  1. Excellent new (ish) product from SuperPro.

All in one solution for correcting suspension on lowered cars

Folk here are keen on lowering their Fabias but lowering basically messes up the cars handling actually reducing grip by causing more roll and effecting dynamic geometry settings.

The SuperPro arms have roll centre correction bushings, caster PU bushings all in a light weight alloy arm design - nice

I have no connection with SuperPro

    ‘Now in Stock!!’

SuperPro Supaloy & Roll Control Products for VAG Applications

SuperPro are proud to announce that Supaloy light-weight aluminium control arms for MK5 & MK6 Golf based cars from the various Volkswagen Audi Group manufacturers are now available from stock in Europe.

These eagerly awaited kits represent the latest innovation from Australian Suspension Guru’s SuperPro combining the class leading performance of SuperPro polyurethane suspension bushes with lightweight, high-stress & corrosion resistant metal-alloy arms delivering 44% reduction in un-sprung weight when compared with VAG original cast steel arms. The package is supplied with the separate rear mounting bracket as standard making installation for the workshop a straightforward process. ALOY0001K_350x.jpg

The SuperPro polyurethane bushes are pre-fitted to the arms with the material’s free pivoting characteristics combined with high levels of resilience ensure that the cars wheels are positively located resulting in improved steering precision & feedback, while the offset rear control arm bush dials in extra caster for greater straight line stability and turn-in. Part number for a pair of arms including the rear mounting brackets with SuperPro bushes pre-fitted is ALOY0001K.

For an idea of how it works, please have a look at our short Youtube video.

If you do not feel the need to replace the complete arm, you can still enjoy some of the benefits by fitting just the rear bush & mounting bracket. This will improve the location of the original arm and also has the pre-set offset for caster increase. Part number ALOY3273-80K. ALLOY3273-80K_350x.jpg

To complete the package, SuperPro have added to their Roll-control range an adjustable ball joint which can be used in combination with the original VAG arm or as the finishing touch for the new Supaloy arms. Featuring an extended ball pin for roll centre adjustment and a slotted mounting plate for camber adjustment adding this ball joint to the Supaloy arms gives you the perfect adjustable performance upgrade. Part Number TRC0003. TRC0003_350x.JPG

To summarise: These new products from SuperPro will offer reduced unsprung weight, better more consistent alignment geometry and improved longevity of Tyres & other components while enhancing the driving experience.

  2. The Billy's are a decent damper at their price point, being the inverted high pressure monotube design.

For lowering, the B8 is the best choice. The damper is designed for use with a lowering spring in mind having a shorter stroke. As with most Bilsteins, valving is spot on with a bottomless feel

the B8 is part of the 'B12' kit which comes with Eibach Pro springs (terrible springs IMO - much better with something firmer and longer, not lowering quite as much)

  3. Before you go any further have a look at your PH advert, make sure you have all the relevant details, decent photo's and is realistically priced relative to it's condition and other cars of a similar age/condition.

Yes, This is what I thought - is something wrong with the ad (or is it just the colour of the car lol). I've had someone look at it and he reckons it's fine

  4. I'm looking into future suspension upgrades. A Whiteline RARB is definitely on the cards, the car is already polybushed with Powerflex bushes, so now I'm looking at suspension itself to firm up the handling while keeping the ride comfort decent. After reading a few dodgy stories about coilovers and ride comfort, and being unsure about how long my shock absorbers would last with lowering springs, I've decided to go for a springs and shocks set, replacing front top mounts at the same time (anything on the rear that can get replaced at the same time?). It's a daily driver but I would like to take it on a track day one day and for it to have half-decent handling.

I'm currently stuck between three sets on DPM Performance: AP, Apex and Vogtland. I've read a thread about Vogtland springs and shocks that grr666 did and they sound promising. Does anyone have any experiences of the AP or Apex sets (or Vogtland as well) and which one would you recommend?

Also, is a front strut brace worth it? Does that affect the ride quality much?

Not asking for much am I!

    Ta

Did you see my suspension upgrade post?

  5. Personally I'm a fan of long (or standard) suspension travel, and increased roll resistance. UK roads in general are pretty rough going, and out on heavily pitching B-roads the travel helps keep all 4 wheels in contact.so if you can stand the look of OE height, I would probably leave alone, unless you only town/city drive

You have the Jabba rarb so should have decent rotational balance. Caster bushes will help a little more with steering feel and front grip (should you find front grip an issue)

The only experience I have with OE set-up is a quick test drive of a different VRS before buying mine, so really can't comment for sure. HTH
