Mk4 vRS iV question
Hi all, I am a current mk3 owner and I have the opportunity to go for a company car and after looking through the list there are a range of options anywhere from small low powered hybrids/ petrols and diesels all the way to Audi E Trons etc. I appreciate these will have a different effect on how much I pay based on value emissions etc. But also on the list is the Octavia vRS iV (and Golf GTE)... so as a fan of Skoda and as its one of the cheaper cars on the list, I assume resulting in cheaper tax (especially with it being hybrid) it seems a great choice. However... on videos I have watched of the GTE it appears the power (245ps) is not constant and that when in sport mode etc. If you floor it, the power eventually backs off, like it only gives you 245ps (and equivalent torque) for a short period some sort of temporary boost, whereas my current 245 petrol and any other car gives consistent boost at rated power. Can someone help and clarify as I am not sure I can live with a car where full power is temporary and not constant? Many thanks Matt

Video Clips - My 2019 vRS 245 with OPF fitted with a Milltek Cat Back Non-Res Exhaust
So after a lot of debating I finally bought a Milltek cat back non-res exhaust for my OPF fitted 245. Two videos, one is from behind and the other is a drive by. The sound is perfect for what I was after, it is not antisocial in any way and no real cabin drone... but its certainly loud enough to turn heads and gives a little crackle on the overrun, in my opinion this is what they should sound like standard!

VRS 245 model variants and optional extras
Kenai did an awesome job of explaining the models so I wont add anything there... My two pence worth is that I have a 245 challenge (69 plate) and its awesome, drives beautifully and is loaded with extras above standard, can't complain! Love it.

Cone Filter on 245 vRS....?
Absolutely all about the smiles as I appreciate the minor gains that could be had may only be effective along with a turbo back exhaust/ remap etc. I am considering a remap, however the car is fairly quick as it is, just sounds incredibly boring... not after an antisocial sound as it wont suit the standard look of my car, but want something a bit more than what it gives now!

Cone Filter on 245 vRS....?
Awesome thanks, this is what I'm after, something to add a little more zest - as its a quick and fun car.. you just wouldn't know if you heard it haha. Do you have a link to the filter you had? Makes it easier so I make sure I look at the right one! Many thanks

Cone Filter on 245 vRS....?
Hi all, I'm after a bit more noise from my car, without it being antisocial as it is my family car & I use it for work... so really looking perhaps for some induction noise over exhaust noise... as a start at least and I was wondering if a cone filter will offer some nice induction noise, or if its fairly pointless? I have an after market panel filter at the moment and that offers no gain in noise, so wondering what peoples experience was? Also, does it need mapping in? My old scoobie needed a remap after adding a cone filter, not sure if this engine requires it? + any recommendations on cone filters if people have them would be appreciated! Thanks Matt

Octavia 245 vs Superb 280 Engine Comparison
Very interesting figures... i plan on remapping my 245 early next year when the weather gets a bit better, so for 'fun factor' I'm sure the 245 will slightly surpass the superb, just by the fact its lighter and has a more sport focussed suspension setup. My original question was more around the components as I wondered how strong the 245 was and how far you go with mods until it breaks! But your answer is very useful. Yes i was referring to components I should have been more specific but after all I am asking to understand the tunability of the engine so understanding the remap is also very useful!

Octavia 245 vs Superb 280 Engine Comparison
Hi all, Maybe this has been covered before but I can't find any topics.... what are the differences in the Engines between the Octavia vrs 245 and superb 272/280? I appreciate they are the same block, but what else is different? thanks Matt

OEM Black Geminis
So after buying a VRS Challenge with the 19" Xtreme alloys it became apparent my 18" winter tyres wont fit so I was left in a predicament... do I buy new winter tyres at around £180 per corner, or do I buy a set of 18" alloys to fit my existing winter tyres to. I went with a new set of alloys... as I can sell these for more when I sell the car... so in keeping with the green and black theme I ordered some black Geminis from Skoda direct and I hadn't seen them before so thought I'd post some pics for anyone considering them. They are no where near as nice as the Xtremes, but for a winter set they're perfect.

Questions from a new owner
I second the Travall dog guard, have one for my hatch and its great, attaches to the lugs that hold the seats up, literally held in by the pressure of the rear bench, pic below

Calling on you OPF 245 owners!
Now that’s a very good idea - I’m sure a good exhaust company could make it fit if it’s not direct. I didn’t realise the systems were different. I’ll have a look into this, I know it’s a major ask but if you happen to have a pic of the underneath of yours it would be much appreciated, if not I’ll do some digging for pics online. the 245 with OPF is as silent as my mrs 1.2 litre seat Ibiza, so noise is non existent.

Calling on you OPF 245 owners!
When you say the push of a button... is it coded into the car so in sport mode its louder than in comfort or normal? I don’t want an aftermarket button installed somewhere.

Entertainment system issue...?
I didn’t realise you could do a reset - will try this to see if it happens again after Thanks, yeah I will try to capture it next time on video at least with some evidence the dealers cant brush me away so easily!

Thanks, good to know and I’m in no rush so worth the wait if I can’t find a cheaper alternative!

Entertainment system issue...?
So sometimes when I start my car, the Bluetooth connection never establishes and at the same time the sat nag wont work... to rectify this i have to turn the car off get out lock it and then get back in and it may work... sometimes still doesnt. Really p*sses me off, Its under warranty so I’m guessing i should take it in, but as its intermittent I know it wont happen on the day and they’ll send me on my way without doing anything, so does anyone have any suggestions on how I can reset the system myself... or what the issue may be? Thanks Matt

Calling on you OPF 245 owners!
Ok, so my new 245 challenge is perfect in every way... except the exhaust note (oh and plastic oil sump which is just weird IMO but ignoring that), the exhaust note is non-existent, dont get me wrong the fake noise in sport mode is nice and satisfying but not as nice as a real exhaust note... however I also dont want to be antisocial with a loud exhaust, so not sure on my options considering I have an OPF, so: - What do people recommend for an OPF back exhaust (I know the OPF acts as a sound dampener anyway as the newer 245s by standard are quieter than pre-OPF) - Resonated or non-res considering the OPF also dampens sound? I also don’t wish to pay an arm and a leg, Miltek do an OPF back system but for around 1000 I just can’t bring myself to buying it! Appreciate the help! Thanks

Hatchback pan roof owners I need your help....
That was my concern, I am not sure on their definition of ‘normal roof’, but it doesn’t inspire confidence!

Hatchback pan roof owners I need your help....
Well that’s a goof point but I don’t think it will, my main question is where do the rubber feet sit, will they distribute the load just across the car body, or do they also put pressure on the glass?
