  1. Well I replaced the battery today - a new Exide from ECP. It has made a small difference to my hot start, but it still needs a longer spin, than when starting from cold. It beats me why they program the ECU to look for a minimum crank speed when hot - what is the reason??

However, it was the original battery from new and therefore six years old. So I am happy to have replaced it - preventative maintenance.

It was a very good price from Euro Car parts - £52.50 delivered to my door, with the BRISK25 discount. This beats the cheapest on ebay for £59.99 delivered, and most autofactors wanted £67. So quite pleased, and its an Exide which is a good make, 72 AH and 680 cold crank amps.

hello i think what you need to do is get proper brake down service i.e skoda assistance and get your car plugged in proper its only 89 a year i can set it up

  2. Does anyone know anything about this car:

    mk2 Octavia 2.0 TDi PD140 - 2006 L&K Estate.

I'm looking around for a mk2 Octy and ideally want a Diesel L&K Estate (If you know of one for sale give me a shout please or a highly specced Elegance)

Looking around on the net today ive come across this one for sale at Rianworths/Bickertons and when I phoned for more detail the salesman said it was actually a PD170.

So i'm assuming its been remapped but I would like to know who's map is on it and since when as well as any other mods that have been fitted (and poss removed).

Thought it was worth a shot on here just in case it's someones old car.

    Cheers

    Mark

  3. Hi folks,

I have another thread regarding the issue of problems after the recall injectors being fitted but was wanting to possibly compile a list of people who have also have had these problems both with success stories and unsuccessful conclusions. This would greatly assist in any legal proceedings and help other users who no doubt will encounter problems.

Latest for myself is SKODA UK are denying any responsibility for the fuel in oil, raised oil level,DPF light on more often and slight juddering at semi throttle. They claim the seals on the injectors will not be the issue although they havnt checked them rather stating that the compression test on the engine proves no leaking seal. However when the engine is regenerating it gets thermal expansion and then shrinks which is when the leaking occurs......hence why they havent found the problem with compression test!

They have refused to re sit or change the seals as good will jesture to rule out this issue but would charge around £240 to do this.

My car never missed a beat in over 2 yrs then 2weeks after going to Skoda for recall it has problems!

Skoda UK are a customer service disgrace and I intend on taking the fight to them.

Please pass any details you have.

    Steve

i have not heard about this however the injector falt was shorting to earth none leaking that i know about nor have i had any info from vwg about this sorry mate
  4. I've noticed on the latest Škoda website in the section where it lists equipment for the L & K version, it includes an auto dimming mirror as standard now and it is not listed in the options, but if you download the brochure, it still shows it as an optional extra.

Mine's due in about October or November and I didn't order an auto dimming mirror, but does anyone know if I will get one now?

hi i have a elegance and its fitted on mine

  5. hi all i keep coming across this one if the coolent sensor is faulty it will default to -40 which on a petrol will cause flooding that will lead to poor starting when cold not hot as for diesel it will run a little leaner however this fault will be flagged by a good ecu reader poor starting when hot would more be more like engine speed sensor which has windings which when warm expand which then go open circuit the ecu cant see the engne turning so it dose not switch fuel pump on ect ,as for replacing batterys if you have a ecu fault or light on when you remove battery and leave it off for over 10min it will reset ecu you prob find you have to retune your radio or the millage trip has been reset there for the fault is no longer in ecu car starts ,.i have had lots of these type of faults on the side of the road

  6. If your car has an ecu that wont allow you to delete your egr valve, Would this actually work:

I had an idea, if you leave the egr valve as is, and remove the egr pipe and blank off as you would at the manifold, Then get the end that was attached to the egr and cut end off and reattach it to egr valve. On the end of this place a breather filter - the likes of which you find in an induction kit for breathers when air box is gone.

This would leave the egr valve doing its thing, but it would be drawing on only clean, filtered air. ECU still thinks its all as it should be and the negatives of carbon and muck irradicated.

This is only an idea, i just thought if i got some feedback it may just work, saving someone some cash and adding a little bhp.

Let me know if you think itll work

hi i work for one of the main brake down firms clue orange vans ,we have blanking plates for vauxhall egr valves so we can just blank them off however this may put light on dash but it works

  7. Sorry just abit lost i dont see why the ecu would need updating sorry to be a pain ?90% of todays brake downs are software problems from missfires ie 1.4l fsi turbo /supercharged missfire at 6000rpm code reader will say multi cly missfire what would you do replace all coils ? nope reqs update ,there are quite a few out there most your never know as it will be done at service at dealers however whats when its out of warranty ? im not doing the big sales pitch it just seems alot of you have these faults and you spend all the time looking for someone with a copy of vag com when you could just make a call and we come to you with dealer kit which will save you time and money if your intrested in the cover send me a pm

  8. to tell you if your car is plugged into his laptop and give you an insurance to update your cars ecu for £145 .....and.....its free too, so he must give your money back again. Also recovery service, and every time you brake down he can stamp your service book for you (hes allowed).

I might contact him as i need my moudles coded, well i havent coded my moudles so i assume it needs done. Hes right i cant find cheaper cover for all that as most other companies include cover more legible to me.

Oh and i have never been mooned by the aa. Its a win win

thanks for clearing that up 90% of todays brake downs are software problems from missfires ie 1.4l fsi turbo /supercharged missfire at 6000rpm code reader will say multi cly missfire what would you do replace all coils ? nope reqs update ,there are quite a few out there most your never know as it will be done at service at dealers however whats when its out of warranty ? im not doing the big sales pitch it just seems alot of you have these faults and you spend all the time looking for someone with a copy of vag com when you could just make a call and we come to you with dealer kit which will save you time and money if your intrested in the cover send me a pm

    Hi,

Didn't know this site existed but really glad to have found it through Google.

I have a Skoda Octavia Elegance 2.0 TDI PD, on a 56 plate.

This evening I looked out of my house window & saw all the indicator lights were flashing on the car but the alarm was not going off, I unlocked it using the remote Flashing stopped) & checked all the doors were properly closed & re-locked the car, less than a minute later started flashing again. I unlocked it & left it for an hour, locked it & about a minute later all the indicators were flashing again so I have left the car unlocked.

If anyone has any ideas as to the problem & a possible remedy I would really appreciate it as it is 21.30 Saturday evening & I dont want to have to leave my car unlocked till I can get it to the Garage on Monday.

    Thanks again, Reiff.

  12. What HU have you got? Stream MP3 or just Stream?

I've just installed the Stream MP3 and 3.5mm phono jack (I opted not to do the socket and just use the plug) and it worked fine with no need for VCDS or any other coding. Did you swap the pins around for the Earth as shown higher up in post #1?

hello again i have just stream yes to day i swapped the earths around the aux still did not work and the cd player sounded realy tinny and ill let the cat out the bag now im a vwg patrol but new to this which means i carry the vas6150 henes my name i have tried to code it the only settings on my laptop was to turn the phone on or off i put the vas on line checked software engine ecu body ecu and radio all up to date im also geko auth, and have full access to elsa pro ,i have tried to look at wiring digrams i think ill just give up the pain is i have optics pack so if i swap radio ill loose my parking sensors
