  1. A belated update: we're off to Court as the ex is still messing around with access and the kids told me that she rowed with her mum a few weeks ago and the Police arrived. Not having my kids around the ex laws too often...
  2. Thank you. I have a long history of WhatsApp messages showing her delightful nature and luckily my partner was on hand to witness the impact on my son. She also overheard a phone call with my ex screaming at me. I have heard various tales of the bias. I believe that the Court will pay some heed to children over 10?
  3. Hello, Back after some time, mostly due to divorces issues...anyway... So the ex, after throwing my 11yr old son out last Sunday and dumping him at the end of my partner's Road, wanted him back ( he agreed) and now she reducing access to him and his younger sister. She has chopped and changed access over the past 4 years and it seems that the time for a child arrangement order has come. Has anyone here had to go through this please? I am trying to plan ahead for pitfalls etc. Thanks Matt
  4. Thanks. Yes things are better now, I have a new partner amd seem to have got the job side sorted. My son is finding the divorce very hard and has been in tears over the car. :(
  5. Hi Yes, long absence as life decided to toss in divorce, unemployment and generally become very busy. Nice to see the forums and people still here!
  6. Sadly, my beloved Mk2 Octy meet a deer this morning. Matilda did her best but the deer died, and as it transpired, her drive home was her last as she is an insurance write off. I was thinking the other day that it would be nice to make 200k miles in her but we only reached 189k in the end. She has done numerous holidays, camping, bought my daughter home from hospital, lugged my stuff from house to house during divorce. I know she is really a machine, but I felt that she had character. So thank you Matilda. Michelle arrives next week.
  7. Hello, So, as explained elsewhere, next week I collect the above car. Are there any hints, tweaks, tips I ought to know for it please? Best Matt
  8. Hi, It was Fox's Garage, Otford lane, Halstead, TN14 7EG. 01959 534 098 Best Matt
  9. Hello Sorry for the delay, I will look it up this morning for you. Matt
  10. I had a worn cam shaft at c. 140k and went to a guy near Sevenoaks. He did the timing belt and water pump at Tue same time and I think it was £1,100. I can look the name of the place up if you wish? Best Matt
  11. So...as I was putting a new wheel on the Octy on Saturday morning I noticed the supplied jack looked warped. And the next moment the jack collapsed. Luckily I had a 12x12 block of timber under her too. Can anyone recommend a suitable scissor jack please as my nerves won't stand the excitement of using another standard jack of the type that came with the car.
  12. Ooo.. This is quiet. Brisky is sleeping well at the moment! I am not. I am on the sofa since my 6 year old is in my bed with his mummy. His bed was...er....covered in vomit at 10pm
  13. Was it last year a very unfortunate workman in Germany did more or less that with a digger and something dropped 70 odd years ago that had lain dormant until his digger blade hit it ?
  14. Matilda is about to break the 120K mark, apart from Ratty chewing a few wires, the rear wiper motor failing - possibly because Mrs H used the wipers before deicing - and the aircon compressor failing, we've still had no significant issues And my FiL reckons she is at the end of her life. The car, not my wife....
  15. Dropped it back at the local garage to get a new pipe fitted to the EGR (and a few other things replaced) after Ratty nibbled through it.
  16. Well I have a partial answer... Some kittening rodent has eaten various wires including the aircon and the sensor pipe off the EGR. Arghhh!!
  17. Hi, After a long absence from the forums I am back in need of aid. Mrs H has called to say that Matilda has put her Exhaust Control System light on this morning during the school run. Since Matilda does not have a DPF, at the moment possible fixes I can do are: Replace air filter (new one ordered already) Check MAF and wiring seated correctly Check EGR is clean Open fuel filler cap and clear vent Are there any other 'at home' fixes I can look at? I am trying to find out if Matilda has gone into Limp mode, but Mrs H has not responded yet. Tomorrow I'll take her to a garage and see if they can see what, if any, fault codes Matilda is showing. Thanks Matt

  22. Two years ago in France we had to fill up (diesel) at a supermarket, with their default diesel, in the kitten end of nowhere and a few days later on the motorway, the fuel consumption worsened and the car felt laggy. After some miles the problem resolved itself but after that I have always avoided own brand fuel from out of the filling stations. Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
