If the wipers are in ‘auto’ mode they don’t wipe when the car is initially turned on for the exact reason you’ve stated. They only start working once in motion. Not on my 16 plate car.

You need an off position. If you didn't on a frosty morning the wipers would try to clear the ice ripping the blades to shreds.
If it is frosty make sure the wipers are off before switching on the ignition to start and de-ice.

Used to happen a lot with my Octy 2s. The remote on the Octy 3 seems to be less susceptible.

The car is trying to maintain heat in the exhaust system in the hope you'll set off and generate enough heat through normal driving to complete the regen.
Most cars don't sit on tickover for long periods (I assume you are in the taxi rank / queue?).
As mentioned if the DPF light hasn't come on then the car is happy enough, ignore it for now.
If you do get the chance though, next time the RPM is high, take it for a 5 minute run at speeds over 40mph and next time you stop the idle should return to normal.
The only thing to add to the final paragraph is: keep the revs above 1500. 40mph in top gear is as helpful for the regen process.

If it is a diesel, the starter motor doesn't engage until the engine management has everything ready like glow plugs heated.

I will probably go for a petrol engine next time. I have moved into town from the country so my short runs are shorter than they used to be. The newer DPF regen processes are much cleverer than the earlier ones but I would not recommend diesels in my situation. I do try to use my bikes when ever possible which helps save the DPF a bit of grief from cold running.

When fully warmed up my oil temperature sits at 90-95. Generally at 90. The oil temperature is a selectable option on the infotainment system. If you haven't set this up I would guess that a minor blip in the system caused to be displayed.

The sill dimensions are determined by the need meet side impact tests. The same applies to increased size of door pillars which restrict view at junctions.

Update you need to have the phone on Bluetooth before you switch on the ignition, if you don't it still may not connect.
My car is 16 plate and doesn't have any of the more advanced options mentioned by colmsmyth or built in satnav.

Recently my phone would not connect to the car hands-free. I had tried a number of options, deleting profiles on the phone and the car etc. All to no avail.
Then I checked the other profiles on my phone and found that my TomTom had been set to handle hands-free. Since most of my journeys are local my satnav generally lives in glovebox. So had not realised that the phone was trying to connect to the satnav.
I altered the TomTom profile by un-ticking the hands-free option.
It's early days but this seems to have solved my problem.

IIRC, it's electric power steering. Mk2 was hydraulic but VAG's moved to electric a few years ago.
Cheapness one feels
Probably related to fuel economy, a hydraulic system will probably consume more power and weigh more than an electric one.

First thing to do is get something under it to catch the coolant, preferably something that will prevent thirsty pets getting to it. Deadly if drunk in even small quantities.
Especially these days as the antifreeze mix is so strong.

I have a removable swan neck towbar. Normally there is no problem if I leave it on, but one time it did show up on the reversing sensors. This was because the towball cover was sitting at an angle. This would suggest the margin is rather small.
-
Did you retain the crashbar? This has to be removed before fitting the towbar. This has to be refitted when the towbar is removed.

I agree the dealer did say it's because of all the start ups moving the cars around the forecourt TBH I put that down to car salesman BS.
When I took delivery of my new 1.6 TDI CR it had 27 miles on the clock and quite soon afterwards it initiated a DPF regen. I put this down to lots of idling while it was being shunted round the Arnold Clark network (it was in the showroom). It has behaved as expected since then now 22k miles and 2 years old. So salesman might be right.

The margin between the towbar causing problems with the reversing sensors and not causing problems is very small.
With my removable towbar if I leave it on it normally does not show up on reversing sensors. One day it did show up on the sensors. I nipped round the back and found that the tow ball cover was sitting at an angle. I straightened the cap and and the reversing sensors cleared.
Before ordering my towbar I did an experiment using a bike track pump as a stand in for the towbar. This showed me how close the margin was.

Eyelets are for fixing the breakaway protection. You have to have the trailer breakaway fixed to the vehicle as tow arm is removable and could theoretically come off in use.

There's no reason why it couldn't display hours per gallon while stationary.
I think my wife's Fiesta switches to gallons/HR when stationery. With stop start technology it is probably not necessary show this figure.

My real tank to tank mpg seems to be around 90% the reading from dash display. So a long run on trunk roads may give a dash reading of 68mpg which equates to a true tank to tank figure of 62mpg.

It would not have been so easy if the snow was drifting. Ground clearance is going to be a limiting factor.
I heard of a Land Rover sticking in a drift and being passed by one of those old Citreons with the lift up suspension.

I think you need to find a specialist 4-wheel alignment centre.

My oil temp read out has stopped since getting a shark remap. Sorry off topic but just noticed since reading this post
Have you checked that the oil temperature display is still selected in the info-tainment system?

I get the warning graphic as soon as any door, boot or bonnet is opened with the ignition switched on, then get the alarm as soon as I drive off.
Maybe the OP should test the boot lid before getting back into the car.
What can happen with me is that sometimes the boot can be in a half way house, not quite properly closed and not quite open. In this situation the is no warning until you have driven off and hit a bump in road. There is a knack to closing the boot properly.

Thats exactly my situation, and if you dont have an opportunity to stop it bongs much worse than any bong coming from passenger seat.
If this is happening regularly it sounds like either you are not closing the boot properly every time or the boot catch needs adjusting. The design of the boot handle is not ideal. To get the boot to close you need build up some downward speed and get your hand out of the way before it closes. I have had 3 different Octavias and this has happened occasionally with each of them.
Car key
in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)

Updated information
A few years ago my key got eaten by a mower (don't ask). Timpson's said if found the chip they could cut a key that would work. Unfortunately even after checking over the very large heap of grass with a metal detector I found only 75% of the key. I didn't find the bit with the chip ( non-metallic).
Looking at the Timpson's web site they seem to be able to provide cloned keys with chips these days. So worth asking.
