  1. Done 20,000 in 3.1/2 years-- still running in...... ☺️
  2. We have a 16 plate L&K superb it has adblu--top it up once a year at Chester services 71p a Ltr--go in the evening to avoid the h.g.v.s filling up---they have big tanks.....
  3. Hi, Having had a " brush" with the local lump of rock up in the mountains i now have a small amount of damage to the wheel rim . Thing is i used our local refurbisher for our last car , sufice to say i would not use him to do our wheelbarrow ! So any recommendations for the Merseyside area ( preff the Wirral ) ......
  4. Hi, Yes you are correct, the dealer at first said it could not be done --- its a factory fit job. However when i posted on here a number of members pointed out that A) its listed in the " add ons " by Skoda & a number of them had it done. I recontacted my dealer who looked into it & they said yes it was possible. I ordered it ( had to pay up front ) the dealer arranged with a VW dealer to get it calibrated as they could not justify the cost of the equipment for what might well be a " one off" They fitted it only to find that the VW dealer was telling " porkies"--- they didn't have the calibration equipment ! To be honest i haven't noticed any problem --- reverse till the red line is on the object behind you & you are 10" away. Advantages, 1) can reverse up to our ( caravan ) tow bar-- no yelling & shouting ( see below for drawback ) 2) it has three settings , the above ( normal ) plus wide angle for reversing out from between two large objects. & a strait down view for coupling up. Drawback,- If the sun is shining ( does sometimes ! ) from the front of the car towards the back the tow bar/coupling are in shadow & look like a black "lump" ( believe camera is a 2M.P. one ) you have to look close to make out whats what. Cost ,- this is the strange bit-- cost the same as it being fitted on the production line ! All in - £ 300 ( early 2017 ) Had to wait for it ( the camera kit ) to come from the factory. ( seem to remember took a week ) Assessment,-- Great ! no regrets ( other than the poor definition ) david
  5. Yep, i filled ours at Chester services, BUt i learnt the hard way --- go in the evening ! H.G.V.'s have large Adblu tanks & i was stuck behind two of them ! the T.V. came in useful while waiting.....................
  6. Well contacted my dealer-- they are still looking for the equipment to calibrate the camera --- they are not ready ( yet ) to admit defeat !
  7. Thanks Enriquez -- dealer trying to find this equipment but if as you say its not imperative & the camera works fine without it so be it BUT the car shows a fault every time its hooked up to diagnostic gear................
  8. As far as i know we dont have any of this in the U.K. ---envious - just the thing for the M6 &M25 !!
  9. hi, I have been towing for near on 40 years ( started with an Austin Maxi..... ) so my 10p worth having read all the posts ,- The Lunar is a light van for its size ( we had two Lunars ) so can get blown around & bounce around more. You put things under the bed to get the weight distribution right= pendulum effect ? ( what suits one car ect ) Years ago we had an Avondale Osprey towing on the M6 anything above 45 mph & the van started "wagging" the wardrobe is right at the back & i had put two suitcase solar panels in there. Removed them & hey presto -- can tow at 60mph no bother ! We have the L&K & i like others found the normal steering too light & "twitchy" so my DCC set is --- steering -- sport. engine/gears- normal. suspension ,-- normal .We do all year round rallies & are about to head north staying at T.H.S's our caravan - Coachman 520/4 Max weight 1,500 Kg ( been replated by makers ) shipping length - 24Ft11 inches, We have had no problems stability wise . we carry a bathroom scale ( plus wood bits ) & check the nose weight before starting off. One thing when comparing cars -- the distance between the center line of the back axle to the tow ball ( I.E. " overhang " ) could be different...... Stabilizer- the perceived wisdom is the outfit should be stable WITHOUT a stabilizer, stabilizer should not be used to achieve this . A lighter note-- We were leaving a rally ,it had been raining & the entrance/exit was churned up mud. The chairman with his Disco was pulling people off the field. when our turn came to leave he offered to pull us off, Me -thanks think we will manage . We got going pulled off and as we drove away i called over to him -its a ( soft ) 4x4 ! his face........... So , keep experimenting :-)
  10. Hi, Well if there's a link to a template i never found it ! went out to the caravan yesterday ( its in storage ) tried backing up with the appropriate view on the screen, worked a treat ! only one problem-- it was very sunny & the back of the car was in a shadow-- found it hard to see the ball hitch. Since the camera appears to be 0.o3 m.p. not so surprised. Was it worth it ? ( cost £438.00 ) ask me in a months time................. P.S.- the camera was at time of purchase of the car listed as £ 300 factory fitted )
  11. Thanks Enriquez for your most comprehensive reply ! I must admit i thought it was a sophisticated computer we were talking about --- member of staff ( at dealers ) certainly gave me that impression talking about cost Ect. So once again Enriquez - thanks for your time & trouble, i have forwarded the information on to the dealer. I have been searching ( with no luck so far ) for the site mentioned above regarding the template. I will give it another go ( computers are not my "thing" ) i i dont return send out the search party................ David
  12. Hi, I have just had a reversing camera retro fitted to our L&K Superb. The dealer informs me that a special piece of equipment is required to calibrate the car/camera. No idea what this " special equipment " is & just how many dealers have it ( they have been let down by another V.A.G. dealer ). So any thoughts/ suggestions ? (camera is installed & working -- so far impressed but car shows a " fault " when interrogated )
  13. Hmm, I use to drive down one way streets the wrong way ,likewise go around roundabouts the wrong way ,exceed the speed limit, park wherever reqired, cross traffic lights on red, i was ( or rather the appliance was ) up to 40 ft long & 9.6" wide weighed up to 17 tons........................
  14. Hi Vic, Yep i noted the warning too but they have been used by members on here with no mention of problems , indeed i have used them a number of times in conjunction with PayPal. The only thing i have noticed-- prices creeping up ,must be Brexit.................
