  1. I'll probably just aim to get the stock skoda ones - maybe find someone to swap my alloys with.
  2. Thanks. I don't want to get any usual tyre size that will be hard to fix in an emergency.
  3. I have just bought an SE L. 5 years old. I believe it has 17" alloys. I wondered if anyone has gone down a size to 16" which is what I believe Scala come with on the SE trim. Do it make a difference to road noise and/or fuel efficiency? Can we only change the size or if we get new alloys can we change anything else about the tyre to make it more comfortable?
  4. I think the key to it is you put the clip onto the ball first (the long arm is off) - you then force the long arm in using its leverage to push the clip down and squeeze the long arm in. I think I was trying it the other way round by trying to push the clip in when the logn amr was connected
  5. Just to add - this is what it looks like The way I could do it is put the open part in first and then use a screwdriver to stretch the other part over. Its easier said than done in situ in the car though. ImgBBPXL-20251102-140038679 hosted at ImgBBImage PXL-20251102-140038679 hosted on ImgBB
  6. Update So I rang my local independent Skoda mechanic and they ordered the parts in for me - they came the same day and are about £5 each. The drivers side is 5J0.955.325 Passenger side is 5J0.955.326 ======== There are YouTube videos on disassembly but on my 2010 Fabia it was as follow. Lift the caps off the wipes with a flathead scredriver. Use a socket set or spanner to undo a nut on each washer to disconnect- remember which is left/right. Open the bonnet and just above the bonnet there are 2 plastic nut type things - use a spanner to undo them - they are just just 'nut heads' - when you undo them the bolt part is stuck to the car if that makes sense. On other cars I have seen different screw systems being used. Life up the black casing which is between the windscreen and bonnet. Under that is the linkage mechanism. The windscreen washer pipes are under the black casing. I left mine connected and just left the casing on the engine. If you shut the bonnet you can get slightly better access to work on the linkage mechanism but that black casing will be in the way unless you disconnect the washer wires so you can fully remove it and shut the bonnet totally. In my case I just left it on the engine and shut the bonnet on top. Note - you can put your wipers on if you need to get the mechanism to move into an easier to access configuration. ========== I put them the new linkages in and they worked fine for just under 4 weeks but on the drive home last Friday the drivers one went again. On inspection I I can see the rubber bit that holds the metal ball has worn out! So I ordered those clips as per my OP. They are similar to the ones on Amazon but just designed slightly different. I couldn't fit them in situ so I undid the 2 bolts on the wiper mechanism thingy (either side) and then 4 torx screws to disconnect the motor. I was able to take the mechanism out without taking the motor out of the car itself and I didn't need to disconnect the motor wiring. I managed to get the clips on quite easily - there is a knack. I ended up cutting down a bit of the washer as the clip has to go into the same gap. The clip is not a tight fit - but I am hoping if the linkage comes out it will hold it there by gravity?? If this doesn't work then I could maybe buy a new kit, a new genuine linkage if mine not genuine or maybe screw a hold through and put a bolt or something in?
