  1. Hi Rustynuts I haven't been on here for quite a while now but came across my faulty Columbus during a clear out today. I believe however it is one of the older LCD units and it is is then have noticed in your initial post you may not be able to help. It has the horrible constant reboot loop problem. Was driving along one day happily listening to the radio and also had the sat nav on when it just rebooted whilst driving along. I tried things like reloading the software disc I had but when its starting it doesn't get as far as reading a disc. I took it out and refitted the original Bolero (Columbus was a retrofit) Have included a picture of the unit - is this a model you work on or one of those that you don’t? would be grateful for your view on whether its worth repairing or BER ? My sincere thanks in advance for any advice or guidance you are prepared to give me cheers Bernie
  2. Thanks for the info. I don't have the diagnostic tools and from the info you have given me sounds like it wouldn't make any difference even if I did. will have to live with the bolero for now and maybe time for a new one next year then. Cheers Bernie
  3. Now I think I am starting to jnderstand properly- thank you for your patience. Its annoriginal vw/skoda bletooth kit in my car albeit fitted, along with the columbus after I bought it so not crom the factory. I will look fo the connections you have mentioned and if they are not there will try and find an adapter/loom that will allow me to,connect it all up without splicing anything. I thought I had read somewhere on ths forums that it was only the fairly old Boleros that didnt support the bouetooth mic but the layer ones did. Ut I may have got that completely wrong. Many thanks again for your advice Cheers Bernie
  4. Many thanks - very useful and I will have a look. I guess if i can locate the correct wire i just need to connect them to the corresponding pins on the Bolero ?
  5. Thanks and if I dont have any successn trying to fix it I might come back to you. However as it is now nearly a 5 year old unit its probably not worth spending a lot of money on it. I need to get the CD out of it somehow (have another post where I am hoping someone can help) and the try and reload the firmware. If that doesnt work will look at part exing it for another or new one.
  6. Hi all Looking for some further tips again if possible. My Columbus went belly up on me - just kept re-booting but never getting any further than the splash screen ????. I was going to try reloading the firmware but discovered I still had a CD in the slot. Couldnt eject this as per above it doesnt start up properly. I have now removed the Columbus from the car and put my Bolero back in while I try and get this fixed. My assumption is that I need to open up the Columbus to then somehow get the CD out of it and was wondering if anyine had any tips regarding doing this ? After reading various posts on tuis corum and others I am hoping that if I can get the CD out that I can then wire it back up to the car and reload the firmware which if I am lucky will fix it ! Would be grateful for any tips or advice folks. Thanks in advance Bernie
  7. Many thanks folks - some really us ful info from you all. All i need to try and figure out now is whixh ate the microphone wires. I thought i had seen the connector but now believe the one I saw is the sat nav antenna plug. Will do some exploring unless anyone has any tips on how I identify the micrphone wires ? Genuinely appreciate all the advice you have provided folks. Thanks Bernie
  8. Hi All Am hoping someone can help if possible please - I have searched around but can't find an answer. Until recently I had a Columbus in my 2012 vRS but unfortunately it stopped working. It has the dreaded constant reboot issue. I also have the VW/Skoda bluetooth fitted with the microphone next to the interior light. The Columbus and bluetooth were retrofitted after delivery. I have removed the Columbus to see if I can get it repaired but it won't be until next year now. As an interim measure I have refitted my original Bolero and I believe have connected everything up again but the microphone does not work. I can make and receive calls etc but nobody can hear me. There is a lead that previously went into the back of the Columbus but there is nowhere to connect that (I had assumed that it is the gPS antenna lead but not sure). I have most likely done something completely wrong but can't identify what and would be very grateful for any advice/words of wisdom from any forum member as to what my issue is and how I could go about fixing it ? Hopefully someone will help this poor guy out - it is nearly Christmas after all cheers Folks Bernie
  9. I boight one from my skoda dealer to fit to my MKII vrs petrol - think it cost me about £24 including all the clips and took me about 5 mins to fit
  10. Had my Superskoda shades in the car for a few days now and have to say am very happy with them
  11. I didnt take pics but might get chance tomorrow. I watched this which helped: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=yntOCngC578 Its from superskoda - not an Octavia but the same way of fitting Hope this helps - the only way I can take good pics woild be to take them all out again which I woild rather not
  12. Just fitted my superskoda ones. Clips for the side windows are the same as the OEM ones. Couplt of sticky backed ones to help keep the single rear window in place but at the moment I havent used them as it seems to stay where it should be without them. Generally very happy with them so far
  13. Thanks Brian Makes complete sense to me now. Must have been having a "grey" moment. Really appreciate the help/advice. Thanks Bernie
  14. Have you by any chance got any oics of how to fit the clips ? My superskoda ones arrived today and I cant for the life of me figure out how the clips work amd why goes where Any help would be greatly appreciated
  15. My Superskoda ones arrived today. No fitting instructions though . Looks like the clips have sticky pads on them rather than clip behind the seals. Are yours the same and did you have any problems fitting them/sticky pads nice and secure ?
  16. I was going to buy from Vanstyle but when I emailed them asking if they would fit my car they said they couldnt say for sure so I didnt bother. Used to habe vanstyle ones in a previous car (alfa romeo) and they were great

  19. Thanks for getting back to me so quickly but have now decided againts them - seen some others I like. Over to your 2nd or 3rd dibs
  20. How much would you want dor these posted to Wilts ?
  21. Would be very interested to hear what you think of them before I also order some. Have heard that the rear wondow one can be "saggy" from some but read other posts saying they are great. I have had the vanstyle ones for another make of car before and they were OK so would be keen to hear an opinion/verdict on the ones from Superskoda. Please let us know your thoughts/opinion on these once you get them
  22. Thanks for the quick response Eddie, genuinely appreciated. Will give it a miss this time round then and wait until I can source a MFSW and controller.
