  1. Last thing was that the...

    Reverse mirror tilt:

    52 - Door Elect, Pass.

    Long Coding

    Byte 4

    If the byte has value 40 (cars without electrically folding mirrors)

    change it to 4C

    Well I can't see any coding on this module, its all blank says module coding unknown or something like that.

    I did find

    09 - Cent Elec

    Coding

    Long Coding

    Byte 4

    Bit 3 (Mirror Lowering with Reverse Rear)

    This enables an option(checkbox) on the maxidot for enabling lowering of the mirror.

    Did this but its not working.

    Have the mirror adjustment knob on the passenger side too as its needed on some other models, again didn't work.

    I also remember on some other models that the position has to be set up? Anyone any ideas?

    Did this mod yesterday on my new Yeti and it worked. I want to stress that I don’t have electric seats. But it did take me time to enable this mod because many conditions have to be met for it to work:

    - Passenger door coding (52 - Door Elect, Pass.) must be changed: lower eight bits of Byte 4 must be set to hexadecimal C (or 4 in some cases), in my case I had to change byte 4 from 50 to 5C;

    - 09 - Cent Elec coding must also be changed as mentioned in the quote;

    - after that, it is essential to go into Settings in Maxidot and tick the mark against “Mirror down” in the Convenience settings;

    - then do not forget to set the mirror adjustment knob to “L” or “R” (the opposite to the side on which the steering wheel is).

    Only when all the above is met will the passenger mirror tilt after engaging reverse gear.

  2. Most of the EA888 engines manufactured until circa October-November 2011 have this thirst for oil. It is a design issue. VW wanted to make an engine that would burn as little oil as possible. So they employed very thin piston rings, but that made the rings overloaded and led to the opposite of what they had hoped for. After several revisions of pistons and piston rings, they ended up with more or less classical design. And as far as I know, Skoda customers were not the ones that suffered most. These engines come from Audi, so Audi customers were the first to make this unpleasant discovery.

  3. I have managed to enable switching off ESP on a 2016 model year Yeti with a 1K0 907 379 CB ABS module. It has 20 bytes long coding instead of 19 bytes for the previous ABS modules. For such a module the last byte is responsible for controlling the behavior of the ASR OFF button (or whatever the button with a car leaving zigzag traces is called). In my case the original coding was 91 3F 40 0E 09 22 01 FC 89 12 02 EC 90 22 80 49 A0 00 00 23. To enable switching ESP off I had to set bits 6 and 4 in the last byte to 1 giving the 91 3F 40 0E 09 22 01 FC 89 12 02 EC 90 22 80 49 A0 00 00 73 coding (bit values in the last byte are 01110011). Setting only the bit 6 results in switching ESP to a “sports mode” on a short press and disabling it completely on a long one. Setting only bit 4 results in an invalid coding.
    Thanks to LasseTheDude for discovering this.

  4. A new scientific study has found that those who are receptive to pseudo-profound, intellectual-sounding 'bulls***' are less intelligent, less reflective, and more likely to be believe in conspiracy theories, the paranormal and alternative medicine.

    They also scientifically define the concept of BS there :D

  5. Just a quick question, our Zafira has Climate Control. Does it affect these as well? I kind of assumed it's only cars with 'manual' fan speed adjustment?

    As far as I am aware, climate control systems usually use pulse-width modulation to control blower motor speed - quite different from "manual" ones which use resistors. So they are less likely to cause fire. But they can be affected too, if the motor is the deficient part.

  6. Good for them never the less it still hasn't told us much.

    Why, the report has debunked all the nonsense put forward by the Kremlin, including versions of a Su-25 attack and others. There are two appendices which address exactly this: http://www.rferl.org/content/mh17-dutch-investigators-russian-alternative-theories-rebuffed/27304720.html

    And even more curious. From the report it follows that Almaz-Antey (the producer of Buk) has provided results of their own simulations to the international commission which AGREE with what the commission has found. But at the same time those results contradict what Almaz-Antey stated no earlier than yesterday at a press conference in Russia. Apparently, they say different things to the commission and to the public.

  7. Russia's Syrian vacation is mostly for Putin to build his own popularity at home (not here  - lol)

    Don't be so sure. Putin spends billions of roubles annually on propaganda agencies like RT, targeting foreign audience. And I personally see signs on this forum of that propaganda hitting the target.
  8. He doesn't need to. Taxpayers do it for him. And this:

    so it doesn't matter how rich you are, if you can be arrested, put in jail and have your money taken away, the guy who can do that to you is the most powerful person in Russia.

    also applies to himself. That's why he is not going to leave power of his own free will (and will advocate every dictator in a similar situation).