  7. Hi The bearing on my wipers are broken. I bought some clips from the internet but they are not the right size - they don't have enough 'depth'. Can anyone recommend a clip that can join these parts together or what part number I need to order the whole unit? And where to buy from? Will this do? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/263804950350?fits=Cars+Year%3A2010%7CCar+Make%3ASkoda%7CModel%3AFabia%7CEngine%3A1197cc+77KW+105HP+CBZB%7CBodyStyle%3AFWD+II+542%2C5J%7CCars+Type%3A1.2+TSI%7CVariant%3APetrol+Hatch%7CPlat_Gen%3AMK+II&_skw=FABIA+WIPER+linkage+clip+mk2&itmmeta=01K6QXESHDSJJ8JNYPN9A8A2DK&hash=item3d6c00174e:g:YsMAAeSwQ7dow-IX&itmprp=enc%3AAQAKAAABAFkggFvd1GGDu0w3yXCmi1fdbeI5ujJeNU7wwPYl5oDyU1Y2JnlPIwpwyLruXLN9mbLLcRHQnBZKHW8kmXRcNopOr6Ng5vSV4pEg1MzfXGo4JH2ibCsdqFDHzBiBDgUxGR%2FlTn5rJ6w5i0AoPaqsFE8GWys3cpjqaOcRcMLjLuhdCnJrayYsFKBRjXExptMc9rAYkAiV2Ikuymt8NHWX%2FWKpOQuktwWKM6L8yYKXqXzoH9rTHndufTeGGdNu1F0Gv7eEAxrsi7qV5uc82bwfijbIC4USiTPd%2F00gPMjyn3btWY0ibuZ8J2RuNKDTWYifsE8rhfG6J61InuQQr4Fh5Dc%3D%7Ctkp%3ABk9SR_CYu_21Zg I don't think the images they have match the setup in my specific car. For some reasons I cant upload my pics so uploaded here: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1PJw2mZD1p4F74Q6PFgfQi_BP2_3ZKQDi?usp=sharing
  8. My windscreen broke The guy who came to repair had to take the interior light out (the one above your head in the centre of the car). He told me he couldn't put it back as he couldn't connect the switch that you move sideways - he thought a part of it might need soldering on .The only consequence was that the inside light wouldn't work (apparently). I have the lightbulb symbol on my dash - same as this thread - https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/483194-both-tail-lights-not-working/ I took my car to a garage to get it fixed and they are looking to order the parts. Apparently there is a part missing (from the bits the windscreen man gave me) I was out driving tonight and my rear (red) lights don't work - the other lights all work fine. I am assuming its a fuse like it was in the above thread. I just went out and changed what I thought was the fuse but made no difference but its midnight so I will have another go tomorrow when I can think and see properly. Can anyone confirm that if the interior lights are not working that shouldn't stop the rear lights working? But they share a fuse? My fuse box is similar to the one in the link below (click link to see a proper photo) - does anyone know what symbol I need to look for? Thanks!
  9. The garage took the doorcard off yesterday and told me the motor was broken - I trust the garage I've ordered a part off eBay for £30 so when it turns up next week I'll open the door card and see what's inside
  10. I phoned one of the SKODA shops and got given this part number 5n2837016m Which is described as a door actuator
  11. 2010 Fabia Drivers side door handle (inside) when pulled has no resistance. I took it into a garage and they have said the motor is broken. To get a replacement from TPS is £313 for part plus all the labour. I have seen what appear to be similar items sell for much less on eBay and breakers yard - like sub £50. I rang TPS but they won't give me the part number, which I want to ensure I am buying the right thing. The garage have said they won't fit a used part so I may have a go myself as I have taken the door trim off before but I suspect its going to be a pain. Has anyone got a guide on how hard it is to do and what part number might be? Garage have said the motor doesn't affect the lock/key part.
  12. Hi Woke up to find my drivers side wing mirror smashed - looks like another vehicle drove into it as it basically folded back on itself and ended up pointing the wrong way (well, what was left of it). My car service book gives the colour as 9153 and it is Anthracite grey. I've found a mirror online (used) with the right colour but its quite expensive and scuffed. I've found another one which is described as Anthracite grey but the colour code is given as F8J Looking at this website it shows 9153 https://carpaintcode.vernicispray.co.uk/5-en-338-22922-skoda-fabia-9153.jsp and LJ8J https://carpaintcode.vernicispray.co.uk/5-en-338-18659-skoda-fabia-lf8j.jsp They both refer to 9153 The website gives two different years but they overlap. Also this website suggests similar https://colorndrive.com/gb/touch-up-paint/skoda-fabia?year=&baseColor=GREY Does anyone know what the difference is? Does anyone know what the difference might be? To be honest the car is 12 years old now so being close enough is good enough.
