  1. Hmm, that pesky clutch! That does sound a strange position but I suppose worth a try, I've tried every combination of seat position but no joy.
  2. I've had mine 18 months and still can't get comfortable. I have the DSG so I wouldn't say it is anything to do with how many pedals it has. Just had a Passat as a hire car for a week on holiday. I found the seats more comfortable (no pain in the underside of my leg) but in every other respect the Superb is as good, if not better than the Passat, however, I have pretty much made the decision that the Superb is going. Just haven't decided what to replace it with yet.
  3. True, but then you've have to drive a Honda Jazz! My Mum used to have one and loved it. To be fair, I could see that it had a lot of really practical features and was a bit tardis like inside but it was gutless, felt like it was made out of tin foil and the interior seemed to be made out of random buttons they had found lying about in a parts bin. Maybe the new Kamiq would be good for that as it's Fabia sized but with a bit of extra height? Fabia estate is probably going to be a bit cheaper though since it's been around for a good few years and is not an SUV, therefore not as fashionable (at least, not in the UK). Drove the most recent model of Fabia as a hire car a couple of years ago and was actually really impressed.
  4. Thanks, taking off the saddles is what makes the difference, I suppose, but I don't have quick release saddles on ours. Never that far from an allen key though really. Likewise I don't like having them outside, always paranoid they are going to fly off / get nicked. Although I do always secure them inside as I also don't want a bike going into the back of my head if I have an accident. Currently have a Superb hatch (boot size only marginally bigger than the Octavia) and it always takes several attempts to get mine and my son's bikes in the boot as invariably some bit of the bike is sticking up and won't let the hatch close, so changing to an estate is tempting.
  5. Do you have to remove both the bike wheels to get them in vertically?
  6. Hello knowledgeable and helpful folks of Briskoda. I've taken the plunge and swapped my Mk II Octavia manual for an S3 Superb with the DSG box. It's an SE with the manually adjustable fabric seats. In general, it's great. In terms of kit and refinement, it's night and day from the Octavia. I keep finding myself speeding as it is so quiet and the DSG box makes the whole thing effortless. Used the ACC for the first time on the motorway this morning, very impressive, although a bi unnerving. However, as per the title, I am finding the throttle pedal is causing me some leg pain now after having had the car for about a week. Didn't experience it on the test drive or the hour or so drive home but I have now moved the seating position about a bit and can't seem to get back to a good position for my right foot. Thinking back to the Octavia, it had a flat throttle pedal that was hinged from the floor and seemed to need a bit more pressure to get it to move so I could gently rest my foot on it and push my foot down when needing to accelerate. In the Superb, the pedal is hinged from above and seems to only need a light touch to get it to move (although seems to need more pressure to get the car to actually accelerate, I guess this is what people talk about in terms of the poor throttle response?) so I suppose it needs a slightly different foot movement. It feels like I am having to bend my leg more, but if I move the seat further back, the steering wheel feels too far away even with it pulled all the way out. Has anyone else make the swap from a Mk II Octy to Superb and found the same issue? Any tips on seat adjustment, or will I just get used to it? I would say that I generally need to go for a longer legged trouser as I find the "Normal" leg length too short and conversely find that coat sleeves often come down to my knuckles, so I guess I have long legs and short arms!
