  1. I'll leave this here and post again under a more relevant or new topic if needed. Yes I remember using gps coordinates on the old Columbus. To be useful this GPS would be functional when I am in areas with no phone data signal. As I can't get online to find a nearest house number or GPS coordinate I'll just settle for hammering in the city name and drive until I have signal and then resume navigation via Android Auto. I'm hoping the update to 0253 will have resolved some android auto connection issues - to be fair likely caused by the Ottocast Mini Pico. If it has aside from car setup I'm seeing very little value in any Amendsun to Columbus retrofit. Edit: Yes, I do generally have an A to Z in the car but that isn't great at a street level.
  2. House numbers are all well and good for residential but often useless for business - especially so smaller or newer ones that are unlikely to be on the POI list. I've found some advise that you can do postcode via the city entry. Yet to try as I was wrestling with the ottocast adaptor that is refusing to update!
  3. Everyone learns from someplace. Where is a good place to read up on this?
  4. I've just hit up against this too. My cars system had not been updated at all from factory. It was on version 0245 and I have updated to 0253. I was hoping to get postcode navigation search in the update as I had on my mk2 Superb nearly 4 years ago. Will finding out more about how to force this update give me postcode navigation, or am I missing a trick?
  5. I'm having similar issues with this device. The ebay sale describes the unit as CA525-T2, I think this is an Ottocast Mini Pico. My phone is a Samsung A55, soon to swap to A57. I suspect an Otto firmware update may help, but following the instructions of connecting the phone to it's wifi network means the phone stops using cellular for Data - so where should the Otto get the firmware from? Second issue I have is that the USB socket is always on. Therefore the device stays connected with my phone throwing up connecting to Android Auto messages outside the car. Finally the wired connection for Android Auto sometimes needs two tries to connect. I guess this means a firmware update for my car maybe in order. I will search this forum for a guide but feel free to throw me links if you have them!
  6. Thanks for the conformation. I was driving back home after the first day with the car, waiting to see when the lights come on. Had it in my mind that I thought I had seen you could adjust when the lights come on. Then after noticing some others had lights on I forced them on and back to auto and realised from the driving seat there's not much hints the lights have indeed come on.
  7. I've just had a look through the user manual and sure enough no side/position or dipped warning lights. So just assume it's put lights on if screen goes dark? Not always obvious from driving seat after all. I wasn't a fan of my wifes car not having a dipped beam symbol! Now the parking/side/position lights indicator way down by my knee is all I have. I guess this is a dark dash thing. Make problems more obvious.
  8. Morning all An odd one for you - or perhaps just me - I can't see any symbols on my dash to confirm the auto headlights have come on? I thought it would be odd for these to be hidden away on a maxidot screen? Bought my car yesterday and thought auto lights had taken a while to come on. Realised nav screen had gone dark. Tested manually putting lights on and still no symbols on dash? 2016 2.0 SE Business Estate
  9. Thanks very much for the input all. I considered it carefully and decided the budget wouldn't stretch far enough for a reasonable chance at a fair DSG equiped Superb. I've took a 2.0 TDI SE Business out for a test drive today and put a deposit down within five minutes of getting back. Happy with my decision.
  10. The vehicle will be used for a mix of short hops and longer journeys. I'm scraping the bottom of the barrel of the second hand market, and already added about £2k to get us off looking at the absolute cheapest. No petrols showing up in our price range. Read around after a search on DSG hear and I think I will have to avoid them at this price point. I fuxed serious issues with the manual box on my mk2 with change from £1k at an independant and granted about 6 yers ago. That looks like pocket change for DSG issues!
  11. A 1.6 7 dsp has just come up on the radar. Looking for smooth shifting and feeling like a halfway between slush box nd manual? I realise that is vague!
  12. I'm sure it's obvious when it happens but what are the warning signs a the DSG boxes are starting to miss behave? I've only ever owned manuals. The last autoboxes I drove would have been slush boxes on a land rover ~10 years ago or hire cars abroad a similar time! I've heard they can be a bit awkward/lumpy in low speed traffic as they struggle topick a gear but I believe that's just an auto thing rather than a fault.
  13. Morning all. Previous Superb owner, had to replace it cheaply when that failed at 270k miles. Now looking at ~2016 mk3 estates following a forced camber adjustment by a fellow road user on my rear passenger side wheel of my CMax! What are the main things to check for on the service history for the 1.6 and 2l diesels? I have seen DSGs should have oil changes every 40k miles. Water pump and cam belts at? Anything to specifically test for on an inspection/test drive past the usuals? Thanks for reading! Looking forward to getting a bigger car back, missed it. Would have rather have done it on my own terms though!
  14. Hi all, What are the likely candidates for the car failing to control cabin temp? It can do full cool, or full heat and AC works fine. Temperature sensor? Where is it? Easy to test, or a ~£30 suck it and see? Thanks.
