  1. Hello munch, a fellow maggotdrowner here. I have no issue with carp rods, doing as suggested above, with no fouling of the handbrake but if you pack to create a level space the pole holdal should go crossways.
  2. Found a car I like alot and will be purchasing it. Will in all liklihood fit a B12 suspension in the future as felt a bit soft compared to our current car as very impressed with that on our 06 vrs. Can anyone confirm which kit, 50mm or 55mm I didn't check which mode it was in but suspect eco when I test drove it. Does sport make much difference No CD player I could see but reccomendation for sd card to load with music, does it need to be a fast card, is there a max size 64gb or 128 gb? Tyres are 225/45/17 w currently Going to fit crossclimates 2 but do I need V W or Y rated tyres given v is rated to 149mph and car max speed is 134mph .... How do check map version I will ask for them to be updated. Thanks all
  3. If true that's a shame Above approach is not flat as you say! Leaves a gap between rear seats and front seats, that when flat can be loaded onto. I usually have cooler box and boxes of food neatly stacked level.
  4. We own a 06 vrs estate and tge rear seat squab flips up to create flat floor when seat backs are dropped (minus headrests) Looked at a 68 reg SE L yesterday and it looked like the rear seat did not flip up, I tried and dealer indicated it was not standard Have i missed a button or lever or was dealer correct, I need as much loadspace as possible at times so I find it very useful
  5. I keep a car 10 plus years, had current one 12, so that's an extra £1000 and is for me important. The running cost savings are part of our calculation to change, potentially saving us £1,000 plus a year over the VRs. Depreciating on the other hand is not an issue like we plan with our current car we would give it to a friend.
  6. Thank you and that explains my confusion when searching as 17 reg often have xenon quoted So looks like my decision will be £30 or less road tax and halogen or £130 and LED Or 16/66 Superb SEL for similar money and xenon!
  7. Looking at replacing our mk 2 VRS with a mk3 Octavia 16/66 reg.to pay less tax. Want xenons or LED dipped beam as a minimum. I have searched but cannot find a defininitive answer I know SE L has headlight washers and usually these are only fitted if you have xenons. But adverts for cars listed dont mention it. This is the model I am considering. Any help appreciated thank you
  8. Car is an 06 vrs estate 3 years ago fitted B12, had geo set up and no issues with asymetrictyres Year ago fitted Michelin cross climate + tyres Tyres started roaring shi geared saw toothing and used standard recommended settings for a VRs as stated on here Year later Tyre roar still there and louder. Just spoken to a Tyre technician looks like geo is still out as tyre looks like it's getting hot and the sipes are wider than expected I will get suspension checked by trusted mechanic first, then redo alignment and tracking So anyone with similar setup reccomend settings as perhaps std isn't right for the B12 setup Thank you in advance
  9. Search BilsteinB12 kit Many on here have fitted it I wished I had fitted it sooner, and had people comment on the ride quality of the car as well as the handling
  10. Dump Valve (seen it called a diverter valve too) Early version can split/fail losing boost pressure hence reduction in power and worse fuel economy
  11. So eventually got the DV replaced on our stage 1 VRs petrol. It showed no fault codes and my mechanic who knows these cars well felt it unnecessary. I had felt that the car was not as brisk and our fuel economy was disappointing even when cruising at 31mpg When removed it had no visible tear or holes. Twice now on longer motorway runs at 70 I have got over 35, today 36.6. And the power is back, traction control is cutting in if too brisk in the acceleration from a junction, and in second gear on damp roads too. Wish I had replaced it two years ago when I first noted the symptoms Used the current OEM revision of DV btw
  12. Agree a 10 year old sat nav would be out of date, unless previous owner paid for very expensive updates. Or you pay for the updates, which would be more expensive than a very good Tom Tom/Garmin
  13. Well the estate takes all I need for a weeks fishing, which always includes several nights after carp and cats and more match style, clothing for us both, 2 chairs, bed chair bivvy, more toys than I ever use, barrow etc etc, I have stopped using a roof box after developing careful packing We buy food on the way down to Devon, and that is a bit wobbly on top. As for crashy comment after 9 years we fitted the B12 bilstein suspension and now you hardly know all the gear is in there. If you carp fish have 12ft 2 piece rods, raise the squab, drop the seat back, not flat, but Rods will fit diagonally behind seats (my mates preference) or the seat squab acts as front rod rest and they sit between driver and passenger. On top of the other gear
  14. We went Bilstein B12, do a search and you will find my full review. Excellent, better handling, better ride, dealt with weeks with of fishing gear so well I almost forgot I was carrying it. Octavia vrs. Lowering was not a reason for us for doing it. Expect costs to be a little more than quoted as things will be stuck.
  15. I have done something similar as a angler I have forceps so used these to briefly open the rubber pipes, passenger side flushed out crud, driver's side nothing. Agree re the safety aspect though.
  16. We have a sunroof on our 2006 Oct estate and it's going to an independent on Wednesday to replace a window motor(age rather than water ingress) and look at where water ingress is from One side of the sunroof drains fine, the other is being investigated as i cannot see it draining the fact is there are several possible causes on the mk2 including bulkhead, behind battery and the door seals so could take a while We don't have curtain air bags.
  17. Wood & picket mini cooper S, would have had e-type but someone else has chosen that and I always loved the original mini.
  18. Search for my other posts but as above I would suspect your suspension components are at the end of their life. We replaced ours with bilstein b12, transformed ride and handling. Our car had mid 70000 when we changes
  19. http://www.amdtuning.com/bilstein-suspension-0 this link is where I got mine done.
  20. If you search on here you will see my review of the Bilstein B12 kit I rate it as a superb upgrade from the standard suspension
  21. Indeed they are. I was aiming the past at the OP. They were charging £650 fitted for the B12 kit
  22. Where are you located, anywhere near Essex If so look out for my old thread as AMD Essex were doing a great supplied and fitted price
  23. Toby agreed on that. I am not a 20 year-old. That kit rides better and handles better Methinks someone has read lots of books. Sometimes theory and practice are rather different
