  1. The garage took the doorcard off yesterday and told me the motor was broken - I trust the garage I've ordered a part off eBay for £30 so when it turns up next week I'll open the door card and see what's inside
  2. I phoned one of the SKODA shops and got given this part number 5n2837016m Which is described as a door actuator
  3. 2010 Fabia Drivers side door handle (inside) when pulled has no resistance. I took it into a garage and they have said the motor is broken. To get a replacement from TPS is £313 for part plus all the labour. I have seen what appear to be similar items sell for much less on eBay and breakers yard - like sub £50. I rang TPS but they won't give me the part number, which I want to ensure I am buying the right thing. The garage have said they won't fit a used part so I may have a go myself as I have taken the door trim off before but I suspect its going to be a pain. Has anyone got a guide on how hard it is to do and what part number might be? Garage have said the motor doesn't affect the lock/key part.
  4. Hi Woke up to find my drivers side wing mirror smashed - looks like another vehicle drove into it as it basically folded back on itself and ended up pointing the wrong way (well, what was left of it). My car service book gives the colour as 9153 and it is Anthracite grey. I've found a mirror online (used) with the right colour but its quite expensive and scuffed. I've found another one which is described as Anthracite grey but the colour code is given as F8J Looking at this website it shows 9153 https://carpaintcode.vernicispray.co.uk/5-en-338-22922-skoda-fabia-9153.jsp and LJ8J https://carpaintcode.vernicispray.co.uk/5-en-338-18659-skoda-fabia-lf8j.jsp They both refer to 9153 The website gives two different years but they overlap. Also this website suggests similar https://colorndrive.com/gb/touch-up-paint/skoda-fabia?year=&baseColor=GREY Does anyone know what the difference is? Does anyone know what the difference might be? To be honest the car is 12 years old now so being close enough is good enough.
  5. The problem is that where I have found used aprts for sale the car has already been scrapped/or the seller isn't bothered about finding out for sure In the end I have just bought one on ebay and I'll have to live without the heated feature if it doesn't have it. Much cheaper than buying a new one and painting it.
  6. I need to replace a smashed electric heated wing mirror. My mechanic said I must get an electric heated repalcement so the wires match up. When looking for 2nd hand parts I see plenty of electric ones but they don't specify if they are also heated. I presume heated screens would have been an option - so whether somethign is heated or not wuld need to be established in each case? Or are they all heated anyway? I am not too fussed about losing the heated facility but if I buy a non heated mirror will I still be able to connect it up and make it move? I presuem the connector block would be the same but minus 1 wire?
  7. Well I spoke to Skoda UK on their live chat and they said it is up to the dealer if the dealer offers goodwill - this suggests that it is the dealer that will stomach the loss - which goes against what most are saying on here that Skoda authorise and pay it. I will speak to dealer.
  8. What is the best practical way to get this fixed? My car is 7 years old so out of warranty I took it to a Main dealer who said it was a timing chain issue but the warranty guy was not there. So do I go back to the main dealer or am I better off asking Skoda direct (via email?) and then taking that to the dealer. I am guessing the dealer will do it no probs as long as Skoda pays towards it?
  9. Hi Cruise control not working - it is on the same stalk as indicators which are working. I had a diagnostic tool connected to it and got the following error messages: Mechanic suggested putting some switch cleaner in as I had done some research and some people suggestedt here may be dirt inside. I don't have skills to do DIY repalcement of any parts so hopeully not a change of the stalk.
  10. I want to remove the Skoda Swing and put in my own single DIN stereo. I have bought the following: http://1drv.ms/1R70Dic I haven't been able to find a step by step guide online - but I have 2 quetsions based on what I have found 1 - I believe there may be a double aerial connector in the Skoda - does this mean I need an additional aerial connector of somesort? 2 - of the 2 wiring products O have, how will I connect the 2 loose wires? The set didn't come with any fitting instructions!
  11. I wnat to get rid of the SWING and put in a normal stereo taken from my last car. I believe this is do-able with a fascia. Butw what happens to the parking aid noise? obviously I won't have the visual aid anymore but will I still get a beep of somesort?
  12. OK bought the car - couple of minor niggles but as far as the DSG goes - it is indeed a 7 gear auto. Not much I can say other than it works as I expected it to - very similar to my old BMW auto - the BMW auto was 2002 so possibly older tech - BMW I would say was slightly smoother - helped on by the power - but the DSG is sufficient. I already msis the pwoer of the BMW but the 1.2 TSI is good enough - especially as it appears to be giving me an extra 20mpg (approx 41mpg on mainly motorway driving so far).
  13. Thanks, I've no idea on the technical ins and outs as to when it might go.
  14. ok one more i have read that the clutch can fail on these - is there an average mileage? or some other way i coudl ty and forsee it?
  15. Thanks - I suppose I can take comfort i nthe fact that in theory the DSG 7 is in as good coniditon as it oculd be and there isn oting else I can do. I presume its an advantage over the 6 speed DSG that I don't have to pay for maintenance every 40k?
