! Matrix LED = faster Xenon AFS SLA = slower You want the faster system, you pay the premium price. It doesn't mean the Xenon AFS SLA system is bad (because otherwise EVERYBODY would complain), it just means you have unrealistic expectations. And this is what's prevalent on the forum these days, you have people buying Skoda expecting Audi or VW level quality and features, not understanding Skoda should be seen as the "price-quality" offering of the VAG range. I'm honestly surprised Skoda has the digital dash, matrix LED, adaptive suspension, etc. 10 Years ago you could really tell Skoda was the lesser brand, you just got the previous generation Golf with a different badge and that was it. Nowadays when they buy Skoda everybody expects to really get an Audi with a big discount. And after they discover there is still a difference between brands, next day on Briskoda; "DON'T BUY SKODA, NEVER AGAIN, TOTAL RIPOFF, I NOW HAVE BRAND X AND IT'S WAY BETTER". Anyway. Good luck with your Volvo (cracking cars, I really like the V90 estate!) and enjoy it.
  19. Sound like there was something wrong with your car then. Did you take it to the dealer?
  20. You cannot separate the two. As lightsource you are comparing xenonbulbs (your old Superb) to LED (Volvo). One of the advantages of your LED system is fast response (milliseconds) using separate LEDS to shape the beam. On / off, instant reaction. Skoda Xenon SLA works with mechanical shutters and rollers, these have to come down/up/sideways, or the bulb has to swivel, or both, so it takes alot longer to shape the beam and the range is limited. The movement of the shutters is what you percieve as slow. You could put the "faster" camera of the Volvo in the Superb, but the shutters of the 'old' system will not work faster, the response will still be slower then LED, and you would still find the system slow to respond. Skoda = old VW technology. Volvo is renowned for their lights, at the cutting edge so to speak. If you want new technology, you shouldn't shop at Skoda. That being said, I cannot help but think that when people complain about being flashed when the lights are slow to adapt (and this is for all car brands) it often means 1. the lights are badly calibrated or 2. they live in a country where it's not done to drive around with your highbeams on, so you will get the flash even if the system works correctly. If *every* Skoda/VW/insert other carbrand here/ would suffer from slow reaction times, it would be on the evening news.
  21. After going for Superb with xenon SLA I can say my old Octavia with halogen bulbs was rubbish too. You'd hope the Volvo is better. You are comparing a Volvo using a much newer Full Adaptive LED system to a Superb with xenon SLA that is alot older. Apples and oranges.
  22. For starters I'd say try to polish the scratches out by hand like others here suggest. Soft MF cloth with a light cutting compound. When you get a satisfactory result, NEVER EVER touch the trim again...Not even to clean, don't brush it, don't wipe it. It will scratch again. The only way to clean is with air (either compressor or a can of computer cleaner) If you absolutely want to try to remove the trim, here's some info on the center console. The side trim pieces should just pop off. Be aware, see if you can buy a set of plastic trim removal tools, don't use a metal screwdriver or something, you'll end up doing more damage. And also keep in mind, in my experience cars are built once. They are not made to be taken apart and rebuilt again, especially things like trim. The possibility of snapping off a tab so you end up with badly refitted trim pieces, or even worse, rattles and squeeks is there. It can be done, but be careful.
  23. Well I definately do not agree. You said it yourself you have no experience with the system. It's way more then 'just' flashing highbeams. When you have bad road markings and traffic signs like here in Belgium it's very handy to see a bit further. Often I think it helps the car in front of me too by illuminating the road aside to their car aswell as in front of mine. It has nothing to do with laziness, it enhances the experience of driving at night. The SLA system together with the Virtual cockpit in 'night mode' (let me guess, you find that another gizmo?) is a godsend for people who spend alot of time driving at night on unlit or poorly lit roads.
  24. Works fine here...had a good run yesterday where you could really see the sharp cutoff to shield the car in front. Sides were lit up with highbeams. The reaction times are also on point. I was actually flashed the very first time last week, when cresting a hill. First time in 8 months I reckon.
  25. This is by design, it's been that way since it was introduced in the Mk2 Superb. My Mk3 has it too, the frameless interior rear view mirror dims completely though. I know what you mean about the flashing effect, not much you can do about it. I will say when you spend some time at night in a car without any automatic dimming side mirrors, you remember that it could be alot worse!
