  1. I haven't actually got it yet, so no chickens are being counted
  2. Never have I been happy to read the words 'arrived in Grimsby' as I was today I was actually sad enough to look at the 'ship tracker' mentioned on another thread and I saw on of the 'highway' car carriers heading into Grimsby so I kind of hoped my car would be on it. Now just needs picking up, depositing in Sheffield and PDI'ing. At this rate I'll be < 6 weeks from order to delivery.
  3. Hard to know what's happening post Jan 1. On the plus side most of us who ordered in Aug were told 12 weeks and it's looking closer to 8-10.
  4. I'm not sure what causes the randomness. If mine turns up - say - second week in October that'll be 4 weeks before the dealer 'expected' and 8 weeks before the 'latest handover data' on the order. Did yours have lots of special options? Oh mines a confirmed MY21 car. USB C works for me so I'm happy with that. (although sad to be losing the torch)
  5. Back on the original topic, I called Skoda for an update as I'd not heard from my dealer if the car had changed status (build week was scheduled for last week). Apparently it's now waiting for shipping. So I guess it was Assuming 4 weeks, then it'll be exactly 8 weeks from order. Without wishing to re-ignite ^^ discussion, I asked the dealer what would happen Jan 1 and he said he had no idea and they were waiting for advice from Skoda UK. As it won't be long before orders taken will fall into '21 delivery. He was pretty worried about it both in terms of potential confusion and unhappy customers.
  6. My Dealer (Rainsworth Skoka) called me today to tell me mine is 'Status 20' with a build week of next week. I only ordered in two weeks ago. Expected delivery would be 3rd of 4th week in October. So around 8 weeks from order. Could still all go horribly wrong of course but I'm very happy with those dates. That's for a 1.5 TSI DSG SE-L. Options; towbar, leather, virtual cockpit and speed warning.
  7. That’s useful to know, thanks. I’m sure I’ve done it a few times on other cars! A set of 17inch steels then.
  8. I was a bit concerned when my SEL 1.5 order showed 19in wheels. I have 19in runflats on my current 520 touring (SE not M-Sport) and they are harsh! Especially around here (Herefordshire) where the roads are a crumbling mess. So reassured by reading this thread. I am considering a set of 'winter fronts' (mine arrives end Nov) and assume the 19s will cost more than the 18s.
  9. When I ordered mine (same engine/DSG), I was told a non factory tow bar (without the engine change, I think they told me it was the oil cooler?) would invalidate the warranty. I did push back a bit because I'm only ever 'towing' my MTB trailer which just hooks onto the tow bar and isn't heavy. But they were adamant I had to pay the £885 for the Skoda fitted option.
  10. Oops. Yes. Otherwise that would be a heck a delivery date
  11. I was told 12 weeks for a 1.5TSI DSG. That was ordered last week. I did ask a couple of times if that was still valid. Assured that it was. We shall see! update; just checked the order paperwork and it has 'Committed handover date 28/11/21' which is a bit more than 12 weeks but at least it's this year!
  12. Well I've finished dithering and decided to buy one. Had a bit of a CARWOW scramble for the order, but ended up going with Merlinman's recommendation (as they were the cheapest and the easiest to deal with). So that'll be Rainworth Skoda then. My local dealer couldn't get close. Just 12 weeks to wait. Which would be fine had BMW not decided they'd REALLY like to buy my 5 series next week....
  13. I'd rather wait for full electric. Problems I've found with PHEVs are - they are significantly more expensive - the models I want aren't going to be available until at least mid next year - there are no prices for those but again I expect expensive My view is this is a fast changing technology so waiting a couple of years will put us in a better position.
  14. I've not been on this site for a few years since handing back my Yeti in favour of a BMW 520 touring. I've come back to my senses now and decided on another Skoda (having had two Yeti's and my wife has a Fabia). I REALLY wanted to get a PHEV this time round but the timing isn't going to work. With my milage shrinking to < 10,000 miles per year (post Covid), I *think* my best option is: - SEL 1.5 TSI DSG - VIrtual cockpit - Factory fitted towbar - Leather - Traffic sign I need the towbar as my mountain bikes generally live on a rack. I like the virtual cockpit having seen it first in an audi and it's not stupid money, nor is the full leather upgrade. The test drive felt like 'coming home'. I've missed the higher driving position and I'd forgotten how good the build quality/materials is. There are some (very) attractive offers on a new order even if it means waiting a few months. However I'm still having a bit of a pre-order dither, specifically: - Both our 'local' towns are 5 miles away so a PHEV makes so much sense. - Also I can buy the PHEV as a company car (it's just our small company) and that's financially a bit of a better option - The facelift coming next year, am I going to wish I'd waited (esp if it comes with at least mild hybrid) On PCP, I know after a couple of years I can probably trade for something else. That's my mitigation waiting for Skoda to catch up with my requirements. We did look at a Passat GTE but came to the conclusion it was too big/too expensive for what we need now. Anyway before I get buyers remorse, any advice here would be fab.
  15. I like the auto fold on the mirrors. It's better than using the one on the mirror adjust. As I keep forgetting to fold them back out again! For some reason the curtain or whatever it's called on the panoramic sunroof auto closes. No idea why. I'm sure I can turn it off somewhere.
