  1. Well just having a remap is fine for light to light racing as its just about acceleration, but the braking capabilities are essential for safety! Imagine a ferrari 458 running 312mm.. you wouldn't be able to stop. My 312mm upgrade with racing fluid and mintex m1144 and Vredestein Ultrac Sessenta tyres mean you will stop so much faster. And as the for suspension.. its all about the control of the car of the road/track. If your upping the power and flying around corners then you need to be able to handle that with the car..

    no one mentioned track use in any of there comments. in regards to the ferrari im sorry but that comment is *******s . in road use there is most likely only 150kg difference in weight between the 458 and a skoda octavia which these brakes come from and the octavia has no problems with stopping so a 458 for road use would be absolutely fine and does not actually need ceramic brakes on the road .

    most of the high powered cars are built around a track so of course they need ceramic brakes and better suspension to deal with flying round corners . but i can guarantee maybe only 10% at the most , of cars on this owners club have ever seen a track .

  2. im interested in either the 6 or 8 paddle kit . im only running a shark remap and im not looking to get any more power out of the car so i really dont want the chatter and sound from the smf. so could you possibly give me a price for just the clutch kit without the smf please .

  3. my clutch and duel mass is on its way out so guess its time to start thinking about what to get to replace it

    i have been looking at the standard luk and sachs kits and i can pick them up for 360 at my local parts trader.

    my car has a shark map on so is running more torque then a standard vrs so i am thinking of maybe having a standard luk dm flywheel and having an uprated clutch ?

    what are peoples opinions or should i just stick with a standard item ?

  4. im going to start saving up soon to start buying bits to convert the engine so it is running the bigger 150 pd garret turbo.

    my questions are is it possible to run the standard intercooler or is a front mount one needed ?

    what parts do i need to complete the full conversion?

    im only aiming for 200bhp and i want a low smoke map is this possible ?

    i will be installing a brand new standard clutch and dmf will these be able to handle the torque without slipping too much ?

  5. My turbo is now really starting to annoy me . My car is a mk1 vrs 130 that has been mapped by shark

    I bought the car about 3 months ago from some one on this forum . I never noticed the sound until a month down the line .

    When I start the car there is no noise until I give it a little tap on the throttle so the turbo powers up when I then let it return to idle it sounds like a whinning noise with a little whistle in it. Also when putting my foot down when driving there is a strange whistling/whinning noise . Is this normal or does it sound As if the turbo has something wrong with it ? My car does not smoke at all so I guess there are no boost leaks although the car does seem to of lost some power although I can not put my thumb on it .

    What would you do to diagnose the problem is there any test I can do ?

  6. Isnt that just condensation build up within the oil system ? It doesn't always mean the head gasket has gone why don't you buy the coolest tester that takes a sample from the coolant and says if it has gone or not ?

    I am no mechanic so all that paragraph may be wrong but it is what I think lol

  7. I sealed my back doors up with some sealant about a month ago and my carpets are now dry

    I have started to notice though that my windows seem to steam up a lot when the car is stood . Does any one else have this problem since sealing up the back doors and is there any way of stopping this happen

    I have checked the front footwells and they both seem to be a little bit wet at the top how has water got there ? I park on a hill facing upwards could this help with letting the water in ?

  8. i used to have the tmc tuning box on my abarth 500 and mine malfunctioned causing it to go into limp mode because it was not sending the signals out correctly .

    tmc are extremely helpful and i posted mine off on the monday and received it back on the thursday reprogrammed and i also had the postage cost refunded :)

  9. i ordered the part from tps and it only took me 30 mins to fit but i did encounter a problem when it was fitted the mechanism seemed to get stuck and would not operate but after some swearing and a couple of alterations it is now working perfectly :) cheers for the help guys

  10. just got in from driving home and about 5 mins from home my glow plug light started flashing . i pulled over and restarted the car but it still continued . Also the rear brake lights are now permanently on is this related to the glow plug warning light ? thankyou

    i have splugged my code reader in and it does not bring up any fault codes ?

  11. For the oil, more important than viscosity is that it meets or exceeds the correct standard for PD engines. As fro the brakes, are you happy with the setup at the moment? If so, just get good quality OE pads and disks to fit.

    This oil I have got is Millers XF LONG LIFE 5w30 and it is down on the second list on the link so I guess it is well suited for the job ?

    And yes the brakes at the minute are very good so I guess just replacing them with a standard disc and pads will be adequate was just wondering if any one try's other setups cheers

  12. i am going to be changing all the discs and pads on my vrs and i can't decide what to go for . the front brakes are 312mm from an audi tt and the rears are standard i was thinking maybe these for the front

    or should i just go for standard mintex discs and pads all round and save myself bait of money ? cheers

    what oil is best for the pd engine i have found out from many retailers that they advise 5w30 and also on my dads car data base at work it tells me the same but when i have read some comments on this website people have chosen 5w40 so what should i do ? cheers

  13. I have owned my fabia vrs for just over a week and I am loving every minute of it . But the one thing that I have noticed is that under acceleration the dash seems to make a vibrating noise and also when I start the car up the engine seems to rock a little so am I right in thinking maybe it is the engine mounts ? Cheers

  14. I'm trying to get hold of a fold out drinks holder for my fabia

    I know there is one that fits in down the side of the radio area where there is a blank strip I just need to know which car it originally comes off so I can get it

    If I can not source one of these I will have to have the twin one that goes under the radio my only question is will one fit in underneath an aftermarket single din cd player ?

    Any help is very much appreciated cheers
