  1. The factory fitted parking sensors also reduce the volume of the radio when car in reverse gear.
  2. Booked problem with dealer (Gordon Lamb, Spondon, Derby) and problem was fixed while I waited. They hooked it up to their VAG diagnostic equipment, and it turned out to be a blown fuse! Me bad - must have checked the wrong fuse. Can recomment Gordon Lamb as a dealer.
  3. My Fabia II SE TSI was serviced yesterday, and the daylight driving lights no longer work (I switched them on when I first took delivery as per page 42 of the Owner's Manual). I have checked fuse 17 and it has not blown. I have tried the DDL switch in the fuse box in both positions, and the light will not come on. My car has factory-fitted fog lamps which incorporate the DDLs. Has there perhaps been a software update to the management system which has caused this? My car is a 2013 Fabia SE Plus estate, VIN TMBKN25J6D3023018. Regards, Richard
  4. Ordered Fabia SE Plus estate with the 1.2 litre Tsi engine, with various factory extras from Gordon Lamb of Derby on 25th May. Car delivered last week and collected yesterday, 26th July. Turned up to collect at 10:00 as agreed, no sign of salesman, eventually winkled out 10:45. Salesman wriggled when asked where car was, after applying some pressure head of sales admitted the car was not ready beacause the valeter had noticed a paintwork blemish which had now been corrected. Drove new car away at 12:00, but got full tank of fuel as compensation. DRL's not activated (did this myself) - thought these were now compulsory. Very pleased with vehicle - engine pulls like a train from 1500 rpm. Jean and I like the better quality of upholstery and radio, and the improved ride on less low profile tyres that the traded-in Fabia 3 estate had. Front end looks are improved with much neater fog/running lights. Rear warning bleeper is a little quiet (advancing years?). Miss maxi-dot a bit, but am getting used to new display. A very practical car at a bargain price - I got an excellent trade-in valuation.
  5. Ordered Fabia 1.2 Tsi 105 SE Plus estate from Gordon Lamb, Derby, after receiving mysterious letter offering good deals from Skoda UK. Got what I thought was a good deal, and specified various factory fitted options. Given delivery date of 31st July. Asked to have an extra option fitted (ESP) 2 working days after placing order, and dealer says it might not be possible to have this fitted (says Skoda UK has final say!).
  6. I bought a new Fabia 3 1.4i estate in March, to replace my 2006 Fabia estate. Delivered in perfect condition, all extras specified fitted. Only problem I've had is one of the bolts securing the driver's door bottom hinge came loose, causing a puzzling rattle. Five minute job to fix once I'd found the cause. I'm happy with this garage.
  7. My experience with the MkII 1.4i has been slightly disappointing. My old 2006 1.4i 100 hp estate averaged 44.5 mpg (brim the tank at each fill method) while my 2009 1.4i estate averages 40.7 mpg. And the newer vehicle is less lively, although more comfortable.
  8. I bought my first Skoda from here 3 years ago (1.4i estate). It's reliable, comfortable and averages 44 mpg. The service from Clock Garage has been excellent - all work requested done on time and car valeted. The one occasion I needed work in a hurry (caught the bl**dy net in the hatch lock!) it was done promptly. I have always been annoyed when garages charge £x to top up the screen wash - at Clock they charge for a bottle of washer fluid but leave the remainder in the boot for my future use. I'm happy with their attitude and service, and will soon buy my second Fabia Estate from them.
  9. GlacierNR has guessed right, my Fabia has the 1.4i 16v petrol (gas) engine. Thank you all for the information. Sometimes I think my Fabia has more intelligence than I! Regards, Richard
  10. Hi, I have the same "problem" with a 2006 Elegance estate: the noise starts as soon as I open the driver's door and appears to come from the right rear of the car. I also had a "moaning" noise from the back when moving off after applying the handbrake when the car was new, but that doesn't happen now...
  11. My Elegance estate has 4 sensors - the outer 2 are at at an angle so that the beeper speeds up when the side of the car gets close to a wall etc. I find this a great parking aid.
  12. Bought my new Fabia estate from Clock Garage a month ago. Premises clean, salesman (Vick Sandhu) helpful, sensible part-exchange price for our 2 old cars. Car was delivered in good condition with all extras specified fitted properly. Very pleased with Fabia, no rattles, drives well.
  13. Hello, my name is Richard I've just bought a new 1.4i Elegance estate and am highly delighted with it - it performs fine (I'm getting used to its non-slogging engine) and seems very well put together, no creaks or rattles. I bought an estate because the boot in the standard hatchback is too small. It replaces a 1.6 Migraine that I had for 5+ years and 55k miles - it was very reliable, failed to start once (loose flywheel timing connection), needed 7 new tyres and averaged 43mpg - hope the Furby will be as good. I'm (recently) retired, built my own computer, run a web site for a cat club, and my other car is a 1935 Rover! Regards, Richard
  14. Well, I don't know where I fit in.