  16. I think flappy paddles would just be another thing for me to operate incorrectly I use my tow bar for the bike carrier once or twice a week so it's too much of a faff to remove. Changed my sig..ta.
  17. The New Eric by Alex Leigh, on Flickr Which replaced my '12 2.0-110D. Both 2WD. New one was ordered with everything I wanted/missed off my old Yeti. I dithered for ages over the 140 4x4D or the 105 TSi as I wanted DSG and couldn't get that in the 110-D which was a fantastic car. So 1000 miles in, here are some thoughts Good - DSG box is fab. It makes the best use of a smallish engine pushing quite a heavy, boxy car. I sat in a 40 min traffic jam and suffered not at all from 'sowing machine leg' I used to get in the old manual. Cruise is really usable now, just let the 'box do its stuff. - Sport mode is amusing. Hard to believe it's only 105PS, it really gets quite a lively lick on and throws the next gear at you. Fun. - Leather seats are definitely more comfortable, just seem a nicer place to sit - Xenon lights are bonkers. It's like a nightsun. I'll never get bored of the start up sequence either - It's fine 4 up/on the motorway/etc. Not as grunt-y as the old D but not the gear changing nightmare I sort of expected - I like the 'auto' setting for lights/wipers etc. Heated windscreen been used once, but a worthwhile option. - Updated Satnav/Media is definitely an upgrade. DAB radio is fab, use this a lot. - Tyre pressure sensors - seems a little thing but picked up a nail in the first week and probably wouldn't have noticed until it was really low. Stuff that's not so good - Fuel Economy - as expected really, currently doing about 35, managed 41 on a long easy motorway run. I don't expect it'll improve much but with petrol being 10% cheaper than diesel, there's not much in it. - It's a bit wooly around 40/50 when it's trundling along in 7th and you need to give it a boot to get a move on. Just takes a bit of getting used too. - Metallic gray shows the dirt EVEN WORSE than my old white one! - Detachable towbar? I mean why? I'm never going to detach it. Just seems like a solution looking for a problem. Really enjoy getting in and driving it. It's loosened up a lot already. Since I've got it for 3 years (HP), I'm happy I stuck to my guns and went with the petrol. I was a passenger in my mates 320D the other day. It's a lovely car, it really is super smooth and full of toys, but it just left me cold. I'm just love the YetI!
  18. So as this is the thread that keeps giving... I put my 'old' 110d SE+ on gumtree not expecting much in the way of desperate lovers of previously enjoyed yeti's to batter at my door throwing handfuls of cash through the letterbox. Mainly because we don't have a letterbox. A total of two people responded in 48 hours. First bloke turned up with his 18 year old lad, had a 2 minute (I kid you not) look round, started it, didn't open the bonnet, didn't check the VIN, didn't even open the service manual, asked about a discount, didn't get one of those either before opening up his virtual wallet and he was away with my old car less than 30 mins after he arrived. Since he turned up in an 2010 110D I was quite looking forward to a chat.... Anyway it's gone. Paid for and soon to be driven by his 21 year old daughter. Blimey times have changed since my first car. I stuck in on at 300 under book value and got that no problem. Residuals eh? Makes me wonder why I've leased the new one. Which is lovely by the way
  19. Er not checked Urrell but I didn't see it when I was changing the temps and I definitely notice it on my old Yeti, so sounds like that's not working. Can't say I'm too concerned tho.
  20. Hardware HD5 Software 0136 So some correlation there. Surely then the 'update' is just to the latest version. It's not like Skoda have to write a new patch for a bug....
  21. I wrote some things on the 'purchasing experience' : http://pickled-hedgehog.com/?p=3339
  22. Sorry been busy elsewhere. Will check the Software number tomorrow. No idea if you can turn it off. Having read most of the manual this evening, it's pretty customisable but I don't remember seeing that option,
  23. Right version info from the satnav returns 3V0051236A 0335 ECEV2015 I didn't do the full system info, can do if required. Looks the same as Urrell's from a quick glance. Was week 6 2015 when mine was built.
  24. My new one looks the same as that one up there ^^^^. And it works fine with MaxiDot. If you want, I can get the software version. Mine's an elegance rathe than an L&K if that makes a difference. I use the maxi dot a lot when I don't want to glance sideways, so I'd be a bit cheesed off if it didn't work!
  25. The New Eric by Alex Leigh, on Flickr No Dilemma's anymore. It's finally here. Amusingly I was half way home before finding more lost things. First the SD card for the SatNav was still in a drawer somewhere at the dealers, and in my haste to be off I'd forgotten to ask how to find/fit/be confused by the towbar All sorted now. That DSG is simply magic. The new 'entertainment system' is a bit bewildering but I found where Test Match special is and, in an unexpected bonus, a DAB station playing just 80s rock. I couldn't be happier I even quite like the colour. It's 95% the same as our MX5. So I must have liked it before as well. Old one is being properly cleaned and punted out for sale. Dealer offered me quite a decent price so if it doesn't go in two weeks, they can have it. I even filled this one with Petrol having had diesel cars for the last 10 years. Hope that memory abides
