I don't post on the site as much as I used to, but that is more due to work commitments than not owning a Skoda at present. (ETA: welcome Little Katie, you must have joined since I last logged on)
As per other's posts, the attitude on here really isnt that bad compared with other forums.
Yes I read the odd cringeworthy comment on here but these things get dealt with.
We'll always have different opinions from oneanother, and some of the most committed members of Briskoda have their off days like the rest of us.
I'd never be offended by Graham as I have met him briefly and know he is a sound chap but with an off the wall sense of humour.

I clicked on the link just after you posted it a couple of days ago and found it pretty shocking. I was going to PM you at the time but my train of thought must have moved on elsewhere; much like others have said, most things don't offend me but this was a step across the line.
I find 99% of the stuff on b3ta pretty funny, although some of that is close to the bone.
Again, not aimed at you Dr. Z but I was pretty horrified at the 'speculation' around the whole case on that site.

Ok, here's the news, the car went to cotswold accident repairs today so i'm without Felix for a few hours/days. should be around £550. I'll post pics of the fixed car soon!
New radiator, bumper and sound deadning... plus a foglight re-wiring.
Duggie.
Sounds about right, I had a similar accident a couple of years ago which came out at about the same price.
It will be a few days, the paint takes time to cure even if they can do the repair work in one day.

By the way, most people on here that say 'my driving's crap' are actually a lot better than I am, and I am a lot better at driving games than most of my RL mates. I didnt think I was too bad til I started racing online!!

The band G thing is a bit unfair also... What I mean by this is the date it started -23rd March. 22 days after the new registration.
So, you can have a 06 plate S2000 and pay £205 a year if it was registered on 22nd March, or pay £300 a year (band G) if it was registered on the 23rd March. Band G will rise to £400 next year also, widening the gap further.
Ok, some of you might be thinking what is the issue here? Well, the consequence of this is that any car over 225g emissions sold on an 06 plate before 23rd March is going to be a easier to sell, or hold its used value better, than a car purchased after that date because it's cheaper to run (cheaper to tax each year).
I think it would have been more appropriate to start the new band G on the 1st of the month, coinciding with the new registration plate.

I've seen a couple very recently:
Back of a 5er touring (debadged but suspect a 530, 545 or 550) near Berlin last week, and;
a ring sticker on the back of a Rover 220 Turbo (tomcat) at the motorway roundabout just up the road. I was intrigued as to how it had got all the way over to the ring, round, and back again without blowing up!

Yep, due to the list price the PD170 Octavia is probably the cheapest (to the employee) company car to run as the emissions will be in the same ballpark as the other VAG cars (A3, Golf) but the VW and Audi list price is higher. What I mean by this is that you're paying the same %age but the %age is worked out from a higher P11D value.
I know what you mean about the 'bizarre emissions' - yes I noticed also the A3 has the highest although it is the same engine as the Golf and Octy. Maybe it's a heavier car?
It works the same way with hot hatches; the Fiesta ST and Ibiza Cupra aren't particularly emissions friendly but are some of the cheapest hot hatches to run from an income tax perspective, due to their low list price. The Mini Cooper S is next cheapest, much higher list price than the Fester and Ibiza, but much lower emissions. These cars will cost around £80-110 a month in tax.
The Fabia vRS was effectively a good compromise as a company car, costing the driver about £60 a month in income tax due to low emissions and low list price.
To compare, the new Civic diesel is about £110 a month in income tax. Even though the emissions are a little better than the PD130, so the %age emissions factor is lower, the main reason is that the list price is very much higher than the Fabia.
A lot of people at work are choosing these new Civics over VAG cars because the Civic is a 2.2, better emissions than the A3/Jetta/Golf, and they can claim a bit more back in fuel allowance than the PD140/170's which are under 2 litres.
Back to my point about the Fabia vRS being a good company car, there are a two of those at work. I've got to know the drivers and one of these people realised that the Furby was about £100 a month less than the allowance (we get the difference back in pay packet) and as the income tax hit was £60 the extra pay balanced this out...so she ends up with a truly 'free of charge' company car.

The Mini will do way more than 50MPG, moreso now that it has regenerative energy systems and engine cutout to save emissions/improve economy further.
I think it was 64MPG combined before these new emissions/economy upgrades and the late 2007 models with the new kit run at 69MPG combined, IIRC. Something silly like 75+MPG on an easy motorway run...
It will retain it's value very well also.
I specced one up with all the options I wanted, I think it came out at £18k or something silly like that.

This is very scarey...I guess it depends what these theives are after, I mean what they intend to use the stolen car for. If it is stolen to order then you are going to be more at risk the rarer the car. If it is stolen for a job they will not take something like a smart car (no passenger/luggage space) so in this scenario a larger car might be more of a risk. I was going to suggest a turbo kit and 1.9td badges on a V6 Skoda Superb 'til I thought about the boot space.
Makes you want to just give up on 'obvious' hot models of cars like the vRS or coupes/cabrios, and get a sleeper. But then, they've won. People harp on about moving abroad. They've won again. They being the scum in this country who take the fruits of our hard work and wreck lives.
I forget who it is but some chap on here has the right idea, 1.4 badge on his vRS!

The original Bourne Identity film was made in the eighties with Richard Chamberlain and Jacklyn Smith that followed the original Bourne Identity novel almost exactly.
It was a bit lacklustre in comparison to the modern efforts to be honest.
I would advise that you spend your money elsewhere.
I'd be interested in seeing that. I wonder if I can find a copy...

It's not that hard. You have the right to live and work in any EU country you choose.
Indeed, but the language barrier is what makes it difficult for most. Business language is English but people still need to be able to speak the local language as well.
Also, a lot of countries dont pay quite so well, or have good salaries but higher tax rates.
I'd like to live somewhere more sunny (again), for sure, it's not all about the £ and I'd take a smallish pay cut to work in Barcelona or something!
Edit: It's a shame all the warm English speaking countries are either miles away (Aus) or difficult to get into in the first place (US).
