Goodbye vRS TDi... hello 245 challenge!
Thanks for the insight, my car is jack of all trades... my daily/ family car but also my bit of fun for when I’m on my own, so as you say a more expensive system which can be dynamic would definitely be the way forward!

Hatchback pan roof owners I need your help....
I have recently swapped my estate for a hatch and it has a pan roof which is lovely, however I need roof bars and don’t like Škoda’s OEM ones. I was looking at the Thule Evo Wing bar in black however I am not sure if they are ok with a pan roof... I assume they are, but I want to make sure they don’t put pressure on the glass. Thanks Matt

Goodbye vRS TDi... hello 245 challenge!
Thanks! I am just disappointed in the exterior sound so want ever so slightly more noise, nothing anti social and I don’t want to look like a yob in the work car park... but when I accelerate I want people outside to at least hear that its a semi sporty car! I was considering a Miltek resonated OPF back system, but as you say they are upwards of 1k and I can’t find any videos with the resonator... they are all without annoyingly!

Goodbye vRS TDi... hello 245 challenge!
Thanks, I’ll wait till I am bored on this power and then go for a stage 1 i think, did you ever change the exhaust?

Goodbye vRS TDi... hello 245 challenge!
Absolutely, I was waiting for the mk4 but then decided I am better with a mk3 with lots of options for less than a new mk4.... as you say, wait for the gremlins to be uncovered is the best shout!

Goodbye vRS TDi... hello 245 challenge!
Thanks! I have had 2 diesel vRS’s in the Mk3 and one in the Mk2 so I know them well and they are very capable cars which can return semi good fuel economy. I was Impressed at how economical the petrol could be, but ultimately it’ll never beat the diesel... yeah the mk4 looks very nice indeed

Goodbye vRS TDi... hello 245 challenge!
Haha, i was considering a stage 1, I believe I can get around 300hp from the standard turbo? don’t want to push more as the FWD I’m sure will be a bit of a barrier? Exhaust next I think, inside it sounds nice (fake but nice)... but outside it could be any old petrol rubbish! Milltek cat back (or OPF back) I think...

Goodbye vRS TDi... hello 245 challenge!
So after recently remapping my vRS tdi I was still longing for more so I bit the bullet and bought a 69 plate vRS 245 challenge and wow what a car. Anyone who is in a similar predicament, I say do it, bite the bullet and buy one! I had a 4hr drive from the dealership I purchased it from and achieved an average of 39.5 mpg (without trying and without checking it the whole journey) at decent motorway speeds in normal and comfort mode. So knowing I can get nearly 40mpg on a run without trying, suits me to the ground. Of course around town its awful especially with a lead right foot. Things I love about the car: - The power - anyone who says a remapped tdi is as quick as a petrol is completely lying, maybe a stage 2 diesel with a bigger turbo, but even then it’d be close - Pan roof - never had one before and it is lovely - Heated front/ rear and steering wheel - Virtual cockpit, easily the best bit about the car never realised how powerful it could be - Rear USB ports, essential if you have kids! Things I dislike: - The entertainment system can sometimes be slow (old car was the same) and the reversing camera sometimes stays on for a while after driving off - The fact the drive mode selector always defaults back to ‘normal’, this is annoying. My old 2018 diesel remembered my driving mode Anyway... got a lot of love for the vRS tdi (i have owned 2 of them), but for now the 245 is ticking all of the boxes! The most annoying part of all of this however... is Hatch Bag do not do a boot liner for the Octavia Hatch with canton and I can’t find a company who do as nice Custom fitting boot liners which is a real ****er! - Matt

Arbury Skoda - Leamington Spa..
So I am a volunteer driver for the NHS, part of a Warwickshire group called 4x4 volunteers as we usually assist during snow and floods moving patients and nurses, however our services have been needed during Covid. So I was dropping a nurse off in leamington when my ‘check engine oil’ light came on... never a good thing. Luckily I was just at the nurses house which happens to be 30 seconds from the Skoda dealership. Knowing I have a service plan with Skoda and having no other options I got to the dealership and checked the oil (dipstick was showing just on the bottom), again never a good thing... So I went in as as its a Sunday there was only 2 salesmen working, with no access to the service stock room. However after explaining my predicament the sales man noticed oil sat on a self ‘advertising’ the oil and we checked that it was right for my car and after sussing out it is absolutely the right oil, he gave it to me free of charge and helped me fill my car and then off I went. This may have been just a nice good will gesture from the salesman, however this is exactly the kind of service that makes you go back... so next time I want a new Skoda I’ll be heading to leamington as it thoroughly impressed me... albeit a small ish gesture! Anyway.. thought I’d share!

The Mk3 Octavia TDI water pump thread
2017 is worrying... is yours a facelift model?

octavia vrs 2019 towbar
Yep, my local Skoda stealership quoted me £995 for a detachable one to be fitted and coded into the car (I don’t have the wiring prep, so it included that).

Dpf regen 3x more often.
I see... ok thanks probably has happened a few times then and I haven’t noticed!

Dpf regen 3x more often.
This may sound like a really stupid question... however how do you know that your DPF is regening (without connecting to the OBD with an app or scanner)? I have owned 2 mk3 Octavia vRS’s and never noticed it happen? Perhaps thats down to my right foot made of lead and frequent long journeys, again with the foot down.... but I would have thought I’d have noticed at least once? Thanks Matt

Haldex Pump filter blocked.
Here’s mine on exactly 20k (18 plate 4x4 Octavia vRS). I will 100% be doing this every 10k miles, for the £100 its entirely worth it considering at 20k its completely clogged up!

VRS Worth Buying?
I hope you are right with the 206kw in the Kodiaq! Does anyone know when these details will be announced?
-
VRS Worth Buying?
It’s just annoying as the Kodiaq and Tiguan are different vehicles, yet Cupra can keep the Ateca... p*sses me off !! Lets see what Skoda announce - hopefully not the heavy PHEV
